We recently used Main Course Market to cater an event for our daughter. It was very easy to make menu selections and Jon was very good to get back to us with answers to our questions and a price quote. Although one menu item was missing when the food arrived, Jon was easy to reach and quickly had someone deliver it right away. We selected most of the items from menu and they were ALL a huge hit. The Teriyaki Beef Skewers were the biggest hit. That was the first item to disappear. I had stopped into the Market for myself and then suggested to my boss that the food is really good and we should order some platters for work when we needed to feed the crew. Marianne was wonderful to work with and speak to. We decided to have a company event this past weekend and I again suggested them. They brought the grill and cooked the burgers, hot dogs and chicken on site. The employees raved about the BBQ chicken being perfectly seasoned and tender. My boss already mentioned to Dan and Marianne, who were here on site for the event that we would definiteley use them again. Fresh, good and local small business. For years I've been ordering meals from The Main Course. Marianne was great at recommending special meals for our monthly Board of Trustees meetings. She would personally deliver them and set up the buffet. I have also sent meals to friends and Jon, Dan and Marianne are so accommodating and the meals always delicious. They can make meals for 8 or 80 and always great. Their specialty store carries delicious prepared meals and hard to find items as well as a wide range of wines. Worth the drive! read more

My experience was horrible when planning a catered luncheon.I met with the owner and after explaining my daughter in law's food allergies, was assured they would have no problem accommodating us. I scheduled a tasting to ensure the food was to our liking. This tasting was cancelled by the Main Course due to scheduling conflict. Rescheduled tasting and the morning of the tasting contacted by the Main Course as they were short staffed, please reschedule. Rescheduled for the 3rd time and because I was 10 minutes late for the tasting courteously called to let them know. I was told "no problem" that the person we were meeting with would be advised of the delay. And then... when we arrived no one was there for the tasting!!!! No one knew about it or could assist us. One of the "so called" owners even told us he contacted the person, Bob, with whom we were to meet with for the tasting. No explanation for the "no show". The next day "no show Bob" called me to say he was hesitant about using his kitchen due to food cross contamination issues. And told me Daniel Berger " so called owner" was not in contact with him. NO APOLOGIES FOR NO SHOW! I asked Bob if the kitchen is cleaned regularly and he assured me it was. Then why should there be a cross contamination concern? I doubt the regularity of kitchen cleaning if he is so concerned about cross contamination. So the bottom line is think long and hard before doing business with these people. They are discourteous, disreputable and lie. If, at the original meeting their concerns were vocalized, I would have walked away. And by the way, the Canton Board of Health may want to do a premises inspection. read more

The Main Course is fantastic! I live in Florida and have used them 3 times (so far) to deliver gift baskets to my parents for Christmas, Birthday & now Father's Day. Each time the put together an amazing basket of carefully selected wines, cheeses, crackers, nuts, cookies, whatever you want! They deliver a beautifully wrapped basket for a small fee $10. New to the area, I wondered in there after a trip to Rocky's Ace. What an amazing selection of meat, fish, prepared sides, wine and more. I just finished the NY strip and potato salad I got there - both were phenomenal. The prices aren't cheap ($19.99/lb for the steak) but the quality is top notch. I got to talking to one of the workers about a beer - they have a decent but small selection and I was wondering if they switch up what they carry. He said they do. More importantly, he said if I was really looking for a large craft beer selection, I should go across the street to tri-town liquors. (I did and his advice was spot on). The Main Course Market catered my birthday party for almost 70 people and did an amazing job. We had a mix of hot and cold appetizers, sandwiches, salads, and make-your-own ice cream sandwiches for dessert. They even made a separate plate of gluten-free food for a friend---grilled chicken breast and the most delicious quinoa salad. Our server, Caitlyn, was so efficient and friendly, making sure the appetizers made it through the entire party and staying with the dinner table in case guests had questions about anything on the buffet table. It was--by far--the easiest party I've ever had at my house. Highly recommend. read more

