The Local is hands-down one of my favorite spots in Petaluma! Whether I am ordering delivery to my office via Petaluma Food Taxi or visiting their physical location, the food is consistently fresh, healthy, and incredibly delicious. I went in February mainly because they were having a February special and collaboration with Ji's Kimchi. They offered three choices: The Kimchi Rice Bowl The Gina (a fantastic vegetarian option) The Ji Street )It was absolutely amazing)! I truly wish they would make these items a permanent part of the regular menu because they were that good. It's a combination of the good, fresh and premium ingredients they purchase and use and in this instance that also included Ji's Kimchi! This is my new favorite sandwich shop. Fresh, high-quality, and thoughtfully made. I tried the Petaluma sandwich with fresh sourdough, turkey, cheddar, pickled onion, avocado, and arugula. It's a classic sandwich, but every ingredient felt elevated. The guy working (maybe the owner) was so friendly and very helpful when it came to making a decision. They have plenty of vegetarian options. My sandwich was very good. Fun menu, killer flavor combinations. Quality of fresh, local food you can taste is worth the price. Only tried their sandwiches (on GF bread that's made locally). Due to sandwiches being made with decent meat portions (thank you!), the GF bread tends to be thinner and so it crumbles easily. Order to-go or grab a seat a one of their petite picnic benches inside. Very friendly welcomed when walking in + when you order, you can see them working efficiently in the back. read more

Just to preface, I'm at my core not a sandwich person. It takes a lot to wow me about sandwiches because I feel like the bar overall is so incredibly low. Think subway, togos, etc- just mass shredded iceberg, tomatoes that taste like water, and tuna that doesn't even have fish in it. That said, the hype about the local is so oversized, it's surprising. I tried their items when they were located at the active gym, and i thought they were ok, but even that felt like they were really expensive for a very small and just slightly above average sandwich. Once they moved to their new location, I was interested to hear all the write ups they were getting and thought "wow maybe they mixed something up and they're doing something different - let's give them another try." We have now been twice to their new spot, and both times our sandwiches were very pricey and very small, which would be ok if they were equally very delicious... but they were unfortunately not. I felt like for the price, the items were very unimpressive. The flavors were ok, the textures were ok, but the size for the price, not ok. Hubs got the pulled pork and I had the steak sando, both of which I make variations of at home, and the ratio of filling to overall sandwich was dismal. Check my photos, it looks like one of the sandwiches has literally a single slice of cheese. I'm constantly shocked they have sold out signs on the door, it makes me think they are trying to manufacture a demand for a product. I mean it did work on us, we went two additional times after we decided it wasn't worth it, just to make sure we didn't just catch them on an off day. As always, I'm happy to support local business and I'm happy to pay more for something really good and delicious, but this was not that...not the first time, or any times after that. I am so happy this place exists. I enjoyed my Seasonal rice bowl with chicken and the Aztec smoothie. The bowl was made with the freshest ingredients that blended perfectly together. It gave me poke bowl vibes without the seafood). I picked this smoothie based on its components and it was the perfect pick for me. A friend and I were in the area and decided we needed sandwiches, after a morning shopping. We saw this place was highly rated, so we went for it! We ordered the Petaluma and the special of the day, which was a toasty beef rib meat with slaw sandwich. Much like a pulled pork sandwich. We shared half of each, and could not decided which one was better! They were both amazing in their own ways! Know we are curious about the rest of the menu! The bread was top notch and the meat was generous! The sandwiches were both seasoned perfectly in my opinion, the beef sandwich had a spicy kick, but in the best way. Not over bearing, wipe my brow, way, just packed with flavor! They serve all our favorite drinks and great potato chip options as well. We love their sandwiches! Everything we have tried is delicious. They have excellent vegetarian offerings, including the Helen Putnam and Russian River, both on house made focaccia that is SO good. The Pastrami comes with grilled peppers, onions and chimichurri on fluffy house made Dutch Crunch. The place can get pretty busy and they sell out of stuff but I guess that's how it goes when you serve delicious food! read more

Another Petaluma eatery that Im so happy to have here and support! This place is legit based on my one dining experience there. I had the basic turkey sandwich because I wasnt feeling very adventurous our hungry that day. The sandwich itself was great the way it came. The soft sweet roll was slightly crunchy and very fresh. The turkey, cheese and veggies all were tasty and fresh. It was a very large sandwich. I only ate 1/2 at lunch time and saved the second half for an afternoon snack. A couple could honestly split a sandwich and be ok till dinner. My sandwich was reasonably priced at about $14 or $15. The more speciality sandwiches were closing in on $20 so not cheap but again the ingredients are all farm to table quality. I know that because my wife and our friends had the more elaborate sandwiches which they loved and which I will definitely try next time. We ordered on line and the sandwiches were ready as promised when I arrived on a recent weekday at 12:30 pm. read more

Never really knew the folks running it (Chris & Raul) -- just knew it was GOOD. To discover they've opened a bigger spot in Northern Petaluma - with an expanded menu was DELIGHTFUL. I literally cannot live without the cauliflower rice bowl with ginger and avocado and pickled onion and a yummy sauce ... Their sandwiches are well constructed & not mushy and unique yet not too out there! They survive a 2 hour trip to a music in the park picnic. Finally the smoothies! The Berry is my fav. I record the ingredients and try it at home but it's simply not the same!
