This is a clean, well lit facility with easy access. However, this place is expensive, and they raise the rates after three months.

We needed a couple rental units during a move; Doug and Randy were awesome to work with.

Terrible service. Difficult to rent as the onsite staff is just one person so you have to catch her…read morewhen she isn't on break, lunch or doing something else. I rented my outdoor vehicle storage spot for a 25' Camper. On the phone they said it would fit no problem. But the spot was in a location that the only way I could back the unit in was if the spots across from me didn't have anyone in them. The second issue is there are two entry gates at different ends. One has been inoperable for months which reduces option to get your vehicle in and out given the tight space. The biggest issue however was I rented the spot for $115/mo. Within 30 days they increased the rate to $217 and at 6 months raised it to $297, nearly tripling the original cost. Clearly a bait and switch business model hoping that the pain of relocating your stuff will box many people in.

I originally found Extra Space based on Google reviews, and quickly learned that the main reason…read moretheir reviews are so numerous/positive is that they aggressively ask you to provide them - it's even in the signature of all of their emails. The issues started before I moved in. I toured a unit, showed interest in renting it, and was told it was reserved after providing my driver's license/info. To sign the paperwork, I apparently needed a formal appointment on a different day. I set up an appointment to return a few days later, and then came to find out that they gave the unit to someone else, had no appointment, and didn't have any more of my size remaining. I only found this out because multiple (!) sales people called me asking if I was still interested in a unit. After they offered me smaller units at a higher price, they were eventually able to find me a comparably sized unit and offered to match the price due to the screw-up on their side. I signed all of the paperwork, paid the sign up fees/etc, and moved in. I then got my first bill for nearly double the price that I was quoted. After several emails and phone calls, I was finally able to get this sorted out but it was not a good start. However, that was only the start. What lost my business was their no-notice disregard of previous commitments to lock in rental prices. When I first moved in, it was explained to me that I had the option to pay in advance. If I paid at least 2 months out, my future rental rate would also be locked in and not increase. This applied to all of the months that I prepaid, as well as my future rate and was mentioned multiple times by multiple managers. If I didn't prepay, I was told that rate increases would be $10-15/month once or twice a year. I decided that prepaying was worth it for me, and rented for several years without my rate going up (at one point, I missed a prepayment and my rate went up $12/month, which I thought was reasonable, and in line with what I had been told previously). Then in fall 2022, I received a notice in the mail that my rate was going to literally double, despite the fact that I had pre-paid into 2023. I called the facility, and talked to the new site manager explaining the error. He was sorry, but said that price locking future rates wasn't a policy anymore and while he could bring the rate down slightly, it was still an increase of over 50% from what I was paying (despite the website being cheaper). He told me to keep calling over the next few weeks to see if the rate would change, but it never did and then he disappeared. No one answered the phone at the facility, and I finally had to get in contact with corporate & the regional manager. They were of little help - while they gave me a one-time credit to match the difference for a month or two, they wouldn't honor the previous price or commitment. At this point, I decided that I was done - this company was not honoring their word and had no problem doubling the rental rates of their existing customers. Unrelated to any of the above factors, the facility often had people's garbage/junk strewn about, the exit door to the pull-through was often out of service for weeks at a time, and it wasn't unusual to only be able to find few or no moving carts, even when vacant. I can think of at least half a dozen site managers in the time that I had to work with people there, and that's just what I knew of - there were likely far more. Even moving out, they screwed up my billing (which thankfully did get fixed). Self storage should be easy and involve minimal interaction with staff, and honest/up-front billing. If a policy changes, they should tell you. Extra Space Storage is deceptive and predatory on established customers since they know that moving out is inconvenient. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your storage needs and to avoid this facility and company. If the price looks right, it won't stay that way.

My two daughters ( age 35+) live like most people in small rental apartments, so I still store furniture etc for them too. I was in three (!) 30 ft deep X 13 ft high X 10 ft wide units with public storage. $$$.... Now it is down to two. This took (3) four week trips from FL. In 1.5 years. Donated everything to Salvation Army St Paul. Husband became extremely ill eleven years ago. We are in a lovely FL. condo he inherited. MISS Minnesota... people, culture, weather - - LOVE the cold!!!! I now have two brand newly built extra large units at Forest Lake - - grabbed them quickly for they rented out super fast. Great price. New wood pallets on entire floor. Never have water in these units, very high airy ceilings with great ventilation. Yes no heat no air conditioning so no fragile furniture, vinyl, wood, etc, but I put clothing etc in tight giant contractor extra thick plastic bags into tight big Costco ( yellow black) plastic storage boxes ( the Best/ shut very tight). I will be out of a second 30 ft unit at public storage after 1-2 more four week trips. Back breaking work - - am creating a new industry of folk buying my things at Salvation Army then flipping them online! We always expected to be in Mn but the condo's living costs are better than renting today. Goal is to find a solid 1 bedroom in MN, build out to be able to remain until I pass on, rent out FL condo. Reverend Jim the manager is the best, the kindest man you could ever ever find and work with. No bugs no rodents all these years. Immaculate rest room at office, safe secure, no crazies renting ' next door'. Women working there solo feel 100 % safe. High fence with barbed wire surround the large rural country property. Nice relaxing 30 minute drive up from the twin cities. Highly highly highly recommend!!

It was dirty, full of feathers, bird poop, spiders and stunk like motor oil. The door came off the hinges and they had limited access hours. We needed an additional storage unit and found Tim at FL Mini Storage to be super helpful. We ended up liking it so much we talked to Tim about getting a bigger unit. He came through and we moved all our belongings from the other storage facility. Tim was terrific to work with and the units are clean, secure and they offer 24-hour access. We always feel safe, and we appreciated the location is easy to get to. If you need storage for the short, or long term, we highly recommend FL Mini Storage.
