I've been to The Local twice now. Both times after going to Gull Meadow Farms and both times the food has been excellent. We love their gluten free cheese bread. I don't eat dairy now so this time around I got a delicious gluten and dairy free pizza with sausage, mushroom, and green pepper. The dairy free cheese was the best I've ever had. The owner is vegan and has dietary restrictions so they are well versed in dairy and gluten free. Other family members that do not have dietary restrictions loved the kids grilled cheese and regular cheese bread as well. We always have great friendly service and enjoy the food. Bill was a little over $100 for a family of 6 and 1 beer included. I'd consider this fairly affordable - even cheap! read more

You will absolutely need to add salt, pepper, and anything else you have handy to give the food any zip. The Local consistently puts together an awesome pie. It is not a light pizza, heavy with delicious dense crust and generous with toppings (especially cheese). I've had many different pizzas from here, and they're all great. Our go-to is a simple pepperoni, but you can't go wrong. It is a little expensive, but it's a great price per ounce. I am giving them 3 stars because they are not taking Covid seriously. Customers came in with no masks--actually one guest with no mask was a Pfizer employee! The waitress lowered her mask below her chin and talked with this gentleman--sticking her head under the protective shield so she was right on top of the guest sharing droplets! The food was great but and the waitress wore her mask appropriately when she came to our table but with both of us being high risk and still waiting for our vaccinations, we didn't appreciate them not taking this seriously. Made a reservation for an igloo at The Local. The conversation was great, the service not so much and the food was eh. Would definitely try it again when the waitress isnt under so much stress/pressure or whatever she was experiencing, also would have been great if someone had actually told us that our food would be lukewarm after waiting over an hour and 30mins outside in an igloo for it, and that they had to call in more ppl cuz the waitress was having something going on. No you don't understand the trauma this pasta dish has given me. Don't you EVER order any form of pasta here. I don't know how it's physically possible for pasta to be the texture of mashed potatoes but they did it. The garlic bread was bomb so I sadly got my hopes up, but the second I started stirring my pasta to try and get the sauce everywhere, it all starting clumping together. I don't know if they hand make their pasta but I literally wish they would just buy a box from the store over this. I literally need therapy after putting this in my mouth. I thought there was just too much cheese or that they added ricotta but the literal spaghetti noodle just creamed. I'm so sick I could cry in frustration all I wanted was pasta. Well, we often order lunch for the Gull Lake Community School Bus Garage. Service is always on time and deliverers are fun people to chat with. This is the first "solo" order I placed to go for family. We got a 10" cheese (I'm basic) A Thai Pie and a bbq pulled-pork All I can say is WOW! Delicious. Perfect cheese to sauce to crust ratio. In town for some golf and we were looking for a place to get some food. It was ok. I had the Oriental chicken wrap which came with homemade chips. The wrap was flavorful but nothing special. The chips were not good. I couldn't figure out if they were stale or if this was how they were supposed to be. Either way they weren't crispy. The onion, mushroom, and pepperoni pizza left a greasy trail on the plates and our hands, the flavor was off! It was good food and they did a pretty good job in these covid times of getting our food out fresh to us almost on time. We had eaten a pizza from here years ago when it was Sajos. We ordered tonight because one wanted a regular pizza, one wanted thin crust and pasta sounded good to me. So we ordered a regular cheese pizza (they goofed and made the thin crust the cheese...which upset the teenager) and a loaded thin crust (which they made the regular crust and that slightly irked the husband). But the pizza was good. Everyone ended up partaking in my lasagna rolls so that tells you those were a crowd pleaser. Right now (Dec) they have 3 igloos out front which always makes a fun and different dining experience. I don't know if they are first come or reservation needed but they were heated and a server was dedicated to them and doing a great job cleaning them up in between guests. The fam and I stopped in on a Monday night for a quick and simple bite to eat. We've ordered takeout from here a few times but this was the first time I've dined in. They've done a nice job updating what used to be Sajo's - updated decor, better seating, and a nice bar area. The menu is a good size - appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizza, and a handful of Italian entrees. There are a few things for those who are not in the mood for Italian food. We started with asiago stuffed gnocchi and fried mushroom appetizers. The gnocchi were like mini toasted ravioli, and were both stuffed and topped with Asiago cheese, served with marinara on the side. I managed to eat two - the family wolfed these down in minutes. The fried mushrooms were your standard food service mushroom, deep fried, hot and yummy. Both appetizers were served with their dipping sauces in pre-filled plastic containers with dates marked on the top. This was a bit off-putting. It doesn't take much extra time to prep a dip when ordered. Hopefully they will consider this for dine-in going forward. I ordered the Corona Battered Cod sandwich with potato wedges (a $2 up-charge from the standard chips). The sandwich was flavorful, served with tartar sauce, tomato and lettuce, and was not a bit greasy (always a fear with fried fish); the bun was soft but not squishy. A lovely sandwich. The potato wedges were crispy on the outside but not overcooked, and had a nice light seasoning. Hub ordered a mini seafood pizza which he declared "just right." Kid 1 had the cheese ravioli, which was a hearty portion, nicely sauced and topped with shredded cheese, served with garlic bread. Kid 2 had a mini pizza with bacon and nice big chunks of pineapple. Both pizzas were hand-tossed, with a nice chewy crust and lots of cheese. The Local has a full bar, and a nice selection of beers come in 2 sizes. Service was prompt, pleasant and attentive. Yes, some items are clearly food service/not house made, but the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the service was great. I've never been treated so poorly by staff or a restaurant in my entire life. Tonight we walked in at 8:50pm and sat down. I knew they closed at 10pm as that's what the lady said on the phone when I called her earlier that day. Immediately we were told that the kitchen was closed. No big deal, we only wanted drinks. Big mistake. From the second we sat down and ordered our drinks, it already felt like we were being pushed out. There were two ladies working, one on her phone the entire night in the back corner and the one waitressing our table, named Lauren. After about 10 minutes of having our drinks, Lauren comes back over and asks if we will be on separate tabs. Interesting.. she must really want us out as she didn't even ask if we wanted another or if she could help us out in any other way. We continued to finish our drinks and catch up. She then came over about 5-10 minutes later and persistently asked if she could close us out as she needed to finish up her book for the night. It was roughly 9:35. We went ahead and used the online QR code and closed out. However, none of us left a tip on the $6 drink we each had. I'm not one to not leave a tip, but I wasn't happy with how we were being treated. It was clear our waitress didn't want a tip either- but rather to just go home. As we finished up our conversations we took note of them turning the lights off around us and turning off tv's. Around 9:45 we got up to leave. It was at this point that Lauren rudely said to us "if you're going to keep us out this late, at least leave a tip". I then responded with how I felt her service was performed and how I felt we were being pushed out all night. She made sure to get across to me that "they had the authority to close up whenever they felt they wanted to".. interesting because when I called earlier someone said 10pm. I then said to her that this was the second time I had been to The Local and had the lights turned off on me before closing time. In which she replied "then why do you keep coming back?" What a nice thing to say to a customer. I only wanted a drink and it's not normally that hard to serve those. We asked for the owners contact and the only thing she told us to do was call the restaurant tomorrow. I'm disgusted with how we were treated. In a close community like Richland, I'm surprised this place is still up and running. I certainly don't want my friends and family going to this place to experience what I just went through. Judging by some of these reviews, it seems a lot of people could agree too. I wont be sending any service their way anytime soon. Do better! read more

