Is it too early for a Sam Adams IPA?
    Scott W.

The Local @ ALB is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat or drink when at the Albany airport waiting for your flight. Today my Sister and I were flying to Baltimore together where we would have a short layover before going back home. Even though it was only 9:00am, we decided on a beer and an ALB Smoked Salmon Bagel ($14.89). My Sister bought my beer (Sam Adams New England IPA) so I am not even sure what it cost but with a bagel sandwich running almost $15, I am assuming it was not cheap. The Bagel sandwich was good but not worth $15 in my opinion. The bagel was fresh but not toasted and included cream cheese, smoked salmon, chopped egg, red onions and capers. If I were to order this sandwich again in the future, I would definitely leave out the red onions. Who needs all that mess on the plane? I am sure that some of the other food here is good but for me the pricing is a mixed bag between average and pricy. Some Items, I could see spending the money on but others like the Grilled Chicken Caesar salad for $16 or one of the higher-end Burgers for $15, I would most likely pass on (especially in an airport). Regardless of pricing, I would come back to the Local @ ALB on my next visit to the Albany Airport because my Sister and I shared a memorable experience here. The staff were polite & helpful, the tables were clean, the food was good and they have cold beer at 9:00am.

Bacon Cheeseburger / "house made" chips

Popped in here while waiting for a flight home. I had planned to eat at the fast food chicken place but as usual, the line was exceptionally long. Glad it was as otherwise I would not have experienced this place. Had a burger and "house made" chips. The hamburger was very good. I wish the chips were warmed but still tasty. This is a very good option if you need a meal at the Albany airport. The service wasn't fantastic but... not that bad. Had to go up to the bar to pay my bill as I needed to get moving. No biggie!

A good resting spot at the airport. The bartenders are very nice and attentive. I didn't have any of their food while waiting for my flight but the food that went past me looked pretty good. The Bloody Mary wasn't one of my faves though. Yes, it was perfectly garnished with fresh celery, lime and olives but the flavor of the Bloody Mary mix was strange. It had a weird smoky flavor to it almost like barbecue sauce. The bartender did state that they just switched over to their own brands Bloody Mary mix. Just not my cup of tea.

Bad service big time. One waitress/bartender for 50 people. Didn't even think about food. Go to Burger King.

Growing up, I was always under the impression that Hooters was the Mos Eisley Cantina of the restaurant world, a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Which caused me a decent bit of shock when I walked inside and saw several families with young children. Are the waitresses dressed in skimpy outfits? Yes. Is that my thing? No. But are Hooters Girls dressed any less than the waitresses at Brick House or one of the many other breastaurants? No. Actually, they're dressed not unlike what I remember people wearing in high school. I was here for one thing and one thing only: the all you can eat wing special for National Buffalo Wing Day. The wings are very expensive here normally, but AYCE for $16 is worthwhile. My first batch of 8 wings was "hot". IMO, it was on the level of a Buffalo medium. Not particularly spicy. Thinking that everything here was tame, my second batch was a very hot grilled flavor. Wrong choice on my part. That was VERY spicy, but still had an interesting tangy flavor. Third batch was something sweet, the General Tso. That sauce seemed very oily and didn't give the wings a thick coat, but I could taste the flavor. As far as the wings underneath the sauce, they were surprisingly good. I tend to be a purist and I despise breaded wings, but these actually tasted good. Large, juicy, and crispy on the outside. The breading didn't get soggy, a common thing that happens to breaded wings. Overall, my experience was a solid 4 and surprised me quite a bit. Dare I say these are the best chain wings out there? I would definitely consider returning if they're running a special, but if wings are normal price, $15 for 10 is waaaaaaaay too expensive.

My issue was with the changes the company has made to the sauces which to me just tasted like tasteless grease on the wings and not the tangy buffalo wings we have had and loved for many years. Wish they had not messed with a good thing. Wings were so bad and greasy, I could not finish them. They still offer their All you can eat special but I could not even finish my first serving of wings. So disappointing but you have a gem in your wait staff.

Despite her being the only person up front, she warmly welcomed everyone and the service was great. I met a friend of mine who was craving wings so she ordered some hot wings and I got the Turkey Brie sandwich, which had turkey, brie cheese, apples and cranberry mayo on ciabatta bread with a side salad. The sandwich was delicious and piled high with turkey. My friend loved her wings too. Overall, the food was great as was the service. Definitely recommend!

I ordered this as takeout and just had to take a couple of bites in the car before going home to try it nice and warm. This kind of sandwich is hard to find. A special roll needs to be used for this called a kimmelweck roll. A kimmelweck (or kummelweck) roll is a crunchy, Kaiser-type bread roll topped with coarse salt and aromatic caraway seeds, primarily known for defining the Buffalo, New York, "beef on weck" sandwich. Originating from 19th-century German immigrant traditions, they are usually filled with roast beef and soaked in au jus. The sandwich was loaded with juicy flavorful roast beef. The bun had caraway seeds and coarse salt all over the top of it which complimented the beef deliciously. It also had a horseradish sauce on the sandwich, so good. It was served with tasty fries and two little cups of au jus. I would definitely order this again.
