We happened to stop by this place, passing through town, and we were so pleasantly surprised! They had several good vegetarian options in addition to the burgers, etc. which made us (two vegetarians) happy! The thai chili onion rings were the best onion rings I've ever had, easily. The garlic parmesan fries were amazing. The caprese sandwich and veggie burger were fresh, tasty, and very generous with the yummy ingredients. The drinks were nice and strong. The service was relaxed and friendly. If you're anywhere near the area, go check this place out- don't be put off by the exterior, which does not look like a "pub." The feel is more of a comfortable local diner with a bar, than a pub. Very pleasant to sit and eat there. We are going to make it a point to go back sometime, even though we don't live nearby! read more

Went there for the first time on a Saturday night to meet up with some friends and watch a band play. The place is smaller and unassuming but inside is a gem! The beer selection is awesome and includes a lot of craft beers and microbrews. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced - you have to get their onion rings and housemade horseradish sauce, they were fantastic! The owner was behind the bar, very friendly guy and was on the ball with our refills and requests. We will definitely be heading back to The Local. read more

Stopped by here for lunch on a road trip to Vermont. I just got a grilled cheese... But it was great! Sourdough bread was yummy and tomatoes tasted fresh. My hubby got pulled pork grilled cheese and he said it was awesome. French fries were cooked perfect. Our server was a sweet young girl. She was right on top of things. Bacon. Beer. Bands !!!! We were staying at the Inn down the street, and it was suggested to us that we have dinner here. At first we weren't sure it was the right place, the big windows make it look more like a sandwich shop vs. a restaurant, but we wandered in. They don't have many beers on tap, but the selection in bottles and cans is amazing. We grabbed a couple of apps, watched some tv then decided to wait to check out the band. While looking over the menu, I noticed a theme ... BACON so I asked "how much bacon do you serve in a day" the response was "about 3-4 lbs, and we don't serve breakfast" then he went on to say that all of the bacon was apple wood smoked from a local farm. All of their food is served in little plastic baskets, I got the turkey, apple, bacon grilled cheese sandwich which was very good, and my boyfriend was rendered speechless with the homemade sriracha ketchup that came with his fries. I'm in Warner frequently and I always find myself at The Local. It's a great stop. They have beer and tasty food. In Warner, it's the best place to get food. I ordered the reuben which I have stuck with. I also love the garlic parm. fries - they have so much BUTTER on them! I also enjoy the asian slaw. I've seen some salads that I plan to order next time I'm there. I like the side salads - just plain simple salads. I've been during lunch and dinner. When I went for dinner they had live music that was great. I've also gone alone and just chilled at the bar. read more

I've been here several times and I haven't had a bad time yet. It's not a fancy place, kind of a hole in the wall place. Every thing I have tried here has been great. The salads are fantastic, they are huge. I've tried the egg rolls every time we go and I haven't had a bad one yet. Can't wait to go back again! read more

I stopped in for a quick dinner on a Monday night. I had a sandwich, fries and a beer. The place is not fancy, is very casual and has great food, and service. They have a great beer selection and a good variety of food. The place has a bunch of TVs for sports and seemed to be very clean. Much like the name implies, it has a nice hometown feel to it. We got off the highway looking for something quick and drove past this little gem. The prices are excellent and the food is even better. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel welcome. I had the buffalo chicken salad for lunch today and it was yummy, especially the blue cheese dressing which claims to be homemade. Buffalo sauce can sometimes be overused but not here. I was encouraged by the owner to give the tavern another try and I am glad we did. I went with the burger again and it was much better and my wife stayed with the salad since she liked it the first time there. Our server was very nice and attentive and we had a nice long conversation with the owner about acoustic music in the region. I would definitely go again. read more

What a pleasure to find this place on our way up to Montpelier for Easter! The dining area is spacious and light-filled, the service is friendly and fast, and the food is absolutely delicious. I had the Local Burger with cheddar cheese, which came perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful, with crisp lettuce, tomato, and onion, on a grilled brioche bun. The side of fries was also perfectly cooked. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich, with fries and coleslaw and pronounced each element delicious. What boosted the whole experience to another level was the complex and mouthwatering bbq sauce that was served with both sandwiches. It had the sweetness and smokiness of American sauces, but with a couple of hints of Asian flavors (Sriracha? Duck sauce?) that kept us on our toes. The restaurant is located in the center of a bustling small town that looked charming and prosperous. We want to return for more delicious sandwiches, as well as to try the coffee shop across the street and the bookstore on the next block. read more
