Poke Noodle bowl, topped with lotus chips with Mandarin orange drink
Ken H.

Opening day! Got poke my way regular size - kale noodle bowl, scallops/ahi tuna, lots of fixings and crisp lotus roots to top it off for $10.95. Was VERY tasty and definitely didn't feel like I loaded up on a heavy lunch yet I wasn't hungry afterwards. If you're doing poke your way, I'd recommend looking at the menu at pokeworks.com first, then you don't hold up the line when it gets busy - and it will since many of you have been waiting for this place to open like forever. There's 6 steps to complete your bowl. I breezed through on their first day but it was after 3 PM. Otherwise, maybe order their signature works which is like 8 different predetermined poke bowls, until you're more familiar with their menu. If you don't want any raw fish, they've got albacore tuna, shrimp, tofu and chicken. I think the bay scallops are cooked too, but the ahi tuna and salmon are raw. If you've got some food allergies, the signature works bowls show all ingredients such as soy and gluten so you can choose the appropriate bowl or just do it your way. As with other poke chains, toppings like avocado are extra, but you can load up on all other free mix-ins, toppings and crunch if you want some added value and a few more bites, they'd probably not get upset if you asked for a bit more of this or that. If you're not careful and add extra protein for a large size bowl and pay for some toppings, you could be nearing sushi/sashimi deluxe pricing at a typical Japanese restaurant. But that's your choice and what you're in the mood for when you get in here. Important tips - if you're shorter than the sneeze guard when you're ordering, speak UP or you'd have to repeat what you just asked for. The acoustics and ambient noise can make it difficult for them to hear you, or for you to hear them! Also, when you get to the flavors - that's their sauces that are mixed into your bowl - they'll ask if you want light, medium or heavy portions of the sauce you pick that's suitable for your taste. After you pay and find that you want a bit more flavor, you can add more sesame oil, soy and siracha sauces yourself. So, Yelpers in Westport - your own poke place is finally here. It ain't Hawaii, but it's as close as you can get for these parts of Connecticut. So get in here in high volume to constantly move the fresh ingredients in and out.

Limited options in the area and my co-worker picked this place. These poke places are popping up all over the country: some are great, some are decent and some will close within a short period of time. Similar to the cupcake craze from a few years back: everyone loves the concept, simple menu and fresh product. Like cupcakes, how many can you honestly eat in a week or every week, etc? So enter the poke place: fresh(?) fish, build your own (Chipotle line) and quick relatively healthy lunch. Food: Tuna was decent, but the spicy salmon did not taste fresh. I had the burrito, but the slice of nori is not well suited to properly make a burrito and the "Auto" rice dispenser didnt really properly apply the rice or the guy doing it is new to it. Even though I had minimal ingredients, the nori didn't fully wrap around. The taste was "ok", except for the salmon: there is no way it was fresh or the spicy marinade was off. I do not recommend getting it. Service: Pleasant with a smile and walk through the ingredients. There was more staff on hand than diners during lunch time: not a good sign. Overall: Its not the worst, but overall its just not very good. Prices are competitive, but the poke bowl place by my house back in IL, is more expensive (+$3/$4 per bowl), but has more fish, fresh and tastes better; as well as offer free miso soup with bowl. I will not be coming back here, but maybe over time this place can improve.

Hawaiian Kitchen, based in Bethpage, absolutely knocked it out of the park! From the start, they were incredibly easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I had originally requested 2-liter bottles of soda, but since they didn't have them in stock, they proactively delivered individual cans instead to ensure our team had plenty of drinks. Now, for the food--it was phenomenal. Our office hasn't stopped raving about it! The Coconut Shrimp and Grilled Shrimp were huge hits, and the Angus Steak was incredibly tender. Even the Chicken Fried Rice was a standout, and all of their signature sauces were delicious. They also did a large house salad for us with the most incredible Ginger dressing. I had numerous people ask me where I found them, and I couldn't wait to order for their next small house parties or to pick up dinner on the way home. It was all so fresh and not greasy. We also ordered spring rolls that were so light and crispy, pineapple fried rice that was really delicious, and marinated chicken and steamed broccoli. If you're looking for reliable catering that people will actually get excited about, I can't recommend Hawaiian Kitchen enough. THANK YOU for making me look like a superstar! We will definitely be ordering again! PS - they are a small, family-owned business, and I love supporting businesses like that that really care. Give them a try!

