I hate hate haaaaaaate that I'm giving Hooters 4 stars and also that I stepped in a Hooters in the first place. Growing up, I was always under the impression that Hooters was the Mos Eisley Cantina of the restaurant world, a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Which caused me a decent bit of shock when I walked inside and saw several families with young children. Are the waitresses dressed in skimpy outfits? Yes. Is that my thing? No. But are Hooters Girls dressed any less than the waitresses at Brick House or one of the many other breastaurants? No. Actually, they're dressed not unlike what I remember people wearing in high school. I was here for one thing and one thing only: the all you can eat wing special for National Buffalo Wing Day. The wings are very expensive here normally, but AYCE for $16 is worthwhile. My first batch of 8 wings was "hot". IMO, it was on the level of a Buffalo medium. Not particularly spicy. Thinking that everything here was tame, my second batch was a very hot grilled flavor. Wrong choice on my part. That was VERY spicy, but still had an interesting tangy flavor. Third batch was something sweet, the General Tso. That sauce seemed very oily and didn't give the wings a thick coat, but I could taste the flavor. As far as the wings underneath the sauce, they were surprisingly good. I tend to be a purist and I despise breaded wings, but these actually tasted good. Large, juicy, and crispy on the outside. The breading didn't get soggy, a common thing that happens to breaded wings. Overall, my experience was a solid 4 and surprised me quite a bit. Dare I say these are the best chain wings out there? I would definitely consider returning if they're running a special, but if wings are normal price, $15 for 10 is waaaaaaaay too expensive. read more

Love Hooters and whenever I am out in Albany I make a stop at Hooters. Struggling with rating as our server Yarrah was five plus stars. She was amazing. My issue was with the changes the company has made to the sauces which to me just tasted like tasteless grease on the wings and not the tangy buffalo wings we have had and loved for many years. Wish they had not messed with a good thing. Wings were so bad and greasy, I could not finish them. They still offer their All you can eat special but I could not even finish my first serving of wings. So disappointing but you have a gem in your wait staff. read more

Go ahead and judge me. We all have our comfort foods, and Hooters wings are one of mine. Let me set the stage. The week prior I had been at Trader Joe's across the street, and smelled the wonderful aroma of fried chicken wafting across Wolf Road. And that planted the seed. Then I was coming home from helping a friend with an emotionally taxing errand. It was late. I was hungry. And this Hooters was on the way home. There were also a few things I needed to pick up at Trader Joe's. So I stepped through the doorway for the first time in years, for a little comfort. Not from the friendly waitresses who add a heart to their names when they write them on a cocktail napkin, but rather from a very specific food that I love which isn't available anywhere else. I don't come to Hooters for buffalo wings. That's madness. These breaded, deep fried wings, slathered in hot Hooters sauce are their own thing entirely. And you can get them in all flats. On this trip, I remembered to stay away from the industrial blue cheese dressing. But I forgot to ask for my wings extra wet. I do love that sauce. Do you want to know what else I love? I love that Hooters wings now come in a reasonable six piece sized serving! Now, of course, part of that has to do with the increasing cost of wings. Those six cost what ten wings used to cost not all that long ago. But that's of no matter. I'm not here for the value. I'm here for the unique flavor profile. Six wings is all anyone needs. I mean seriously, with the sauce that's about 1100 calories. Maybe more. But I'm not here for my health, I'm here for comfort. I also love that somehow Rare Form beer is offered on tap, right next to the big macro brews. That's madness. My Rare Form Freshy was delicious paired with the wings. Oh yeah, and a small one is still a pint. It's not cheap, but like I said, I'm not here for the value. It would be nice if the servers were provided uniforms that actually fit. I'm no prude, but when clothes are too tight they really aren't flattering. Presumably I hold the minority opinion on this. If I knew the secret to that sauce, and knew of anyplace else that made a kickass breaded wing, I'd go there instead. I came here with some friends for an NFL playoff game (the Bills lost...) and having never been to a Hooters before, didn't quite know what to expect. Despite one of my friend's claiming otherwise, I still wouldn't classify this place as "family friendly" (if you know what I mean) though there were indeed some families here. The staff were very friendly (if you know what I mean) and competent and we didn't have to wait long for our food. But, I came here for the food and the NFL which is what my review is primarily based on. There were plenty of televisions all around, and with only one football game on they were nearly all tuned to it. The booth we had was pretty comfy, and they had smaller tables and taller high-tops which