Despite being fully mobile and independent before arriving, my uncle was often put back in bed after lunch instead of being encouraged to walk, simply due to a lack of available staff. The staff also shamed him into submission of never leaving the wheelchair even when he wanted to walk with a walker or visit another area. When we raised concerns about Nurse Sarah on the second floor, the administrator refused to take my call. If you're considering this facility for a loved one, think twice. The lack of staffing and poor care standards make it a place to avoid.

The facility is nicely sited within a neighborhood and seems the right size to our family - not too large and not too small. His apartment is spacious, comfortable and the right size for him. My father was initially against moving out of his home where he has lived well over have his life but is now so happy, busy, and engaged every day. He had to move into the nursing care for a few months for a severe wound to heal and has now successfully moved back into his independent living apartment.

The gorgeous art that covers the hallways are created by the residents who are working and living artists who are able to feature their work of aa monthly reception. Buckingham is What a Nursing Home is Supposed to Be!…read more When it came time to find a nursing home for my father, I was deeply worried that my Dad's new home wouldn't be sufficiently caring, clean, comfortable or professionally operated. So, I researched well over a hundred nursing homes across Chicago and the suburbs. I am so glad that exhaustive search enabled me to find Buckingham Pavilion! Everyone was caring, understanding, patient and attentive to my Dad's needs. This was true of everyone on the team from the receptionists to the nurses, to the escorts, to the maintenance staff. I was never given any reason to worry about my Dad's level or care or comfort. During my many visits, I saw that he, and the other residents, were happy at Buckingham. Also, my Dad's room, the dining room and all the community spaces were always kept clean and the residents' room were significantly more spacious than at other homes. To top it off, one of the owners I frequently checked in with is not only caring, communicative and professional, but a person of great integrity. I could not be more thankful for everything that everyone at Buckingham did for my Dad and my family.

She said his insurance wasn't going to cover his fourth week there told me…read moreI needed to give her a check before he was released like he was being held prisoner, but yet he was being forced to go home got him home on a Friday called the insurance company insurance company said he was approved for another week and maybe even more than that, so he was literally forced to leave because they wouldn't wait for the insurance paperwork to go through. It was all the finance administrators fault. Other than that, the care was pretty good.