They have many menu options ranging from preset poke bowls, to make your own, combo meals, and mini meals. Drinks are about $2.50 a piece, and a wide variety of Hawaiian Sun, casual soda. I was tempted to get the mini meal since I don't eat a lot, but I ultimately caved and decided to get the combo meal since I wanted to try the Kailua pork too. The verdict? The Kailua pork was a little too salty for me, it comes mixed with like cabbage or lettuce, and overall very mushy which I didn't mind. However the Chicken Katsu came with a bbq type sauce and everyone thought the sauce was delicious. My fiance ordered the bbq mix which included the bbq chicken, beef, and short ribs and I thought the beef was so yummy. The portion size was big. All the combos come with either 1-2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. My meal was pretty perfect for 2 whole meals for me. I ate the katsu with my leftover rice for breakfast the next morning! The food comes in takeout containers which makes it very easy for you to take to go if you don't finish. I might have to come back and try the poke next time...

I went there for dinner on a weekday at around 6:30 and by 8pm it was starting to get busy. The food quantity is huge - I had enough to take home and have for two more meals. I ordered the half ribs and half beef - my only con is that it's very sweet, I needed some spice so when I went home I added jalapenos and heated it. They do have siracha tho if you'd like that.

The menu had mostly Hawaiian options to choose from. The pricing was very reasonable as well. I had the customizable poke bowl ($15.95). There was a number of different options to choose from with different proteins, toppings, sauces, etc. I had a base of brown rice with avocado, cucumber, sweet corn, edamame, mango, ahi tuna, spicy mayo, ginger, wasabi, jalapeno, green onion, and cilantro. This was nicely done. Everything appeared fresh and it was a good size portion. I would have just liked to seen a little more ahi tuna present, but besides that, very pleasant and filling. I also had the spam musubi ($2.95) and a side of macaroni salad ($3.95). The musubi was okay. It was a little dry. There needed to be more sauce present. The macaroni salad was a heaping portion, and it was tasty. There looked like a lot of mayonnaise present, but it was not too overpowerful as some type of sugar seemed to be incorporated to balance it out. Regardless of what it was, the salad was flavorful. Will I go back? I would.

They tend to overcook the burger sometimes. They have saimin which is cool. Hardly any places have it out here. They dont have laulau or Portuguese sausage, but i havent found any places in jersey that serve that. Which is really sad, since i miss that the most. DONT GET THE POKÉ BOWL! They say 3 scoops, but the scoops are tiny. Each scoop had 4 pieces of fish. Thats fuxking ridiculous! All the other places I've been to use the big ice cream scoops. The poké bowl is a rip off. Just go somewhere else that will actually give you more than 4 pieces of fish per scoop. Would give 3 stars, but 2 stars because of the poké bowl. People are nice and service was good. Ps. Stop putting raw onions in your Mac salad. No good

The smallest size is the 10 wings and it comes with 2 sauces. We picked Malaysian Curry dry rub (my favorite!) and the Saigon street. I like how they have unique wing flavors to pick from that is Asian inspired. The peanut butter one sounds intriguing - will have to come back and order more! I had the 2 flavor wing combo (too much food for one) what was I thinking? Haha I chose the Thai Chilli wings and the Parmesan wings. Both combos came with fries. The food came out hot and fresh. The sauce on the Thai wings was a little skimpy. I would say the flavor on both wings were ok, more salty to me than anything. Usually the sauce on these style wings is very robust. Overall the chicken itself was good. The fries were also good and had a slight crunch. For the dipping I chose honey mustard and siracha mayo. Not like any honey mustard I've tasted, it was bland. The siracha mayo had good spice. I tried a small piece of my daughter's sandwich, I enjoyed the breading, had good flavor and chicken was juicy. She really liked it. The Thai tea was ok. The place looked like it needed a good wipe down and they had a B on the door. I usually would never eat somewhere with a B, but it was a long day. The service was standard. I wouldn't tell people not to try, but for the price I paid, I believe there are better chicken places with these style wings. Ex. mad for chicken
