The pasta was good, indeed. However I'll say this, as a generality... Pasta is not expensive. The meat sauce could be a tad more expensive. So, $27 for an entree of Pasta seemed a bit overpriced expensive given the portions that could have been amplified at nearly minimal cost to the restaurant. I get it 'tho, rent is high and also strategically if you have small entrees then appetizers and other items would be purchased to get the average order size and revenue up as a smart business strategy. So the only comment I have is about the constructive criticism of the portions to the price. As it stands, it feels like what they served was about a $12-15 plate at most in "comps" value to what you might see at peer competitors, 'tho this is gourmet quality. If they doubled the portions served for $27, I wager they're profit margins won't get hurt on the cost of goods (food and portions) but I'm betting the customer care and satisfaction scores will bring back loyal customers with frequency. visited this restaurant with a friend, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. Our server was a middle-aged man with slightly gray hair. We ordered both appetizers and main courses at the same time, but specifically asked for the appetizers to be served first. Instead, everything arrived at once. Later, we asked for some red pepper, and he brought it to our table. After that, however, whenever we tried to get his attention, he avoided coming to our table. Instead, he told another staff member who was clearing tables to help us, and eventually he sent a different female server to take care of us. As two Asian women who are not fluent in English, we couldn't help but feel that we were being treated differently. Whether it was intentional or not, it made us feel uncomfortable, ignored, and unwelcome. What should have been a nice weekend meal turned into a very unpleasant experience because of one server's attitude. We left feeling upset, and honestly, it didn't feel like he deserved the tip. The food itself was fine, but the service completely ruined our experience. If you decide to visit this restaurant, I hope you have better luck with your server than we did. read more

Blink and you'll miss it, Ombra has been my wife's and I go-to for pasta and gin spot when we're spending an afternoon at The Americana. Even before Din Tai Fung moved inside The Galleria, we've always enjoyed our shopping break at this stylish patio, serving Italian dishes and cocktails as if while we're on holiday. Y'all- today was a day! It's a sunny Saturday on International Women's Day and Ombra was visibly busy and short staffed. A longer than typical wait to be seated, they still did their best ensuring my wife and I along with everyone else had a great dining experience. Shout out to our server (and I believe manager too) Scott, for going above and beyond for us today. He was multi-tasking while maintaining operations and providing customer service. I hope the day turned around for him and his team. We always pick dining outside when given the opportunity especially on a beautiful weekend afternoon here in LA. Let me paint you a picture. Glendale, CA at the Americana at Brand. Weather sitting at a low 70 degree weather and the sun shining in the sky. It screams patio weather. I couldn't help but sit outside and bask in glory of this glorious afternoon. Ombra is located right in the middle of the Americana and its outdoor patio seating was exactly the vibe for today. As Ombra is a wine bar, I started my meal off with a Pinot Noir. Delicate and a bit tart, a great way to prepare for my meal. For an appetizer, I ordered the Minestrone. The soup was a great starter, light and warm, the lentils and vegetables were perfect and the soup itself was warm and embracing. Lastly, for the main course, the Rigatoni Alla Norcina. The pasta was cooked perfectly , but the parmesan cream sauce and truffle oil really put this dish over the top. I added a bit of red chili flakes as well which added a bit of kick. Credit to the staff as they also treated me with such warmth and paid attention to every detail. So now the negative. I would consider Ombra a bit of a fishbowl, as it is in the middle of the Americana, it can't be helped however, as it is open air as well, you can't help feel like you are in a bit of fishbowl. I would recommend this for light gatherings and hangouts, but not for a serious date night. Other than that, I really enjoyed dinning here and look forward to the next time. read more

