There is most assuredly a reason there are only 3 stars for this particular service. Less than helpful, installer hit on me, never finished his job of communicating between myself and the post office and twice asked me to go do his job for him. I'm not generally in the business of bad mouthing but even the office manager or whatever she is...just kept saying oh sorry it didn't happen...sorry he didn't do his job...essentially-sorry we didn't do the job we said we would do and that you paid us "in full" to do. She offered a refund...printed it on a new invoice that she sent out and of course did not honor it. Do not go with this company. It will NOT be worth your time. read more

Our 44 house homeowners association had a 3 pedestal system that was more than 15 years old. The primary material was plastic and it was recently damaged by an attempted break-in. We decided that it was time to upgrade to a higher security box system. We got two bids in the $10k to $11k range for similar boxes and chose the company that was closest to us (Des Moines) and offered a slightly lower price. Out old system had 3 pedestals with 16 boxes on 2 and 12 boxes on the 3d one. The mailbox guy recommended three 16 box pedestals because it gave us 4 spares and an extra package box for about $100 more. The quality of the boxes was hugely improved over the old ones. The new ones were all metal and the doors with the master locks were reinforced with steel so they could not be easily cut. A variety of colors were available and we chose "Sandstone". TheMailboxGuy provided an estimate for the work but did not require a written contract or a deposit. He said he would invoice us on completion. Everything was done with a handshake. He coordinated with our local post office and got their recommendation on the order of assignment of the boxes, by street and street number. That is the way the mail is sorted. We left the old boxes in place after the new ones were installed because we had to wait for the post office to install the master locks and parcel locks. Surprisingly, they did it in about a week but did not notify us when it would happen so there was some confusion on the first delivery day. As HOA president, I coordinated with our members to pick up their keys. The MailboxGuy came by a few days later and removed the old boxes and the roof structure we had built over them. He filled the holes in the concrete and even cleaned up the moss that was growing under the boxes. This whole project went very smoothly and I am completely satisfied. read more

The install was quick and they tried to do right by our HOA, but the order of operations was infuriating. The master keys got resolved with USPS before we had keys for the individual boxes so mail was getting delivered and homeowners couldn't access any of it. USPS didn't have answers, the staff at The Mailbox Guy weren't responding. Homeowners were upset. The MB Guy said he called me about key handoff, but he never left a message. He had my number and could have tried texting me. We'd spoken several times. This was not acceptable. The irony: If you call him - his own mailbox is full, and he won't respond to texts. Sadly, I recommend any other company first. read more

My install with this company took FOREVER! It was begun in early August 2022 and just last week in February 2023 I could begin to use my box. I even got notified by the post office that the box I had installed was not one that is normally approved in my neighborhood but because the post office originally referred me here, an exception would be made. I followed up attempting to get an operable box through multiple texts, multiple emails to different people in the company. The personal time I had to invest to oversee this installation is ridiculous. I would have been better off buying one from one of the many companies out there and installing it myself. For what he charged us, it is a bit ridiculous that we have to keep calling him to finish the job. This is a mailbox services company that installs large multi use postal, industrial styled mailboxes for corporate / residential clientele. My experience with a recent installation at one of my residential properties has been horrifying. After contacting, and beginning to work with this company, it's representative Dave Huston has become highly unresponsive and unhelpful. Our neighborhood all chipped in to purchase a new cluster box. David started out great and got everything lined up and delivered and installed, except for the package locker keys which is up to US Postal Service, and they are still dragging their feet a month later. He got a little manic when asked why. New townhouse construction in the area gets cluster boxes completely installed in no time. I'm not sure what goes on between him and his office. They were promptly paid but the check was lost(?) almost a month ago and no further responce. read more

David came out and met with us in the evening and explained the whole process of installing the mailbox, getting the USPS to switch the locks, and remove the existing boxes. He showed up on time and brought samples of the colors and doors. We ordered the mailbox that night and David agreed to come on a Saturday to do the installation. He showed up on Saturday morning and installed the unit perfectly. All the boxes were labeled with our addresses and the keys were delivered to us on plastic key chains which was a nice touch and convenient. I would say we were all happy with his performance and the finished product. Keep in mind that it's up to the USPS to come out and switch or install the locks and that can take some time to complete. read more

David installed our individual mailbox 15 years ago. At the time of the install everything worked out great. He was on time, easy to work with and the job got done as well as expected and everything was great. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because my mailbox started to come apart from the wood stand it was installed on. That's understandable as it's been 15 years so I have no issues with that. Only thing was because the whole mail box was loose (not attached to the base), anyone could have walked off with our mailbox at this point so I was anxious to get it reattached and fix it. I knew I'd have trouble finding someone to come just to fix this minor repair so I called David. He understood the situation. He immediately offered to come and fix it for free since it's an easy fix fairly quickly. I told him I'd be willing to pay and he insisted he'd do it for free which I thought was super nice. However, I never heard back from him since. I've called and emailed twice just to touch base with him if he's still willing to come or not. If he had just simply responded to me letting me know he can't do it for whatever reason, I'd have been fine with it. But the fact that he insisted and promised then wasted over a month of my time wondering if he's coming or not was super disrespectful and unprofessional. For that he gets 3 star rating. People should respect other people's time! read more

I would give him zero stars if I could. I was on the schedule for a Wednesday he didn't show or call I had to email him, he said he would be there on Thursday NOPE, but he did manage to call at 6pm. He told me he would definitely be there on Friday before lunch and you guessed it NOPE, not even a call to say he would be late so I had to call him and yes fire him. Why would you trust such an incompetent company who doesn't even have to common courtesy to show up or even call the person they are suppose to provide a service for. That's what is wrong with companies these days they think they are doing us a favor by actually providing a service and if they do what we hired them for on time then we lucked out and we should be happy and grateful that the company did what we hired them to. read more

My 13 neighbors and I needed a new cluster box. When I initially phoned the business, the mail box was full and I was unable to leave a message. I then emailed them, asking for a bid. They replied with an apology and a bid. The neighbors and I then had a couple of questions which took repeated emails over a couple of weeks to have answered. Dave was not very responsive. I should have chosen another company at that point but I liked the box they installed a block away so kept at it. Our box was finally installed (after having the installation date postponed a couple of times). However, he did not leave us the keys for the parcel lockers! It has been a month, 2 phone calls, and 2 e-mails later and still no keys! He seems too busy for our small job. He was non-responsive and failed to follow through on promises. If he is so busy, he must not need the business so I would recommend that you do not contact him. read more

David did a fantastic job with our mailbox. My neighbors and I decided to get together and get a multi-box unit (CBU) for our street. David knows his stuff and got this done with minimal effort on my part, handling every step. He had to pour a concrete slab since our chosen location didn't have one and then helped me with getting the necessary approvals from the Post Office as well as choosing the right box.
