The dragon ball appetizer was suggested to me by a friend and I'm happy I ordered it! Super yum. The dragon ball is filled with kani and something crunchy topped with avocado. TL;DR version: Really nice ambiance interior decor, unclear reservation policy, and really mediocre Chinese food. Called about making a reservation for Christmas Eve and was told they don't take reservations that night which is why it was a little off-putting when we walked in that night and were asked if we had reservations so we had to wait 20-30 minutes for a table - and there was clearly a table reserved for a large party right in the center of the dining area. But it's fine, they have a nice bar area with TVs for waiting. Onto our meal - also Dec 2023 menu photos attached: - Roti Canai (Malaysian pancake): Crispy and went well with the curry sauce but the pancake itself was way too oily. - Cold Sesame Noodles: Decent, the fried wontons included ended up being more like spinach and cheese rangoons which was interesting and a first time seeing something like this served with sesame noodles but not bad. - Steamed Pork Dumplings: Bland, the dumpling filling and also the dipping sauce. - Singapore Rice Noodles: Bland - "light curry sauce" was a little bit too light. Could've used more sauce. - Mama's Fried Rice (chinese sausage, onion, scallions & eggs): Decent, still a little bland for my tastes - a more sweet than savory fried rice because of the sweetness of chinese sausage - but serviceable. - Kung Pao Chicken: Got this because saw it mentioned so frequently and looked promising. Just ok, nicely glazed. Presentable, nice thin crispy strips but also felt like more fried breading than chicken itself. - Tangerine Beef: Served on a shao bing/chinese flatbread. Sweetness overload. I couldn't even eat this. It was sickeningly sweet. My advice is don't do what we did and get this AND kung pao chicken. Too much sweet fried meat. - Eel Cucumber $9 & Shrimp Avocado Roll $7: Not too expensive but just average quality. I kind of expected more from a place with a more upscale ambiance. I can't comment on the raw fish as I was pregnant at the time of my visit but my MIL did order the tri-color sushi combo and the color/texture of the fish also looked equally mediocre as my rolls. FYI, they are semi-gluten-free friendly. For cooked dishes, they can make SOME GF but our server was also telling us not to/we couldn't get certain things which sounded like they just didn't want to make the dish fresh for us with temari (aka it might be pre-made already) and they will give you temari packets of soy sauce if you order sushi. read more

I remember when the little kitchen first opened in Westport. There used to be a line out the door of people waiting to try their delicious food. However, over the years, it appears that the food has lost its taste. My husband and I ordered the shrimp fried rice, which was pretty bland; the sesame chicken which wasn't that flavorful was overly cooked and lastly, the bbq spare ribs didn't have any bbq sauce and tasted awful. We were next door at Fine Wines of Westport when we spotted the Little Kitchen and headed in. Wow. This was a great choice. The place was large with many seating options. The waiter was extremely nice and very established as he created many customers in a familiar way. The service was provided by that same waiter and we really enjoyed having him. The food was excellent. The Roti Cani and Szechuan Dumplings in spicy peanut sauce were both delicious. The sauce for both was spot on with flavor. We ordered general Tao's and (per recommendation) these noodles (I don't remember the name) that had a little spice and a lot of flavor! The general Tao's was cut thin and beautifully saucy. We were beyond pleased with our meal and our service. We will definitely be going back! read more

I think Little Kitchen has great food and I will continue to go back but I just want to give you all a heads up For the last 3 or 4, that I have ordered wonton soup. They have short changed me two or 3 wontons per wonton soup. I'm shocked at the bad reviews for this place. My son and I went to visit family in Westport last weekend and they took us to this restaurant. My son is 4 and had the vegetable lo-mein, which he loved and ate almost the whole portion of. I tried it and to be honest it was one of the best lo-meins I've ever tried and I live in NYC. I regretted not ordering a portion for myself! I myself got a spider roll and a rainbow roll, both of which were fresh and delicious. Their coconutini was SO GOOD too. A friend of mine who lives in Westport always raves about their food, so I decided to give her a gift certificate to the restaurant as a Christmas present. I'm out of state, so I did this on their website. It seems