nothing too fancy here, in half of an old grocery store BUT service was pleasant and helpful and the food was great, i had the breakfast burger, ate only half, great burger with ham and egg, plus fried onions and i had the small garden salad which was very good, wife had the rachael, also got to bring home half , and it was great too, also the corn chowder which was a special and had sort of a different flavor so not a hit, but everything else was!! daughter had the apple something sandwich, also very good....did i say nice beer selection wan we had 2 reasonably priced good martinis!!! noted they also have music some evenings... like this place!!! read more

The Local is definitely what it claims to be, a great place to hang out with your friends, have a few drinks and catch up on local news. The food is excellent, especially with their newly expanded menu. There is something for everyone including the bacon bouquet, the caprese sandwich and the volcano burger. There is a great beer selection and Bill, the owner/bartender, will also mix you up a fantastic drink. The wait staff is relatively young and inexperienced (the usual for a small town), but they are responsive if you tell them clearly what you need. Started with the clam chowder, a local IPA & koelsch beer. We had the pulled pork grilled cheese and pastrami melt with sweet potato fries and onion rings. All of it was amazing! The corn bread with a bowl of chowder would have been a perfect lunch on its own. While we went heavy, the salads and veg items on the menu looked equally good. Highly recommended! read more

Came by during open mic, put on by Rachel, and although it was a very cold night with little people out, the atmosphere was still great, and I really enjoyed hanging out. The food was pretty good, although they need to improve their sides. They brought the sandwich out with some greasy potato chips, and then later with some really salty tortilla chips. I ordered sweet Tea with dinner last night. The food was ok. I asked for a refill on my tea, (which they are small glasses) she was quick to bring me another glass. When I got the bill I was charged $3.50 for each. $7.00 for about 4oz of tea is way to much and should be told beforehand no free refills. Will probably skip this place next time. read more

I found this place coming up Route 89 heading to Sunapee about 3 years ago. I love this place. Each time I come here the menu seems to change-- a few new additions, and it tastes great. We are locals to the Local......and it is a great place. Looking at all the reviews, I cant believe anyone didnt say anything about their EGGROLLS! They always have the vegetarian one on the menu but we live for the Eggroll of the Day!! SO good! Chicken Bacon Ranch is one of our favorites.....there are some southwestern rolls, steak and cheese, pastrami, etc....Like tonight, we will stop and get the EGGROLLS and come home for (the previously planned) salad!. Great little bar with a delicious chocolate orange stout. I only recommend having one. The burgers are delicious and juicy. The cranberry, walnut salad with blue cheese is delicous but a little on the pricy side for what it is. Small town bar so everyone knows everybody. The bar tender is really nice. I ordered the chili there a few times and it was a little diffeferent and spicer than I am used to. Not sure if they use a different type of meat in it. Overall I would go back. read more

We love our "Local". The owners are real good people . They make most of their own soups, sauces and slaw. The sandwiches are always so fresh and love the bacon on the delicious burgers. Thank you Yelp! We were driving north on 89 and started looking for a place to eat. Up came "The Local". Just a short ride off the interstate, we walked into a friendly, unpretentious and interesting dining room with local flair intermixed with a Boston sports bias. Everything looked clean to us, which is also a good sign. I asked the server "First time here, what should I have?", and she responded "everyone loves the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese", so we each got one. Very happy. Started with a nice garden salad (not iceberg lettuce!!! yay!!! and included with the meal!!! yay!!!) and then received a great looking sandwich with bread grilled perfectly and pulled pork that was tasty and not too messy (it stayed on the sandwich). Very good taste and savored every bite. Very reasonably priced and attentive service too! So we're coming back next time to try a burger, because the descriptions sound so good on the menu. read more

Really? Who are these people writing these favorable reviews? These cornball antics may play well in the sticks, but this is Capitol City......er, wait, I am in the sticks. Maybe that explains it. We were drawn here because of the great beer selection initially. After looking at the menu with its appealing pub fare and reading the favorable reviews it seemed like a must try. All I can say is terrible. Low grade food prepared by inept teenagers is the best way to describe it. No love whatsoever - everything was slopped together and tasted like it came out of a can or sat under a heat lamp for hours. I'd be surprised if the fryolator oil has ever been changed. Never again. I guarantee you will find better food in a dumpster. The beer selection is the only redeeming quality, hence the one star. The food was stale, cold and old. Among the highlights...fries with dinner that must have been sitting under a warmer since lunch. The croutons on my salad were stale broken hot dog buns, no joke. Nachos has a few shreds of cold cheese and vegetables that looked so old, I hope they were pickled. It was so disappointing because the menu looks promising and hits a price point that suggests some level of decency. "Trainwreck" appears next to two menu items but applies to everything. Nothing in this place is fresh or prepared in a way that even aspires to mediocrity. Decor/atmosphere is a letdown, but the least of their problems. read more

Great burgers at a reasonable price and a surprisingly good beer selection. The Local is a pretty no-frills restaurant (it looks like it may have been a diner at some point), but it has a decent sized menu with all your typical pub food and a completely unexpected vegetarian menu. We stuck with burgers, one veggie and one beef, and were very satisfied. They don't seem too into gimmicks here so both were simple, but well prepared. I think they may even make the veggie burgers in house. The sweet potato fries are great (not soggy, salted), but I wasn't all that impressed with the regular fries. The beer selection skews local to NH (Great North, Henniker, Stoneface etc), but there are some other options from around New England. The bottle selection is big, but I didn't see much reason to order off it when the draft options were so good. read more

Wow! We just needed a place to quickly eat on our way to ski country and BOY! did this place fit the bill. Reasonable prices for the best burgers! And the pulled pork sandwich was heavenly. There is even a cool bar in the restaurant. Bathrooms were clean and the waitress was lovely and attentive. Very disappointing. Granted the fryolater wasn't working but wouldn't a restaurant be prepared with other options? A side of cornbread with a sandwich is a bit redundant. Maybe have a special of potato chips? The sandwich (trainwreck) was bland and the bread barely toasted. When asked about dessert, the waitress was non-commital. Maybe they had ice cream that we could add bacon to. Hello, dessert is an up sell. Makes the bill bigger, makes the tip bigger. Bathrooms were grungy. Staff seemed more interested in hanging around the bar than engaging the customers. No one seemed to care if we were there or not. Guess the Local isnt interested in the locals. read more

A friend and I were in Warner on a Wednesday night and strolled down to The Local. The restaurant is tiny with a diverse menu and quirky décor, which includes a chalkboard, a display of matchbox cars and photos depicting Warner throughout history. I ordered the Warner Salad, which was tasty, along with the sweet potato fries. My companion's first choice was not available, but he ate his entire order when it arrived. The service was brisk, although the place was packed. Based on this visit, I would recommend the Local to others. read more

We were visiting a friend in New Hampshire and decided to meet at The Local for lunch. I was surprised by the number of choices available on both the food menu and the bar menu. We started with the Honey Gorgonzola Bruschetta. The bread was fresh baked and the honey added just the right touch of sweetness. I ordered the pulled pork mac and cheese - AWESOME. I think that I have a new favorite meal. I washed it down with an incredibly tasty mix of hard apple cider and cinnamon whiskey called "Tony the plumber". Three drinks later I am glad my wife was driving. At the end of our meal, owner/chef Chuck came over to our table and shared some local stories. What a great way to spend an afternoon ! read more