Monday night my wife and I stopped by for beers and dinner looking forward to trying somewhere we've never been before. It was very slow, only 6 customer and two were chatting with the bartender while the other couples were having dinner. We sat down and waited, and waited while the bartender walked back and forth cleaning the counter, putting glasses away and chatting with the two people at the bar. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to finally come out from the kitchen and get our drink and food order. I understand Mondays can be slow, but you'd think the bartender would at least make eye contact and offer to get the waitress. The beers were good, the food was not. We ordered the Shrimp basket for $13 and the boneless chicken wings for $10, both came with side-salads which were pleasantly fresh and well presented. The shrimp basket came with 5 pieces of large shrimp and a large handful of fries. The shrimp were tasty but could have been cooked a little longer. There were some gooey spots on the underside. Portion and presentation definitely left something to be desired. The boneless chicken wings were a gooey mess that I don't think anyone would enjoy. I had a similar experience with a frozen bagged chicken nugget meal from the grocery store. The waitress was pleasant and checked on us from time to time so I give her credit, but I just felt there was no turning this meal around. Overall review: Pricey, less than average meal, nice little salad. Bartender needs to pay more attention to what's going on in the dining area and less time chatting with friends when customers walk in. read more

We had a group of 16 playing golf at Gull Lake View and we have ordered from this place in the past. I called at 12 pm to order pizza and wings to be delivered at 7:30 pm to the villas. I was put on a short hold and then the lady took my order and information. She was pleasant to deal with and took my order without question. The delivery arrived promptly a couple minutes before 7:30 and the driver was courteous. The pizza was very cheesy and the wings were great.