their third party vendor did not do the job of confirming it to me or of sending her an email with the details, so I called the restaurant and spoke to Dan who did confirm they received my payment for the gift certificate. He generously offered to send my friend an email himself, which he did, copying me. All went well as a result. I used to really enjoy Little Kitchen but my last visit was really off. I ordered chicken pad thai with extra veggies. The chicken was a piece of charred grilled chicken placed on top of the noodles instead of stir fried into the dish. It didn't seem to go together. I wasn't given extra veggies. I would've said something but our server never came back to check on us. When we were finished she asked if we wanted our food wrapped and then just brought the check. Never asked if we wanted another drink, coffee, dessert. We weren't ready to end our evening but since our server decided to close us out prematurely we went somewhere else for drinks and dessert. Unfortunately, they lost out on a larger check and ultimately return business because I don't plan on coming back. Here's the thing, paying a higher price for Chinese food is unpopular and some say unfair, but like any food, if it's delicious and you know it, wouldnt you pay a bit more for it? I know this is CT and it seems like there is a "resort fee" on every food bill, but LK is doing classic NY Chinese food very very well. Do not sleep on Their hot and sour soup, it rivals the best of the best. Chinese dishes are better than Japanese even though fish is very fresh with nice portions, they just aren't paying attention to the rice which some argue is more important than the fish. Highlights include Sesame beef or chicken. Beef or chicken and broccoli, a lovely and cozy tofu and mushrooms in clay pot and proper wok hei in lo mein. Duck was small, pricey, and dry but loved putting it all together in mushu pancakes. Standard but delicious pan fry dumplings. Nice decor, but please figure out how to get the sticky off the tables. I remember going to The Little Kitchen many years ago with my mom and recently decided to return with my dad and aunt for lunch. Our waiter was very nice and patient as we took time deciding on what we wanted. Loved the dumplings and the hot and sour soup. My sesame chicken, on the other hand, was not great. The pieces were really thin and barely had any meat on them. It didn't taste all that good either. The other chicken dish was apparently good (according to my aunt)! I moved to Westport 38 years ago, and for some reason, never ate at The Little Kitchen. That changed yesterday, as my husband and I were in the shopping center and decided to try it. (Are we glad we did, and sorry we never did before!) We ordered General Tso's Chicken and a Shrimp with Spinach dish. They were both delicious, the portions were huge, and we had enough left over for dinner tonight. General Tso's Chicken is one of my faves, and I've had it in many restaurants. We have been consistently impressed with the food here, and I crave it on a weekly basis, at least. I am vegan and they have done a great job accommodating my dietary restrictions. The food is consistent. My favorites are the mapo tofu, the garlic, string beans, and the mixed vegetables in white sauce. But the sushi rolls and tofu hot pot also blow my mind. The team was amazing, prompt, provided utensils and the food was varied (we had vegetarian, gluten free, etc. dietary restrictions). Would recommend, we love coming here in person too. Honestly I'm very disappointed! the table was super sticky, I couldn't even clean it with wipes, I had to put my napkins on the table because it was super sticky. I asked for water for my son and they brought a container pierced with a straw! Furthermore, the container was broken and it wet the entire table! CELIACS AND GLUTEN SENSITIVE- BEWARE ! Little Kitchen claims they can make their dishes gluten free; ok. Got a fried rice to go, and it was good, no problems. One week later we placed a $65 order for pickup; Ordered bali shrimp and House spicy, both gluten free. When I got them home, BOTH dishes were breaded (!) We called, they sent someone out promptly with the "correct" dishes. They arrive, and were just sauceless, tasteless sauteed shrimp and vegetables. Not cooked in gluten free soy sauce, or ANY sauce! We call, and the guy gets on the phone and rudely claims "we got what we ordered". Then, they sent the driver back AGAIN to collect all 4 incorrect dishes for a credit! Pathetic. Had to call Rainbow Thai and get two proper dishes. Moral of the story- if you have gluten issues DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! Even if you can eat normally, look at the reviews before you waste your money and time read more