We recently worked with Jon and Maryanne to cater a Barbeque for 100 people and I can't thank them enough! The food was fantastic, delivered and set-up according to plan and was enough food to feed all of the hungry people! The set-up guy was totally professional and accommodating and took control of the entire process including putting the back-up containers in our oven on low heat! Growing up south of the Mason-Dixon line, the barbeque was authentic and expertly seasoned! My understanding is that the owners used to work at Shaw's and thought they could do it better. They do. They don't try and do everything a large supermarket does and that allows them to concentrate on the things they do. Okay, some people kvetch that it's more expensive. So what? I want cheap sometimes and other times I want good. They sell the stuff where good is important. I mean, go to Whole Foods up in Dedham and that's a market where stuff is at least as expensive as here and you have to drive forever to get there. The Main Course has wonderful fresh fish and steak and chicken but they also have good wines and beers as well as prepped food to take home and reheat. All of it is quality. One of the highlights for us is their marinated steak tips and chicken breasts. Utterly delicious. And in the summers they have wine tastings and barbecues to try some of the items they sell. Yum. This place is all about service and friendliness. The first time I came in there, one of the owners was behind the counter and he made me feel like a regular that had been coming there for 20 years. Another time, I go in to buy the steak tips and a fellow gives me ideas on how to do marinating myself. Wait, if I do my own marinating, doesn't that cut into their business? Amazing! I did not get a chance to officially meet the staff at The Main Course Market but it was such a pleasure working with Mary Ann (sp?) and Brett (sp?) over the phone. They were always so polite and professional every time I spoke to them. I ordered catering for my engagement party and was not able to go in to pick up the food myself so Mary Ann took my info over the phone and told me not to worry about not being able to come in. She confirmed my order three times leading up to the party to make sure everything was right. The food is amazing! My friends absolutely loved the sausage stuffed mushrooms and asked me where I ordered my catering so they can stop by next time they are in town. Foods that stood out (basically everything): - Sausage stuffed mushrooms: they did not skimp out on the filling, the mushrooms were large and overstuffed! The stuffing itself was sooooo good. - Chix broccoli ziti w/olive oil: I can literally eat this for days. I wanted something light compared to an Alfredo sauce, and they delivered! The chicken pieces were moist and tender and the pasta was the perfect al dente. - Coconut chix tenders: This was my fav dish. The peanut sauce that comes with it balanced the sweetness of the coconut and the chicken is so tender. - Finger sandwiches: I was under the impression that these sandwiches would be small, hence the name "finger" but holy moly. These sandwiches were the size of my palm and there was so much tuna, egg, and seafood filling in them. My sister gave the sandwiches an A+ I totally recommend The Main Course Market for catering. Fresh Meat and Seafood, and super friendly staff is always very helpful. I have gotten meat here almost every time I host a holiday at my house. If you have a question about a certain cut or how to prepare something, they love to help. If you can't find something, just ask! On several occasions they have given me a small amount of ingredients I needed for a meal like parsley, breadcrumbs etc. Also worth mentioning when my kids we very little and someone was napping they brought groceries out to my car when I called ahead. Had our sons 15th birthday party catered this pass weekend and the food was absolutely amazing! We selected from the BBQ menu - pulled pork, brisket, sausage and peppers. Not only was the food outstanding but the amount we got for the price amazing! A gentleman arrive at our house on time, did all the setup and preparation, very professional! They even provided us a disposable cloth, plates, napkins and flatware .. good quality stuff too not cheap flimsy utensils. I usually don't write reviews but this place impressed me so much I had to give them props! have gone to the main course several times awesome salad wine selection, side dishes for mels. i bought 2 steaks fpr my wife's bday. i took them down to our cape house planned nice dinner. i was told by the employee that yes our steaks are expensive but the best tender juicy best steak i ever had. i took his advice and bought the steaks i paid $33.00 for 2 steaks the were the toughest dryest steaks i have ever had. i grilled them rare. the only ones who enjoyed the steaks were our dog. i eneded up going to shaws in hyannis paid $15.00 for 2 steaks they were 100 times better. i do not mind paying for quality i do not like getting ripped off. my wife spends an average of $50 to $70 dollars a week for lunces for her and a few of her staff. we will not be going back anytime soon. don't buy meat there unless you like getting ripped off or love tough dry steak read more
