Many agencies made hopeful promises but failed miserably on the interviews. Thankfully, I happened upon Margalit Tocher and her agency Home Care Assistance of Chicago. I am very glad that I did. Margalit spent more than a couple of hours on the phone and in person answering all of my family's questions and concerns. She brought her suggested care giver for my father to the hospital for an interview. The interview went well. Yet, when my father returned home it was determined that he needed not just care but 24 hour help. These were going to be his last days. The situation was overwhelming. Margalit immediately assembled a team of two care givers. The two caregivers sent, Renata and Alicja, were like a miracle to me and my family. They cared for my father in a way that one could only hope for. They were kind, gentle, efficient, knowledgeable, and respectful. I cannot express enough what it meant to have this caliber of care. It meant that my family could focus on spending the last days with my father without having to worry about his care and comfort. The company stated "it's their choice to have a car or not." She seemed annoyed that my grandmothers needs are laundry to be taken to a laundry mat. I wasn't going to completely ruin their company at first but we also had theft from caregiver #2. They also violated HIPPA by communicating with a family member which was not authorized to receive ANY information.This company is a complete fraud and we plan to report them to Medicare for straight out fraud. Hopefully these frauds get closed down because they are NOT helping seniors at all. Do yourself a favor and ask your local reps, mayors, village administrators to suspend their business license.

Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. She thought where my mom was at was the best option in terms of cost, desired location and care needs addressed, but would do the research and circle back. We had gone through a lot with my dad before he passed away and so we knew what we wanted and what we didn't. Unfortunately, the informal network we used for my dad didn't have women caregivers so we were back to to square one. After doing a lot of research with the local senior center and online we called For Papa's Sake, which is based out of the town next to where my mom lives. From the very first phone call I suspected we had gotten lucky. After a couple of calls and some group discussion between me, my mom and a For Papa's Sake senior person we decided we'd try them out. And am I glad we did. They listened to my mom's and my requests, likes, dislikes, deal-breakers etc. and they never batted an eye. They did say it might take a bit longer than usual (given our needs) to find the right care giver, but they called back in less than 5 days and we had a care giver within 10 days to 2 weeks of that 1st main discussion. That care giver has worked out so well. It has really improved our lives and I can go days without worrying about my mom...what a relief. That's what For Papa's Sake provides: relief! If you are looking for an alternative to a nursing home or aged care facility or whatever you want to call it, For Papa's Sake really cares and I would encourage you to give them a call. They have worked out great for us and I would not recommend them for something so important if they weren't doing a great job.

My throat hurt like ****, and i felt like utter garbage. My clinic and internist were booked and i was due to get on a flight to Denver the following morning. Ugh. I googled and found Chicago Express Doctors. The doctor came in, gave me the strep culture which came back positive. He gave me an injection of antibiotics, which i had never had. He also gave me a steroid to decrease my swelling in my neck. He also gave me a Z-pack, sore throat rinse. I never had to leave the house! No runs to the pharmacy, no waiting in lines. IN-CREDIBLE.. i have had strep many times in my life, but never have i felt better so quickly! Honestly, the throat felt better within 3/4 hours. I was able to get on the plane the next morning, felt wonderful. All i can say is WOW. If only all docs did this. I just can't say enough great things about these guys. Fabulous A++++ thank you!!

I moved my mom in last October and every single employee with a title has left except for the activities director. The communication is non-existent. They do not answer phone calls, emails, and they do not even change their vms when someone leaves and a new person steps in. It's almost a conspiracy that they do not want you to know what is going on with your loved one. I tried for 16 days to get my moms invoice and they charged me a late fee! 16 days??? I asked them to talk to the doctor about increasing my moms meds. That was 3 months ago and I haven't heard back since nor does the nurse contact me back. Housekeeping is horrible. They clean the middle of the room and that's about it. The caring staff who works their butts off are wonderful and I cannot say enough except I feel bad for the conditions they must all work under. Every business needs customer service! This place cannot get that after all these years? It starts at the top. The director was going to meet with me in July and then she ghosted me. It's now October. It is horrible enough seeing your loved one decline. Dealing with this on top of that makes for so much more heartache and frustration.

It looks as though a new, residential building is set to begin construction adjacent to one I'm in now, which will mean a great deal of noise and debris in air for the next year or two. After sampling the cafeteria food upon first moving here, I can't personally recommend it, though most older residents seem to enjoy it. I'm trying to bring down my own veggies to eat with a plain chicken breast and salad offered, so I can enjoy lively dinner company with fellow residents. Will have to see how things go.