meant that just about every type of seating preference could be met. The place wasn't packed during the game and was very empty for a Saturday afternoon when we arrived, which I thought odd. It was loud, but that is typical of a sports bar. We ordered three types of wings, tator tots, and beer. The Tator tots were topped with cheese and bacon, which were fine but I thought that the bacon was skimpy. The "Daytona Beach" wings, which are non-breaded plain wings covered in a sauce and then grilled, tasted very odd to me. It had an off flavor I couldn't put my finger on, and in general I found them unpleasant. The bacon-wrapped wings were saltier then regular non-breaded wings but beyond that I don't think the bacon added much. Maybe a little smoke, but not enough to justify the price premium. The breaded wings in concept were fantastic... like little pieces of friend chicken. I loved the huge amounts of breading that were super crunchy, and just wished that more Buffalo sauce had been applied. Lesson learned: order them "wet" next time. We got one wing in our batch that wasn't fully cooked. For 18 wings, an order of tator tots, a soda, and a couple beers including a pitcher it was $96. That's insane even for good wings, which these weren't. I might come back for their all-you-can-eat breaded wings as I really want to try them again. But, in general the food is pretty average at best. You come to Hooters to have a good time (if you know what I mean), not necessarily for a gourmet experience. read more

I remember a long time ago, when I enjoyed going to Hooters. That was a long time ago, and boy have things changed, and not much for the better. I used to frequent this establishment when I first moved to Albany and lived walking distance. Friday night at the bar, was convenient and tolerable, and most spent drinking and watching sports. One Friday I was hungry and decided to order some wings and buffalo shrimp. I was deeply disappointed, only because it tasted nothing like the Hooters I remembered. The wings were soggy, not crispy, and the shrimp the size you get in a can. I later moved away, and thought nothing of it and hardly returned, until a few weeks ago I saw a FB add that said all you can eat for #nationalchickenwing day. I thought, "Why the heck not." Considering the price ($14.99) was only a dollar more than 10 wings ($13.99) and the waitress said any wing types applied, unlike their usual weekly all you can eat specials of one kind. I wasn't that hungry, but since she said I could sample a couple flavors, and considering the only thing this place had going for itself was the unique new wings styles: Daytona, bacon wrapped, and smoked, not to mention all the new flavors, I figured why not. I asked for the Daytona grilled wings. About half an hour later my wings arrived (grrrrrr), and they were not Daytona (double grrrrrr). They were typical wings in some kind of honey glaze, which I hate. I told her I ordered Daytona wings, and she said those were not part of the all you can eat deal. That was the exact opposite of what she just said to me earlier when trying to sell me on deal. So, then I asked, "Well, then I guess you just give us whatever is up there instead of asking." She looked at me confused, and I just told her to forget it. She then asked, "Do you want me to put your 2nd order in advance, so you don't have to wait?" Now, if she really meant what she said, I probably wouldn't be writing this. I of course agreed, but first confirmed that the smoked wings were included. She told me to wait while she checked. She came back quickly and said that they were, and placed the order. Fast forward 40 minutes and 2 beers later, and the restaurant is now feeling like a sauna. No idea what the problem was, but the AC wasn't working. The waitress at the bar had fans blowing to cool them down. Maybe this was to make you drink more. I don't know, but it was very uncomfortable, since it was over 85F outside. In addition, my 2nd order was nowhere to be found. I left 4 wings of my first order of eight on my plate, since I wanted to enjoy my second order, and really didn't care for the wrong order they gave me. My waitress finally came up to me, and asked how I was doing. I said, "I don't know, how is my order of smoked wings coming?" I'm sure you can all imagine the look on her face, which told me my wings were not coming anytime soon. She went to the kitchen and came back, saying that they were really backed up and my smoked wings would be coming soon. "Yeah, right!" I thought. Over an hour after I ordered my 2nd set of wings I realized it was one of two things, a scam, or poor management. I noticed many others waiting with empty plates. From the looks of it, the management was weak, and the kitchen staff even weaker. My waitress, poor thing, was managing half the restaurant while other Sr. looking waitresses were sitting around. When I looked at the kitchen, there were 3 cooks; one was drinking a soda, watching TV, and barking orders, the other was laughing and dancing, and the third, an older Sr. looking cook, was doing all the cooking. I finally saw the manger, who looked all but 15 years old, walked out to a table to personally deliver an order to a couple with his apologies. I knew this since I could see the smoke coming out of the gentleman's collar, and