In addition, they have assisted living plus a number of levels of care up to end of life. They can provide medication to residents, ostomy care, catheter care, bathing, dressing, toileting, housekeeping, escorts by wheel chair to dining and throughout the facility. If you need a medical bed or wheelchair they can help coordinate. If you need to move they have a liaison that would work with your to help bring furniture to their place for design. And also helping thin out belongings . Optional. You can eat in your room. Staff has 24 hour care and shifts with RNs, CNs, LPNs, mgmt director social worker, sales, care coordinator. The facility has indoor parking, handicap too, there is security with locked doors so people cannot get in after a certain hour . There are cameras. There is restaurant quality restaurants, a number of places to eat, depending on if you are assisted living or independent living. And there is a gorgeous rooftop spacious area with loungers and chairs and outdoor furniture with a gorgeous view of downtown Chicago if you want a cocktail. The rooftop is open but w a ceiling. And then there is a facility up top where you can also rent if you have a party. Wall to wall windows. And there's a bar area. There is a large movie theater. There is a beauty salon and they do massages. There is a physical therapy room and physical therapists can work with you depending on your needs. Medicare coordinated. There is a church nearby and walking distance. There are a ton of activities listed on the wall that are going on every single day. They are posted also in the elevator. And you can receive a copy. Every assisted living resident wears alert necklaces around their neck and when you press it, it sends a message to the staff or the nurse in short order to come to your room if there's something urgent or an escort needed. This is not skilled nursing, but it has a lot of features in the plus care category that would meet the needs of most people in their golden years. If you are flat on your back and convalescing, you probably should be in skilled nursing. But that is not the energy or aura of American House. It's a breath of fresh air with senior living to end of life. There's absolutely nothing American House couldn't provide to probably 99% of people. I was very impressed. There is also a grocery store being built across the street. There's parking in front of the building that it's very spacious. If you have to unload a wheelchair. The front door is automatic. It's a building that takes up a full block. It is clean, and the residents are very friendly, and the staff is very friendly. The price point is appropriate and will not break the bank. There are tailored approaches. And it's in Oak Park, which is a lovely community, very diverse w restaurants and parks, and very close to the city. They provide transportation within 8 miles for free. Or rather as part of your monthly rent. This is a month-to-month rental. With a minor down payment. There is also outdoor space in the courtyard and umbrella tables and a bar and a cooking grill. And there's also small gardening with people who may plant vegetables or flowers. The rooms are very modern and comfortable, and there is no stove, but there is a microwave and a sink and stainless steel refrigerator appliances. The rooms are hardwood floors and tall windows. Lots of light. Good views. The windows do not open for safety. The rooms are carpeted. No bath tubs. Walk in showers. And the closet space is huge. The doorways are wide for wheelchairs. You can decorate it the way you like. Utilities are included. You can get a landline separate. But most people have cells. Parking is extra. You are a couple blocks from Rush Hospital. Again great facility. Mary P. is a tremendous asset to American House and is very thorough in her explanations of the offerings of the facility. Subject matter expert, she is great listener. In the assisted living area, some people do put up their names outside their door, but it's like an apartment. And very private. So your doors are not open like a nursing home. And there's a number of areas with televisions and there is a piano, and coffee bar on the first floor. Books to read, games, social schedules. Wonderful, spacious, clean, I give it five stars.

