Belfare is as good as the hype. Very excellent fried chicken sandwiches. Juicy and tender chicken with a crispy seasoned breading, served with Cole slaw and pickles on a soft pillowy roll. They also have house made hot sauces on the table. The menu is short and sweet, only a handful of offerings. I had the fingerling potatos on the side. Stopped in for the basic fried chicken sandwich. Huge piece of tender, juicy perfectly cooked chicken on a freshly soft, pillowy roll. It comes with house made pickles and a very mildly spicy slaw on top. Exactly what I was hoping for. I'll definitely be back to try other items; the menu is pretty limited. Arguably the BEST place to get a chicken sandwich from in Petaluma...or even Sonoma county! Ingredients are always super fresh and the specials revolve around seasonal veggies which I love. My go to is the firehouse spicy chicken sandwich and I always get a side of the potatoes! So delicious everytime and the staff is incredibly friendly. read more

Ordered online and food was ready when I arrived. I should have written in the notes I wanted to eat in so they could have plated my salad. They were so accommodating and ended up plating it for us anyway. Sat down to wait for them to plate our food, they brought us water and chilled glasses. The food was amazing. Our group had the strawberry salad with fried chicken and farmer's salad with grilled chicken. We were not disappointed. Chicken was not dry, salads were dressed with the right amount of dressing and it had a touch of heat. Can't wait until I'm in town again to try the chicken sandwich. read more

Let me tell a little story about how amazing Belfare and the food wizards behind it are: We were having a birthday party and asked Erik and crew if they could make a tray of sliders for it. They also offered to do tenders since they knew we had little kids. I couldn't wait until picking up the order on the upcoming Saturday and decided to have their chicken sandwich for lunch on Friday. We did our math terribly wrong for the party and ended up with a bunch of leftover sliders. I'm on day 4 of eating them for breakfast (amazing with a fried egg and their crunchy chili oil), lunch, and dinner. We are finally cleared out of leftovers and I'm debating grabbing a breakfast sandwich from them in the morning when I drop off the borrowed tray. Simply, they are that good. My friend & I tried one of their chicken sandwiches while strolling through the Tuesday Farmers Market in the Lucchesi Center parking lot. It was ok, nothing spectacular to write home about but it did the job of being our lunch! Fast foward to Belfare now having opened a store front (they still do the Tuesday Farmers Market from what I'm told) that is open Monday through Friday 10am to 2pm and that's it. Was down in the area of their store front and it was just about lunch time so I swung in there and ordered the Fire House Special Fried Chicken Sandwich and Furikaka with sesame mayo fingerlings (their version of french fries) and I took it back to work to share with my friend. It was DEEEEELIOUS!! The Furikaka fingerlings were to die for (so addicting!!) and the way fill overfilled the box that we shared along with splitting the sandwich it was plenty of food for the two of us!! Wish they were open on Saturdays then I could go there more often, which may or may not be a good thing for my waistline and wallet. LOL If you are near their store front between 10 & 2 Monday through Friday or at the Tuesday Farmers Market at the Lucchesi Center I would highly suggest trying the fingerlings and the Fire House Special Fried Chicken sandwich!! read more

I live out of town, but I try and go here any chance I get, and every time is perfection! Their ability to have such consistency is rare in the food industry. It really can't be overstated how wonderful every single thing they serve is. The meals are perfectly cooked, seasoned and served up with attentiveness and most importantly kindness. Spring is here and so is the Spring Salad Yum Yum Yum are my three words for it. Fresh peas, delicious artichoke hearts , and other goodies and the perfect dressing. I ordered grilled chicken and added the sesame crunch spice that was offered to my chicken and this just was an amazing lunch. I will be back soon for that one. SOOOOO good in every way! Delicious, moist yet crispy chicken. We loved the sandwich, with the tangy simple slaw and the delicious pickles. Bread was super soft too. We've been wanting to check out Belfare for ages, but they're only open M-F and we both work so we've never had a chance. Thankfully, Monday was a holiday and we were finally able to check it out. We're glad that we did! We stopped in just after they opened and wanted to try a couple of the things from the menu, so we ordered a breakfast sandwich (with bacon, because why not), a crispy chicken sandwich, and the furikake potatoes. While we were waiting for our food, I was scoping out the sesame chili crunch and they were nice enough to give us some pickled vegetables drizzled with some of it to taste. The chili crunch is delicious - so much sesame flavor and not super spicy (just a hint of chili), and so much amazing texture from all the sesame seeds. We also tried out their hot sauces and both were really tasty. We ended up taking a bottle of the "Belfire" home with us. The breakfast sandwich was great, but who says you can't have a fried chicken sandwich for breakfast? The fried chicken sandwich is probably one of the best I've had. The chicken is super juicy and with a perfectly crisp, thin exterior that isn't so over-the-top thick that the chicken is no longer the star of the sandwich. The buns they use for both sandwiches are absolutely divine - so rich and flavorful, and yet soft and super pillowy at the same time. The pickles and slaw are cool, crisp, and tangy and work in absolute harmony with the fried chicken and the bun. I can't think of a more perfectly composed fried chicken sandwich. It really is that good! The furikake potatoes are dangerous. They're unassuming, but once you start eating them, you simply can't stop. The aioli that comes with the potatoes is so delicious and perfectly complements the potatoes. The only major bummer (for us) is that we'll have to wait for the next 3-day weekend to be able to get our next fix :) read more