steam off his partner's head. Finally, my wings arrived. This was the only positive of the evening. I give Hooters kudos for the addition of smoked wings on the menu. Coming from Texas, nothing makes meats taste better than a great smoking. Hooters did well with these. Unfortunately, I asked for the spicy habanero, and instead got something else. You can imagine my frustration at this point. My waitress came by, and asked me how it was, I sighed and just asked for a to go container. Now... this is the best part. As if my "Horror Story at Hooters" couldn't get any worse, she said that it was policy not to provide to go containers for all you can eat orders. It took a lot for me to maintain my composure, being in customer service. I waited a second, took a deep breath, looked at my curly fries, and said, "My curtly fries were not part of the all you can eat order, please give me a container for my fries." I stared at her, she stared at me, and then she walked away. She returned and proceeded to give me the smallest container. I asked for the check, gave her a nice tip, shoved all my wings in that tiny container and left. read more

What a great place HOOTERS of Albany is. I visited this evening as my 15th HOOTERS restaurant where I was raising awareness for mental Illness. I wore a pink crop top as a metaphor for several issues related to mental illness. Sophia did a wonderful job announcing to the restaurant what I was doing and I was invited to address the restaurant explaining the relevance of my shirt. The clientele were also quite supportive. Maddie took awesome care of me. Everyone was so kind. Rick was awesome. Ate the Buffalo chicken tacos and chocolate cake (which is amazing). I love Hooters!! I luv Hooters!! That is the chant amongst the staff here. Hooters is now back open in the Albany area after closing its former location at Crossgates Mall a few years ago. It's like having a reunion with an old friend, weep.... This new Hooters opened a few weeks ago in the former Fuddruckers (Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon before that). Hooters is a great place to go out for drinks, bar food, chicken wings, and to check out sports shown on the many TVs here and for "other" reasons as well, *wink*!!! The place has been very busy since its grand opening and sometimes there is a line to get in the place. My buddy took his old man here a couple weeks ago and told me they had a real blast here and the Hooters Girls were very friendly. I decided to take my old man here for lunch since he has never stepped foot inside a Hooters. The place was busy, but we were able to get seated at a high top table with stools. The place looks great with a southern sports bar atmosphere with around 20 big screen TVs throughout the place, beer neon lights, classic Hooters pictures on the walls, booth seating, tables, high top tables, and seating at the bar (straw awning covered). There were plenty of Hooters Girls on staff and some of them were from other Hooters locations (in New England), saw several MA and NH tags in the parking lot. I miss going to the former Hooters locations (Salem, Nashua, & Manchvega$) with my buddies back in NH, all 3 NH Hooters locations were within a half hour from my home. We started out with 2 Diet Cokes ($2.79 each), which are served in big plastic cups. We ordered some appetizers to start off. The parmesan garlic chicken wings (10 for $8.99) here were still pretty good and tasty, but the wings have gotten smaller than from a few years back. The sides of bleu cheese and celery are extra charge ($1.49). The Fried Pickles ($4.99), which was highly recommended were an excellent choice which was lightly breaded dill pickle chips (salty and spiced taste) with a remoulade dipping sauce. These fried pickles I had were better the ones I had in South Charlotte, NC a year ago. The old man ordered the Grilled Chicken Garden Salad ($8.99) which was a big salad with a mix of crispy lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, croutons, and tender slices of grilled chicken, Ken's dressing packets on the side. I ordered the Grilled Grouper Cousin Sandwich ($8.49) served with a side (potato salad) and dill pickle spear. This big sandwich was spot on, a tender grilled grouper with a soft firm texture and crisp to perfection on the outside served on a big soft bun. This was one of the better fish sandwiches I've had in a long time (I enjoyed an awesome grilled mahi sandwich at similar type place named Longdoggers in Melbourne, FL). The small side of potato salad was very dense and the standard cold deli salad. The service was very friendly and attentive. We were given free refills on the Diet Cokes and checked up on often. I also asked for a photo op with our Hooters Girl which was happily obliged. Also, someone at the other table was celebrating their birthday, so the birthday guy was made to stand up on a table with a Hooters Girl and shake his hips with his arms up while the other Hooters Girls were clapping and chanting happy birthday around the table. After lunch, I checked out the merchandise counter near the front entrance offering Hooters apparel, shirts, and other souvenirs. I bought myself and the old man some very tactful Hooters of Albany, NY t-shirts ($16.95 plus tax each) to wear around the yard for our upcoming summer holiday BBQ. Overall, we had a great lunch at the "owl" with some good bonding time. Glad to see Hooters back open again in this area! I'm hopeful that Hooters will someday return to NH, sigh.... read more

