I found custom home care while researching help for my neighbor when he was released from rehab…read more He is 83 and needed daily care after bad fall. I called a variety of agencies but once I connected with custom it just felt right. Sheila scheduled a visit while in rehab and then home visit before he transitioned home. Their advice, reccomendations and everything has been stellar. They are able to accomodate needs quickly and have a large, excellent pool of caregivers. They were able to provide male caregivers as well which was a major plus. We have used custom for about 4 months now and it only gets better. The caregivers have ALL been professional, knowledgeable and people you feel very comfortable leaving alone with my neighbor. Each one has been outstanding in keeping me informed and I know my friend is watched out for and safe. If you researching these options I understand how stressful and discouraging it can be. Its a very difficult process but I can assure you that custom has exceeded our expectations. Highest praise and highest respect to EVERY one I have talked to at custom home. They amount of stress that has been removed knowing we chose wisely is the most wonderful feeling ever.

Like…read moremany people, I was new to navigating the complex and ever-changing needs of an aging parent, and Siobhan was an invaluable guide every step of the way. She consistently provided support with kindness, wisdom, genuine care, and a high level of professionalism. Her guidance and advocacy made an overwhelming process feel manageable, and we are incredibly grateful for her help. We truly don't know what we would have done without her. I also recommend Kiara D., our assigned caregiver at Lincolnwood Place. Like many families, we were new to navigating the complex and constantly evolving needs of an aging parent. We truly needed someone onsite who could take ownership of my mom's care and clearly communicate with us about what was happening and what was needed. Kiara has been an absolute lifesaver for both my mom and our family. She consistently shows genuine compassion, attentiveness, and a strong sense of responsibility in everything she does. Every day, she goes above and beyond, and she is truly a pleasure to work with. When Kiara began caring for my mom--who was 100 years old at the time--she was nearly bedridden and not doing well. Thanks to Kiara's steady, kind, and dedicated care, my mom is now back on a positive path. She is up, walking every day, and receiving excellent care. I cannot say enough good things about Kiara. She has my highest recommendation.

I was unfortunate enough to be hit by a car while bicycling. After surgery I went to Wesley Place…read morefor rehab and stayed two weeks. I regret stepping foot in this place. Every nurse and CNA was friendly and more than competent, however medications were often given late and most of the time it took more than 20 minutes for somebody to answer the call button. This was not due to laziness of the staff, but due to intentional understaffing. I was at Wesley to receive physical therapy. I had a horrible therapist who threatened not to give me therapy. I left messages three days in a row to the head of therapy and now, three weeks later I have yet to receive a call back. I also called the administrator three days in a row and then once 7 days later, and am still waiting for a return call. If the head of the main department for skilled nursing cannot take the time to call a patient in the facility, and the administrator cannot either, nobody should ever stay in this place. Let me conclude on a positive note. My problems were resolved by the social worker, Sarah, who took her job to heart and treated everybody lovingly and with great care and attention to detail. She deserves to work at a place that appreciates her and its patients, so if anybody needs an amazing social work, call Sarah. You won't do much better.

There was an early incident that was reported and never happened again, with shaving his face before we visit. Someone do it without shaving cream or anything. So that never happened again. They are really careful about safety, making sure patients don't fall. They have daily activities which is nice, I do think the food is just basic, so we bring him breakfast in occasionally or take him for lunch. I really like the front desk staff, nurses, and assistants. Laundry is always difficult to sort out. It just seems his clothes are never where they should be. That's my personal issue, but I get that it's a floor with memory loss. Otherwise I really recommend. Has a family feeling and good care.

Cathy was so helpful when she took my mom into the facility. I was a train wreck as a I saw my mother falling apart. Cathy was warm, caring and she reassured me that she would help me every step of the way. Christine the Director of Nursing was amazing. My mother was refusing food because she was paranoid. Christine made it her mission to get my mom to start eating. Christine sat with my mom every day when my mom's food tray was brought to her. Christine asked what my mother liked to eat and she tried to have the cooks make it for her. My mom is now eating little by little. All of the doctors and the nurses did everything that they could to help my mom. My mom is no longer hallucinating thanks to Dr. Schvartzman. All in all I would say the staff at Dobson are very caring. I want to give special thanks to Maxine, Larry and Albert for taking all my calls. Dobson Plaza is not a fancy place but it is a very warm and inviting place. I give it 5 stars for the care they provide. The four stars is because there are no private rooms or private showers for people in Memory Care.