Off the beaten path but IYKYK. Chicken sandwich is 10 outta 10- crispy but juicy with a soft bun and enough fixins to complement but not overtake the star of the sandwich. Homemade chips are a must. Nice staff with sunny attitudes. Excellent spot for lunch. read more

I used Belfare's catering for a memorial, and they were fabulous!! Eric helped me put together a great menu, the food was delicious, plenty of it. And the guest loved it. They help us place the salad so it would look as beautiful in my bowl as it did when they delivered. I would highly recommend them as a Caterer. read more

So I called in and ordered and it took about 15 minutes to be ready. The sandwhich was pretty yummy I loved how much chicken there was in it and the pickles were very good. I'm not too much a fan of the hot sauce but overall wasn't bad! The only bad part is I believe I spent about $23 for this on its own and that to me is way overpriced for what it is. I didn't even get fries or a drink. The people who worked there were very nice! I would recommend for the flavor but not the price. read more

Literally the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I only come on Yelp when it blows my mind so do not hesitate. Go get this, NOW! I mean it. My girlfriend and I had the classic fried sandwich and the special sandwich of the day which was a Jamaican Jerk fried chicken and they were TO. DIE. FOR!!! We sought out Belfare because I am forever on this quixotic quest for the best fried chicken sando. I've been disappointed many times, but this time...SCORE! Not only was the sandwich perfecto, the fingerlings were a big win too. The sauces that came with the potatoes- another win. The staff were all delightful, accommodating, and helpful. Dynamite chicken sandwich. I got the firehouse, which was awesome, and fingerling potatoes - also awesome. Ideally, I would've had another person to share the potatoes with bc a sandwich and potatoes was a bit much, even for my appetite. My only regret was taking it to-go. Traveling back to work made the sandwich a bit messier than it would've been if I had taken the time to eat there. Next time, I'm coming home with some of their homemade sauces. read more

Loved it! Very warm welcome as soon as I walked in. Love the small menu, so hard to choose everything sounded so good. I chose from the specials menu on the wall. Shivie is my inspiration: she lost pretty much a whole person in weight and by choice gave up a successful career that was slowly killing her. Crackers, pizza...each is a mouthful of wonderful combinations of flavors. Even though I am quite versed in raw cuisine, I think I will take one of their classes in the new year. Even though locations may change per tour, our group tasted a mix of cultures and got some stories behind the dishes, the restaurants, and their owners. Few examples - * Russian cuisine - Herring with a pickled onion on fresh bread * Indian street food - I was surprised how much I enjoyed this vegan street snack - I would have never ordered anything without meat, and I dislike spinach, but the fried spinach snack was mind-blowingly good. * Mexican - Quesadilla with plantain. Again, no meat but it was soooooo good. * Chinese - Glazed Pork and pork-filled bun I won't spoil the surprise for some of the other locations. And more, and more - Total of about 7-8 places. You won't stay hungry, guaranteed. The walk itself is not challenging; there are no hills to overcome, even though it's San Francisco. Don't wait - Just go!

All other things aside, the sandwich was okay. A pretty good reuben, but far from the best. The bread was super thin and not well toasted so it became really soggy. Soggy reubens are the worst. We've all had one before - the bread just disintegrated and it just started to fall apart. Overall, the sandwich was okay but there are far better places in town to grab a sandwich that will at least pretend they are happy you stopped by, and won't ask you for a tip for the privilege of doing so.