I haven't been to a Hooters since 2006 when it was located in the Crossgates Mall. I haven't felt compelled to come to this location but my buddies and I needed a place to watch a very important football game. The dining area here is spacious and there are TV's everywhere. They took their sweet time turning on the sound but at the last possible moment they did. It appears the Hooters menu hasn't changed much over the years. After a quick glance and brief discussion my group ordered what I am guessing most people order.... beer and wings. Apparently the wings that made them famous aren't enough so they have begun to expand the options. We ended up ordering the original breaded medium, the Daytona style hot and the bacon wrapped. We also ordered loaded tots which contained cheese, scallions and sour cream. Most of the wings were horrible. The worst I have had in years. The breaded wings were soggy and they lacked sauce. The Daytona wings were undercooked and the sauce was very off putting. The bacon wrapped were tasty and had a decent sweet salty thing going but the interior of one of my wings was raw. No celery was included and the blue cheese was cheap. Kind of like the non refrigerated blue cheese dressing they sell in supermarkets. Cheap blue cheese and lots of mystery ingredients. The tots were fine. It would be pretty hard to screw those up. In terms of beer my party of three ordered 2 smalls, 1 tall and a pitcher of Sam Adams. Our bill came to 96 dollars. 36 dollars per person after tip. Huh? If people are coming here for the food and beer I can think of like 20 other places where your money would go much farther and the food would be infinitely better. I placed an order for delivery. I would never order from this places again. I ordered wings & nachos. These are some of the smallest wings I have ever seen of anywhere I have ever eaten. Upon arriving home I was very disappointed to find the wings thrown in a container, not completely cooked and some wings covered in sauce, some not. Aside from presentation I tried to eat 4 of the 20 and they were raw, not cooked and tasted absolutely disgusting. I do not plan to ever return, I have been a customer for over 30 years and I was sick all night in and out of the bathroom. It was a little late (10 pm which is late for Albany) and there was a trailer hooked to my truck [because of the move] so I chose delivery, thus my options were limited. I ordered naked wings in medium sauce with a side of curly fries. Estimated delivery time was 40-50 minutes, so I decided to cook & eat some broccoli to balance the relatively unhealthy meal I knew I was about to eat... Honestly, I should have just cooked steamed two heads of broccoli because whatever Hooters gave me was garbage. Reviewing chains is always a bit difficult. It's hard to judge the quality of the food since you know most of it is shipped to them and not some creative invention of the chefs in the back. However, this location of Hooters (and I've been to many) is A-OK. They are somewhat inconsistent in service and quality. I've been there and had their medium sauce be pretty mild and pretty spicy. I've had some wonderful service here and be completely forgotten about it another time. What I do love here is their friend pickles. I enjoy the boneless wings. My daughter loves the place. Some nights they have sports trivia, which can be fun. They can be super busy on popular sports nights (and that typically leads to not so great service). Don't let their reputation dissuade you from giving them a try if you never have. Sure, the staff is wearing short shorts and tight, low-cut tank tops, but I assure you it's nothing worse then you see people wearing at the mall or on TV anymore. read more

The hot sauce is not very spicy but has a great flavor to it and the 3 mile island is a bit much for me sometimes and just isn't as tasty. Order your wings with heavy sauce for maximum enjoyment. Today I ordered through GrubHub (my very first GrubHub order as a customer) and was pleasantly surprised when I found that you included the wet-naps I was annoyed the last time I ordered from you that you didn't include when I was ordering from UberEats. So, I was surprised. Food was also good. It was made to be medium well, but it might have been a little more well than I really wanted, but I liked it. Even though Hooters is famous for their waitresses, the food here is some of the best. The chicken wings are probably the best wings I've had. The breaded hot wings are a delicious item that takes your taste buds for a ride. They are crispy, big, and the chicken is juicy and tender. The sauce is flavorful and has just enough to spice to them. Also the buffalo shrimp are great. They are crispy, and crunchy. The shrimp is fresh and cooked perfectly and the sauce brings it all together. The one thing on the menu I suggest not getting is the fish and chips. The fish was overcooked and it had that "fishy" taste to it that is disgusting. The waitresses are always nice and fine to look at. Overall, Hooters has great wings and delicious shrimp. read more