We were able to grab a seat right away and beat the crowd. I ordered their Bee's Knees, which had lemon juice, gin, and honey. It was delicious! The lemon juice was tart and it balanced well with the honey. My fiance got their strawberry margarita made with mezcal. It was also delicious! The mezcal wasn't too smokey, which I liked. The strawberry was fresh and paired well with the tajin rim. They also sell food but we just had drinks. I subtracted one star because our waitress brought me another round when I specifically said I was OK. Honestly, I think she assumed and didn't even listen to me. It comes with Italian crumbled sausage and mushrooms in a cream sauce and drizzled with truffle oil. Rich in taste and they serve it sparingly. Twas delish and priced right in my opinion. You can taste the truffle oil and the mushrooms. I had leftovers and I reheated it in the microwave and had it for lunch another day. Also ordered the latte and that was ok. Food seems dynamite and worth a return trip in the future since I am about 1.5 hours away so whenever that would be next, I will excitingly await! I want to try so much more! Great ambiance great service. It's a beautiful outdoor dining area with a nice bar in the corner. The bartenders make delicious drinks. I always get the Spritz. It's build your own. First you pick the base, then the sparkling drink and then the toppings. I got a Campari spritz with sparkling yuzu and added strawberry and basil. Served over ice. Cold and delicious on a hot summer day. Sitting outdoors and enjoying the water fountain show and the music. Really a great ambiance. My husband and I shared a Caesar salad and a pizza. Great restaurant! Came for a spritz with some friends. At first, no one seated us but came to learn it's self seating - once sat the waiters were very pleasant especially Bradford and Scott! Due to the limited table space, there was a wait of about 10-15 minutes. Luckily, my friend and I were seated in the shaded booth against the vibrant plant wall. Cue the 20-minute photo session! Our server was hilarious and joked that she didn't want to hear us complain about the food being cold. - Build Your Own Gin and Tonic ($16-21 depending on your choice of gin). I think I did the Amass Dry Gin with elderflower tonic and lemon + rosemary garnish. It was aesthetic and yummy. - Insalata di Barbabietole / Beet salad ($15.35). Tasty, and they did not skimp on the toppings. Mixed greens, roasted red and golden beets, blue cheese, candied pecans, green apples, and balsamic vinaigrette. I absolutely love this place. It's such a great stop in for a bite or drink while out shopping. The outdoor ambience is really nice, and would highly recommend the G&Ts and espresso martinis. Great views of the Americana here, especially during the holidays. The service is great; the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I had one of the best salmon dishes I've ever tasted at this place, no joke! And the prices, while nothing to sneeze at, are still in the realm of affordable compared to a lot of the not-quite-upscale places in L.A. Note that this is an extension of Amici next door, and the food menu is largely the same. I've had the pasta, which is okay to good, and the steak, which is hit or miss, usually miss. The salmon is the standout here, and, to me, it was worth the 5 stars. The arancini are great too, and the calamari is perfectly serviceable, above average compared to most others. My only real bone to pick with them is that they got rid of the corn soup. That soup with their complimentary bread was my other favorite thing on the menu. I really enjoyed this place! We sat near the bar, the ambiance is super romantic. It's located right in the courtyard of the Americana. Even though you can't see too much of the fountain in their location, they serve some of the most delicious food. When we ordered our drinks we were served a cocktail menu which had really good bar type choices. We were a little more hungry than expected and found out they serve some of the food from the Italian restaurant next door! Once we got our hands on that menu we ordered some soup, noodles, meatballs and calamari. The best surprise was the calamari had lightly battered zucchini and carrots too for texture. Love that ombra paired up with amici. The menu is delicious from amici - we got the rib eye, broccolini and seafood pasta. For the cocktails the margarita and a beer. It's a bit on the pricier side for but you can't beat the ambiance on a summer night with the music, fountain and weather. If you like Gin, they have some really fun cocktails here you can make really pretty/picture worthy. Service is ok. Their website said they closed at ten on week nights but they were doing last call and said they closed at nine. Which I see yelp has correct, they should update the website. read more

Tried Ombra due to its ambience fell in love with it due to its Tiramisu & Fig Margarita! Honestly, you can't go wrong with Ombra. They have a large menu and refreshing drinks! I love the quinoa salad! Its huge and savory! I also love the Burrata Flatbread if you want something carby. It is delicious!!! As far as drinks, the fig margarita is perfect if you do not like sweet and enjoy skinny margaritas. It has the perfect mix of tart with figs, yet not too sweet. I don't even like figs and I love it. Best part is the tiramisu with a side of expresso. It literally melts in your mouth. They have mini chocholate balls inside that is to die for. As for COVID precautions, they are on it. We had such a great experience with the daytime bartender and staff that my husband and I made it a point to return after our beautiful Valentine's Day lunch at Din Tai Fung. The bartender made a drink so incredible that I wanted my brother-in-law and his wife to experience it. However, the night shift staff completely ruined our impression of this place. The Hispanic bartender and Armenian waitress were shockingly rude and unprofessional. When we questioned extra charges on our bill, they immediately became defensive and hostile. Instead of handling the situation professionally, they harassed us and refused to let us speak to a manager. Their behavior was completely unacceptable--disrespectful, inappropriate, and outright insulting. I would never recommend this place at night if those staff members are working. If you enjoy being treated with contempt and denied basic customer service, then by all means, go. Otherwise, I'd suggest avoiding it altogether. read more
