Our server, Cassandra, was clearly overwhelmed and poorly trained, but the bigger issue was management. Throughout the entire 2.5-hour meal, managers avoided eye contact, ignored repeated attempts to get assistance, and provided no support to their staff or customers. We had 6:00 PM reservations and did not receive drinks until nearly 55 minutes after being seated. We had to ask for water after over an hour. Food arrived almost two hours later, and dishes were brought out at completely different times, leaving some people eating while others waited. My 87-year-old mother's hot pot roast was literally dropped across the table in front of her without care or professionalism. Meanwhile, tables seated after us were consistently served before us with drinks, food, and checks. No appetizers or desserts were ordered because service was so slow and inattentive that we were never even offered them. The food itself was average at best, and the drinks were oddly executed. Margaritas came in pint glasses with no salt unless specifically requested beforehand, and a cosmopolitan was poured tableside while part of the drink was left behind in the shaker and taken away. For a $500 bill, this level of service was unacceptable. We remained patient and respectful throughout the evening, but the complete lack of management presence, organization, and hospitality made this a frustrating and disappointing experience. read more

My wife and I went to the Loft last night for an early dinner as is our Saturday night routine. Unfortunately our meal was not the best it could be. I ordered steak frites and I paid $30 for a plate of fresh fries. The steak that came was already sliced which isn't my preference but I will accept that if and only if the steak was good and it was not. The steak was very tough, so tough that I could not eat the last three cut pieces of steak. I ate the first three hoping that the final three pieces of steak would be somewhat tender but the entire steak was a very tough cut of meat. My wife ordered steak tips and although she was fairly satisfied, she took home three tips for our two dogs. But her mashed potatoes and broccoli were good she advised. I don't think writing bad reviews but sometimes it is necessary. I hope the management of the Loft requires it meat vendor to provide a better cut of meat. read more

We went Friday night around 7:30 for dinner. It was very crowded and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. There was live music too; kind of loud but they were very talented. We sat and it took about 5 minutes for our server to come. I got a mocktail which was very tasty. Our food took about 30 minutes to come out, which again, it was crowded. We had to flag our server down to get waters when our drinks were empty. He did not ask my husband if he wanted another beer. I got the chicken pot pie. There were huge chunks of chicken, I wish they were a little smaller, but pretty tender. The crush was good too, but I overall did not enjoy the flavor of gravy. My husband got the lobster Mac and cheese and that looked like it was forgotten in the oven for a bit. However, there was so much huge pieces of lobster that were good. The macaroni itself lacked flavor. Overall, we might come back but the service left a lot to be desired. read more