This was my first experience visiting a Hooters anywhere. I went with a half dozen guys and gals who were also new to Hooters. I like ladies. I like ladies who seem to take care of themselves. I like ladies who might even dress in a provocative way sometimes. It just felt very trashy. The waitress kept touching me. I couldn't tell if she was playing dumb or she was just confused about everything I said, which made ordering things difficult and getting suggestions on what to order even more difficult. I felt weird about looking at the waitresses even though that's obviously the theme there. Some seemed far too young to even be able to drink alcohol. Some seemed like they had more makeup than face. It was weird seeing older couples there who actually seemed to be there for the wings. I'm not into wings, but maybe I need to be to like the place. It wasn't very good food. The drinks weren't cheap and the selection was limited. I would have preferred a strip club or a pub, not an awkward trashy hybrid that was not delicious in any sense of the term. Mostly, I like smart women and tasty food. They don't seem to be after the sapiosexual foodie crowd. At least the individual checks were separated properly. read more

My wife and I went on 2-6-19 after returning home to Albany airport from a cruise. Waitress (Kara) was great. Beer was cold. But man the wings ... The reason I mentioned the cruise was they served scrawny, cold wings ... among the worse I ever had. So I was looking forward to coming home and getting some great wings ... And at Hooters we were served the same: Scrawny and cold bone-in breaded wings. Used to be there was two great reasons to go to Hooters and one of these was humongous, hot wings ... better than anywhere else. A little overpriced, but worth it. Alright, I never been to hoots in my life. First timer here. I've read all the reviews on here before going to this place. I knew before coming wings would be small and over priced, how correct everyone was on that. We had 4 in our party, me and my buddy got there first, we sat at the bar. They only serve people sitting in chairs, no standing. The other 2 in our party showed up, no chairs available for them, so they stood next to us as we chatted and a fat manager guy comes up to us to tell them there is no standing around the bar, WTF seriously? The girls/ atmosphere: We finally got seated, our waitress seemed kinda clueless (maybe new to the restaurant biz) but she was nice. Most of the girls at the place had smoke'en hot bods, but they could tone down the darn make-up. Less is best. One girl had a snookie thing going. Shame. Plus, who would have figured the crowd would mostly be families with their young children, kinda weird when there are half naked girls running around. The food: We ordered wings and burgers/buffalo chicken sandwiches. We got 10 horribly small wings for $8.99 and was charged .80 extra for blu cheese and I am sure extra for celery and carrots? I didn't know there were species of chickens in our food chain that are bred to be that small. That or hooters must get a discount on deformed chicken wing batches from it's suppliers. Wings tasted alright but they were seriously small, 2 bites max and you finished one. We each got a sandwich/burger. 8.99 for each sandwich that comes with no fries. Food was alright, nothing special, but I would not go back. Place did not have a good sports bar feel. We left and went to wolf's across the street to finish watching the yankee game. Much better. I will not be going back to hooters anytime soon, I really do not think this place will last long. Place was kinda dead when we left on a Friday evening at 8:30 pm. A horrible experience from start to finish. We had a friend coming in from out of town who suggested brunch, but then decided to go apple picking at the last minute. Okay, so let's have dinner. The guys decide it has to be a place with TVs and suggest Wolf's 111, but I said it was too loud to have a conversation, so they suggest Hooters, where I had never been. I go online to check the menu and find that there is one thing on the menu that I can eat. Turns out that one thing wasn't available in Albany, so I wind up having a gross, overpriced grilled cheese sandwich. So I was already resentful that my food restrictions were not taken into account by the group. Turns out, Hooters isn't any easier to have a conversation in. In fact, it may actually be worse, what with the "wooo' jocks, arguing with the televised referees. There are televisions all over the place, so sitting across from people, you have no idea which of the four (!) games the others in your own party are watching. Every single female patron in the place looked miserable and they didn't even offer the distraction of wi-fi. Then, I got into bs drama with one friend, our out of town friend never showed up and, since I was too mad to ride with my friends, I walked to wait for a bus that, despite being parked, literally across the street for 15 minutes, was 10 minutes late. I know that's not Hooters' fault, but still - start to finish. The only thing I didn't have a problem with was the staff. I wasn't offended by the uniforms and didn't feel like the girls were being exploited. Our waitress was great, but in and of itself, great service isn't enough to overcome how gross the place is overall. read more