I called a variety of agencies but once I connected with custom it just felt right. Sheila scheduled a visit while in rehab and then home visit before he transitioned home. Their advice, reccomendations and everything has been stellar. They are able to accomodate needs quickly and have a large, excellent pool of caregivers. They were able to provide male caregivers as well which was a major plus. We have used custom for about 4 months now and it only gets better. The caregivers have ALL been professional, knowledgeable and people you feel very comfortable leaving alone with my neighbor. Each one has been outstanding in keeping me informed and I know my friend is watched out for and safe. If you researching these options I understand how stressful and discouraging it can be. Its a very difficult process but I can assure you that custom has exceeded our expectations. Highest praise and highest respect to EVERY one I have talked to at custom home. I engaged Lincoln Park Family Care (LPFC) in the midst of the pandemic no less, after my mother…read morefinished with her skilled nursing stint after a fall, and was released to her Independent Living apartment in an upscale senior center in Evanston that in theory provides all levels of care. However, my mother's return to the apartment was conditioned on employing assistance for her. As I manage my mother's affairs from across the country, this was a challenge as her senior center did not have anyone on their "list" that provided the kind of care my mother needed - daily check in and assistance with medication. My mother is intensely private and independent, and so the alternatives of half day "companionship" were not a good match, even though she suffers from dementia. Fortunately, Lincoln Park and Jeff and his wife Ausra were recommended by a former caregiver (since retired) I had employed for my stepfather several years ago. The team at Lincoln Park stepped in immediately with aplomb. They worked diligently to win my mother's confidence and trust - this is not an easy task. They provided me with reports on her progress and advocated on her behalf with the staff at her community. They made themselves available by phone 24/7 for when she got confused on things like her medication instructions. All of this was made even more challenging with the pandemic which forced my mother to spend all of her days locked-up in her apartment. Jeff obviously has a wealth of knowledge and experience working with dementia patients. One of the things it is especially hard to do, especially from afar, is evaluating the on the ground experience vs. the told experience of someone in mental decline who is fighting very hard to "keep with-it." Jeff very deftly and respectfully laid out the evolving situation as we all threaded our way through a very difficult time as my mother navigated her challenges amidst the changing COVID world. Ausra provided a very caring presence, especially with female support, and stepping in to take care of small shopping requests. Jeff and Ausra work as a very good team, and have other skilled caregivers when they are not on point. I can't say enough for the quality of care they have given to my mother and at the same time the assistance they provided me in understanding the situation in my role as remote caregiver. They have also been good eyes and ears on the ground, helping me stay attuned to the changing dynamics of the Center necessitated by COVID. I highly recommend Lincoln Park Family Care.

Lincoln Park Family Care (LPFC) has been a wonderful provider for my mom who has moderate…read moreAlzheimer's Disease and lives in a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). Many CCRCs, no matter how upscale they are, are understaffed and are not designed for people with mild to moderate dementia. They offer three categories of care (independent living, assisted living, and memory care) when, in my opinion, there should be at least six categories. They market themselves as providing all of the services an aging person will need, but that's not really the case. Our elders are healthier than in the past and as a result, more of them are going to age into dementia. It's a looming crisis in elder care. In my opinion, CCRCs need to evolve. Until they do, people who can afford CCRCs may have to hire private care or their loved one may suffer alone and be heavily sedated. My mom is young (72), physically healthy and active, which presents challenges because she is also unable to make rational decisions. She does not understand that she has dementia and is proud and independently minded, so assisting her with activities of daily living can also be very challenging. Jeff and Ausra, the owners, have gone above and beyond in providing not only compassionate care for my mom, but support for me via many meetings and phone calls. Before working with them we had another caregiving provider and experienced turnover and last-minute sick call-outs, resulting in substitute caregivers my mom did not know. The only time I got a phone call was when there was a problem. This is not how LPFC operates at all. I get frequent updates from them, and we also talk to share ideas, discuss challenges, and also share positive experiences. LPFC takes a very hands-on approach and they are clearly driven by empathy and an earnest desire to make my mom's life as fulfilling as possible. A lot of thought has gone into the caregivers they have matched with my mom. Retirement communities can be challenging environments for private caregivers to navigate, and LPFC has also been consistently patient, honest and proactive in communicating with the retirement community and being patient with the challenges. The chord running through all of what LPFC does is to provide my mom with the best care based on her unique needs. I have heeded their frank and constructive advice many times, and their insights have given me a better understanding of how to approach my mom's behaviors and needs as we navigate this challenging and tragic journey. I highly recommend LPFC. I feel very lucky we found them.