The last time we were there, the place seemed so dingy and dark. We were seated and the table was filthy. There weren't that many people in the restaurant so not sure why they sat us at a dirty table. I looked at my husband and motioned with my head toward the door. Sat out front for almost 15 minutes nobody looking to seat 3 couples. We finally went to bar they had seen us but nobody came out to see if we need to be seated. Totally disorganized waitress came over after sitting for a bit took our drink order; 5 minutes later another waitress came over and said she was taking over. We told her we gave our app and drink order; she asked to take it again. The place needs a good cleaning doors, etc. sticky grimy. The menu is not great.....the food was just ok. The Loft restaurant is easily described. Very high prices, small portions, and now reading other reviews there is a health problem due to rodents? The last thing that I want to do is go to a restaurant hungry, spend a lot of money and leave still hungry. Absolutely no room for this place to also be filthy as described in previous reviews. I stopped going in early 2004. The previous loft before the new owners took over was epic. Best Nachos and burgers ever. Been 20 years since being there and it seems from other more recent review that bad is going to worse. I ordered off the specials menu, a north shore roast beef sandwich. The RB was billed as rare and served the traditional three way; cheese,mayo, bbq sauce on an onion roll. I asked to hold the bbq and just do cheese and mayo. The server wrote it down and repeated it back unprompted. Drinks were slow but it was busy so ok fine. Meal comes, server disappeared. Smallest onion roll available commercially that looks sandwich~like. No cheese or mayo, things are getting bad. The billed rare RB was gray....dry and well overcooked. The roll was liter stale adding another layer of dryness. Wife's ribs were tough and tasteless. My beer seemed off but I'll give that a pass. Went tonight for early dinner. Their was a small wait, no big deal. Seemed like they were short on servers. Everyone is! We sat upstairs. Got drinks & ordered. GF got tacos & a salad. No clue how these guys are still in business. We showed up to an pretty empty restaurant for trivia night around 6:30. there were maybe 2 people at the bar and we were the first table seated upstairs where they do the trivia. Ordered a beer, a cocktail, 6 wings and the pretzel sticks. For being completely empty it still took 5 or so minutes for our beer to show up. It took 40 minutes for the wings to show up, they were just fine. Not great but not bad..... It took an hour and 15 minutes for the preztel sticks to show up. They clearly sat under a head lamp for at least a half hour. They were dried up, the cheese "sauce" on top had already hardened and the salt they sprinkled on top was already half dissolved. We didn't eat them and sent them back. The waitress was mostly incompetent and then rude when I showed her the pretzels to send them back. The way she spook (very slowly and slurred) made us think she was either drunk or high. We had to repeat everything we said to her multiple times and she would just stare at us and still repeat it back incorrectly. The other wait staff in general seemed to be clueless, we were asked multiple times "did you guys order this?" for food that was another tables. My family & I were on a trip to Nova Scotia from Pittsburgh & arrived to Andover for the night at 8:45pm & needed dinner. Thank goodness we found this place, it was open until 10pm. The pub is welcoming with a big wooden bar & friendly staff who sat us immediately (party of 5) We wanted to eat lite because we had ro wak up at 6am for a 5 hour drive to Canada. The food was amazing! Most of everything is fresh caught & with locally made ingredients. The New England Clam Chowder absolutely loved up to its name & would make New England proud. It was the best chowder I've ever er had. My Chicken Ceasar chicken was lean, grilled,very flavorful, & not dry at all! The dressing is made in house & was creamy & flavorful! The Lobster Mac & Cheese was the definition of comfort food with BIG chunks of lobster in it! Aaaaamazing!!!! Made with in house cheese & local ingredients! I can't recommend this restraunt enough for the amazing food, kind staff, chill atmosphere, excellent cocktail & beer selection (sadly we didn't have any because we had to get up early), & their accommodation of not closing early & allowing us to eat there close to closing time. Yikes! I would highly suggest people go anywhere else. The place is old and dirty. The menus are super gross, mine was stained and had some hair stuck in the sleeve cover. Service was not good, friendly, or approachable. The food was very overpriced considering it was bland and lackluster at best. Under the same ownership as Joe Fish Seafood Restaurant next door which is also awful so it makes sense. In desperate need of a full renovation and update there from the physical building to the menus, etc. Both places were built a long time ago and are just existing. Table we were sat at was dirty and sticky too so pretty gross. When we asked our waitress about it we got some attitude and ended up cleaning most of it ourselves with our napkins and water. Everything just seems dirty and dusty in there, and if it looks that way where customers are, then it makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like?! My advice, STAY AWAY! read more

This local stop is unfortunately hit or miss. Tonight ordered the "smoked manhattan" special drink. Wasn't smoked and didn't come with badabing cherry as advertised. They were out of the buffalo wontons. Ordered onion strings - brought out onion rings. When questioned about it "oh they must've changed it". Used to love this restaurant now it's Horrible. Cold food and saw multiple mice run across the floor. Service wasn't great, waitress was odd and had a strange attitude. Whole place was filthy. Floor was grimy, Lights flickering the entire dinner. Place has really gone downhill. Whoever's managing clearly doesn't care anymore. For those of you have read my comments before you know I have been critical of The Loft's associated restaurants, Hopothacary Ales and Joe Fish. I am here to tell you that The Loft is the best of the trio, not overpriced, like Joe Fish, and not an overly limited menu like Hopothecary. A diverse menu of reasonably priced entrees with real quality preparation, coupled with friendly service makes for a really good dining experience. We started with the Brussels Sprouts appetizer, which was delicious, but vegetarians beware, it is loaded with meat, not just a sprinkle of bacon, but chunks of brisket... more brisket than Brussels Sprouts. Delicious, but a surprise and the only reason this is not a 5-star review. She and I both ate the ribs, a half rack for her and a full rack for me... fantastic! We had them served with sweet potato fries that were yummy. We also had their hot cornbread who's was pure heaven. No room for dessert but a cup of coffee went down easy. As for adult beverages, there was a limited selection of beer and wine, but something for everyone., along with a full bar. We went to the Loft on 4/25/25 @ 4to5pm. We were seated to a booth table where the waitress came over and asked us what we wanted for drinks. My girlfriend is a woman of color and I'm a Caucasian man, were both in ours 60's. The waitress gave us our drinks and my girlfriend asked if they had fish and chips which she said yes ,then she walked away putting her order in and totally ignoring me all together!! I said what's going on to my girlfriend , she then went on cleaning the tables around us continuing to ignore us. This went on for about 15 minutes!! A man with a order pad came to our table and asked what we wanted and was describing the menu and suggesting other places he recommended for other food establishments. He gave us a complimentary basket with chips and onion dip till we got our food. I never got a explanation why she ignored me , and never asked what I wanted? I asked him if he was the manager or the cook, he said no. I felt he was lying and tried to make things good! I feel it was reverse discrimination on me since I was with a woman of color. The food was average at best , portions were small and somewhat pricey. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN! BTW I WOULD FIRE HER FOR THE TREATMENT TO ME. read more

