I really was disappointed in their Crawfish, tasted like the were washed in dawn soap before they were boiled. Just couldn't figure out which color. For the price and the limit restrictions that were put on their crawfish, should've had better flavor and at least all crawfish should've been hot and gotten cold after they were served and not served cold then turn hot after being served. This place has a lot of the old town charm and character, a great location with nice patio seating on the corner with a great view of old town spring (the guitarist illegally parked his truck right next to our table blocking our view, no tip for him). They have a decent selection of draft beer which is nice. That's where all the good about this place stops. The food is lousy. This is a food truck like no other food truck. Your food is served and the business is housed inside an old style rail car! You can't miss this place. A bright red train car at the intersection of the two busiest streets in old town spring. They serve comfort parade food like BBQ, beer, cokes, hot dogs, frito pie, pulled pork, crawfish, stuffed potatoe, sausage wrap and bbq links . We are huge fans of their fantastic frito pie. Walk with the food or sit down at a nice covered picnic area to hide from the sun for a while. This place has been around for years and the people are really nice. Long time loyal customer here. If you are hungry, keep walking and go somewhere else. Husband ordered a Caboose burger and fries, I ordered fried pickles. After a fairly short wait, the burger arrived. No fries, no pickles. About 20 minutes later (after he had finished his burger) the fries and pickles arrived. He said the burger was ok, the pickles were also ok (although they'd be better with a little cup of ranch or something to dip them in). I'm a firm believer in everything arriving at the same time, so they pretty much assured no return visit for us. read more

The loose caboose advertises BBQ, but buys all their stuff from Sysco or some other frozen food company. The only difference between their pork beef and turkey is the color of the disgusting blob of so called pulled meat that arrives on your plate. The boudin is tasteless and all rice , and the sausage has the complexity of a broomstick. There is no pit in the back, just a bunch of bowls of slop and a microwave. I'm thinking for a BBQ place I"m going to get a decent Frito Pie with some BBQ meat, beans, BBQ sauce, sour cream, etc...especially for $9 What I got was a bunch of Fritos and a couple spoons of Wolf Brand chili - with some shredded cheese on top. One of my favorite old town Spring "spots" has successfully and single handily ruined my love of crawfish. I. AM. SO. SAD. About it. I ordered my son chicken tenders which came out as $7 literal string fiber fried. I've never seen "chicken" of this texture, it was like if you tried to rip a piece of beef jerky and came with no fries. But I digress, my crawfish... taste and size were good, not great but worth the spot outside with live music. About half way through there was a snail shell- no biggie, happens I guess. It wasn't until my husband and I had finished all but a corncob and a few mud bugs that the roach a little smaller than my palm revealed himself. Neither of us are grossed out easily but you'd be surprised the flips that your stomach does when you realize you already ate something unsavory. We are definitely not going back here but neither of us are excited about crawfish in general- one of our favorites. Definitely feeling a little victimized by this situation lol. My son and I love The Loose Caboose and it's crew! They have good food from BBQ sandwiches to baked potatoes. Over the 2 years The Loose Caboose has expanded into "The Whitehouse" next door, where they invite local bands & artist to play. There are a few TV's for watching sports all while continuing to serve good food and now alcohol beverages. During Old Town Spring's Crawfish Fest, they are boiling their hearts out to serve up great crawfish and fixings. I recommend that if you are spending the day in Old Town Spring shopping, you stop by and grab some lunch! Just a side not, but during the lunch rush on the weekends you may wait a bit for your food since everything is fresh & made to order. read more

Came here during PetFest and I wasn't impressed. I ordered the sliced sausage with bbq on a bun (or whatever it was called). When I got it, there was little to no bbq sauce on the sausage and the buns were cold and unappealing. The taste was okay, nothing special or amazing. Some of the best BBQ I have ever! The crawfish is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Staff is great and helpful and the live music is amazing! The town only allows beer and wine sells, so they do a great job at getting as many different wine and beers as they can. Wine based margaritas are the bomb. So many different crafts beers. The food was good, service a little slow and I think the biggest problem was letting two men have at least 3+ beers each, this man had a pickup and just cursed every so often. The people at loose caboose should have counted the number of beers going out the front door. There needs to be a two beer limit if you can't produce a sober person with you. So I've been meaning to write this review since Saturday. We went to loose caboose about 4:30 in the afternoon. There are signs everywhere advertising margaritas. Well everyone in Texas expects a margarita to be made with tequila. This was not the case here. My husband and I got a strawberry "margarita " and so did a few of our friends. The first sip I could tell something wasn't right. So my friend asked what the margaritas were made with and the lady said they are not actual margaritas but are made with wine and called winearitas. Gross! Tastes like cheap box wine that it was made with. Then after that they charged my husband for our meal and I wanted nachos. Then we ordered a second set of nachos for our son. After they charged us twice they realized they were out of nachos and hamburgers. Are you serious? First impressions are important to me so I guess I won't be going back. And for everyone who wants a margarita don't order one there. They are gross and we didn't even get our money back for false advertisement. They were in a regular size plastic cup and $6 each. There were 4 ordered for my entire group so what a waste of $24! Lesson learned! read more
