It wasn't until | got up to ask--when the food arrived--that the hookah was finally brought out. She barely checked on us the entire time. I stayed polite because it was my friend's first restaurant experience in Los Angeles--she was visiting from London--and I didn't want to make things uncomfortable. The waitress didn't know what a cheeseburger was, and I had to point it out on the menu. When it arrived, it didn't taste right, and I didn't finish it. It was so gross. That night and into the next morning, I began vomiting nonstop--far beyond anything a home remedy could help. The vomiting was uncontrollable, which is why I ended up in the hospital. I was diagnosed with E. coli and a kidney infection, which doctors said were caused by food poisoning. Afterward, I mentioned the situation to a friend who lives in the area, and she shared that the place tends to cater to wealthy male clientele and that staff often focus their attention there. That context unfortunately made the dismissive treatment we experienced make more sense, as we were two women dining together. The DJ on the main floor, however, didn't seem to be mixing much and mostly replayed the same songs after about 30 minutes. The service was spectacular. We ordered three bottles, which came with a pitcher of juice and four hookahs. You could choose to add mint flavor to the hookah or leave it out, though it still had a slight hint of mint even without it. Everyone also ordered individual drinks, which were about $25 each, and the wine bottle was $85. Anything we needed was brought to us quickly. We didn't get the private belly dancers, I guess they didn't come to work. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely come back again for a special event.