Our group of friends gets together every year around Christmas to catch up. This year we picked the Loft. In fairness to the loft we did select a Monday night... I am sure the staffing is cut done but made a reservation for 12 in advance. I wish they told us they could not handle us. What a mistake! We are all 50-60 years old and were looking to spend some money and have a fun night. First dissappointment was the restaurant is called "the Loft" and the loft was closed. Ok.. the second and worse part was the bartender.. she had no intention on checking in on us which absolutely cost her and the restaurant alot of money... getting her attention was impossible as she just talked all night to her regulars! we were there roughly 3 hours and getting 2 drinks per person was nearly impossible! Her only interest was to talk the whole evening to some of her regulars. Went Wednesday night and clearly they had the D team of cooks on.My 2 year olds kids meal was an grilled cheese and the cheese wasn't even melted,Not to mention the actual plate was insanely hot. My family and I have always loved the loft so it's with a heavy heart that I write this review. This restaurant has been in the decline for several years now. It started back in 2020 when they stopped serving bread/rolls and homemade potato chips due to COVID. I understood at the time but they never brought it back ! Then they stopped offering two sides for the entrees and just offered one. I was still fine because they had the best, most tender baby back ribs. I could accept they had to cut back to turn a profit. Tonight however it changed. I ordered the half rack of baby back ribs and for the first time in over 25 years of eating here, they did NOT fall off the bone. They were tough and I had to use a knife. My husband ordered the same as his were just as terrible. The barbecue sauce was still good but these were tough and just awful. Sad day because I was trying to still love this place but there is nothing left. You used to wait hours for a table , now there is no wait. I know see why. Just came here for lunch. Ordered a Ruben. Asked for mashed potatoes instead of fries. Sandwiches was somewhat lacking in the meat but I understand food costs are high, however I literally recieved a tablespoon sized amount of mashed potatoes. Seriously. My wife and I and our two adult sons just had a great restaurant night out. It was our first time there. My youngest absolutely loved the smoked BBQ brisket grilled cheese. My wife loved the lobster Mac and cheese. My other son got a chicken sandwich and I made the mistake of only ordering a salad when I should have ordered my normal go-to baby back ribs. The table next to me ordered them and they looked awesome. Loved that they had local Riverwalk IPA on tap. And in the end the check was reasonable. We'll definitely be back. read more

This place was a big surprise. It was absolutely packed, but we were able to get a table/seat in 10-15 minutes. The bigger surprise was how fast we got everything we ordered. Our server Amy was a super nice woman. She was fast, attentive, and accurate! There was also another employee/waiter/possible busboy with super blonde, long hair, who was "Johnny on the Spot" with everything! Visited there on Saturday night. It was busy but one of the hostesses found us a great high top in the bar area. Our waitress was one of the best I have seen in a long time. Loved her job and had been there 5 years. I think her name was Tawney. Just a great experience. Food. Small but nice menu. My date had the chicken pot pie and was very impressed. Started with the salted caramel chicken wings. Unbelievable! Best wings I've ever tasted. Crispy, hot, then the caramel. Mmmmmm. My wife got the Red Dragon Asian marinated sirloin and I got the tenderloin medallions béarnaise, both were Mother's Day specials. Cooked perfectly. The Asian marinade is spicy so heads up.
