Friendly service and always hot fresh food!! My grandchildren love the train. Always busy but move people in and out quickly.

I've heard about the Lemon Drop since moving to Indiana 10 years ago. I've never been until last weekend and I'm pretty upset about it! Definitely should have visited long before Covid made its appearance! Absolutely adorable place, our server was wonderful, onionburger was delicious! The fries and onion rings were hot and not greasy!! This is the first restaurant we have "dined in" since Covid began and I can say I was not disappointed in our choice to do so.. Despite how tiny the place is, I felt perfectly comfortable eating there as their precautions are numerous. I don't think the Lemon Drop needs any help from me gaining patrons, but I will say, if you haven't been, GO!! read more

One of our favorite places to eat!!! Food is amazing and staff is great. My only downside is it is so hard to get in When you do such a good job though you are in high demand!! read more

I made a visit to the oldest diner in Anderson while on my way to the Mounds State Park. It is compact and finding parking around lunch time was challenging. I finally found a space and walked into this compact dining room. Although the sign calls the place a "drive in", there is no outdoor attendance like Gene's Root Beer down the street. This is a dine in or call ahead place with an open kitchen and a limited amount of seating. There is counter seating around the kitchen and then booths on the north end. Customers were standing while waiting for their orders and for spaces to open up. The service was quite friendly and did a great job keeping up with the customer demand. Since each order is customized, I watched as the cooks rotated around the small grill and work area pulling the items together. While I waited, I noticed the small toy train run on an elevated track above the kitchen and customers. There is also a photo collage of famous people who have dined there, including Colts players from when the training camp used to be in town. Since it was so busy, I decided to ask for my order to go. I got a single "Onion Burger" and fries. The onion burger comes with the onions grilled along with the burger which is quite tasty. I also was able to add a variety of common toppings to my order as well. The fries were more of the matchstick variety and arrive unsalted. Fortunately, there were plenty of napkins, and packets of salt and ketchup in my bag. Nothing fancy, but a good tasting burger. Review #1165 read more

A classic. It hasn't changed in the 30 years I've lived then visited Anderson. The train still runs along the top, the waitresses are friendly and the meal was a nice greasy classic hamburger that isn't dry at all. I took my fiancé there with his brother for the first time so naturally we got shirts! read more

Service was terrific. The food was also very good. My Go to place for a good burger, much better than McDonald's or Wendy's. & cheaper too

Great food. It has been there since before I was a child. You wont be sorry. Just about everything on the menu is so good!

So delicious! Probably my favorite place to get a burger. Everything is made fresh to order & affordable! Also this place is just adorable read more

Ok I have to update this to 5 stars. For as many 5 star ratings I have handed out, I can't let someplace I have been to dozens of times carry on like this. Forgive me Lemon Drop for I have sinned. As penance I will take a double onion burger with mayo and extra pickles and a side of fries... Terrific food, always fresh and hot, great service, old school diner vibe, reasonable prices. There is everything to like about this place when it comes to diner fare. An Anderson institution. read more

This is a 1950s diner. Limited seating, but always fast service. I have been eating there ever since they opened in 1954. Waitstaff takes your order, but doesn't write it down on a pad. Food is good and the best fries we have eaten anywhere. read more

Got a breaded tenderloin and fries today that were great. And reasonably priced as always.

We stopped by the Lemon Drop on our way through Anderson. From the outside it looks like a cute small diner. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself was very clean. The waitresses are some of the nicest people I have met on our travels. They were friendly, super helpful, and provided excellent customer service. The food was very good. My family ordered burgers and fries. I ordered the hamburger steak with onions inside. It was delicious and the shoestring fries were cooked perfectly. Our family gave it high marks! The Lemon Drop is well worth a visit! read more

Great history, super small and can be extremely hard to get a table. The food is of decent quality but nothing special. The wait staff is always super kind. read more

Great service and super fast. The burgers were fresh to order and very flavorful. We split an order of the fries and onion rings. I couldn't decide which was my favorite. Will definitely make a road trip here again! read more

It's ok, the folks are nice nothing there that makes me want to stop when I drive by. They need something new to attract other customers? Fresh churros? Something really great, Vienna beef hotdogs? BBQ? Something. read more

Good food. Great service! Be sure to get the double. Don't go to sit at a busy time, small eating area.

Better than Steak N Shake, second to Culver's and much like your typical local "greasyspoon". Their burgers have good flavor (original is on toast) and the fries are good - they kind of remind me of McDonald's, only MUCH better. As a Hoosier that knows and loves a good breaded tenderloin, I was not impressed with theirs. The facility appears clean (except the train/track) but is much smaller inside than anticipated. Maximum capacity is probably between 20-25. The lady behind the counter was more concerned with her regulars than me, which, was a major disappointment. We carry-out from here once every month or two. It's definitely inexpensive and is decent quality/taste, for the price. read more

Definitely a hidden gem in Anderson. Nostalgic and a great reminder of better times in this GM ghost town . Tasty food, friendly service and a pleasant memory filled environment . Don't miss this experience ! read more

Love the burgers. You must try the onion burgers and lemon shakes. The food is also fresh because they are making it then and there. The girls always seem to be very nice but also in a rush. My issue I have with this place is that it's a well-known staple in Madison county but yet the seating is very dismal. There are maybe 4 booths and just rail seating. I understand that this is the OG place and that there is so much history but, it's inconvenient when you want to come and get a bite, especially like me that is out of town. I usually always have to get my food to go because of the lack of seating. Here's for hoping for at least outside seating in the future. read more

Very good food and The owner, Bill Pitts serves the best quality food. Love the atmosphere with the train going around the room.

A teensy tiny diner that will take you back to the 50s. It probably doesn't seat any more than 25 people in total. Tasty, typical diner food. We had the breaded tenderloin, hamburger, and onion rings. read more

What a great place to grab one of their famous onion burgers! If it's not broken then don't fix it! Classic! A must visit if in the area! The grease flowing out of the back vent into a bucket only adds more charm to the whole experience. read more

Great food and service! It's been a while since I've eaten there but it deserves all the 10-ratings it gets!

I happened to run across this place by a random "50 best burgers in America" story. Surprisingly, I was headed to Indiana that day to pick up some car parts north of Indianapolis and The Lemon Drop was only 25 minutes out of the way. So I knew I had to drive over there. We arrived at 8:30 pm, they close at 9:00. We went in and sat at the counter on the stools. It is feels like stepping back in time here. The sign outside, the building exterior. The interior, the worn counter and original 50's vibe is awesome. I would eat bad food in a place like this. But you do not have to worry about bad food here. My son was with me and we both ordered the double onion burger, fries and 1 order of onion rings to split. I also got a lemon shake to share. The Lemon shake was awesome, it was so tart and sweet, definitely a mouth pucker for sure. The onion rings were great, perfect crisp to the batter and golden brown. The fries are generous and cooked perfectly and come out fresh and hot. Their counter ketchup is nice and thick also, and not some watered down stuff you get at a lot of places. The Onion burgers were phenomenal!! The way they have the onions inside the meat is a great design. They make the onions nice and blanched. Of course I had raw onions, tomato, pickles, lettuce and Mayo on my burger also. We both had ours on toast and it had a very light hint of rye to it, which complimented the burger even more. You can get the burger on a bun, but that is not how the burger came originally, so we went with toast. The burger was very hot also, I mean, it needed to cool a little first, which is rare these days. It felt like a meal your grandma would make for you on a lazy afternoon, it is that good. The owner was there, he has owned it since 1972. He was very nice and spoke with us for a bit. All the ladies that run the show are very friendly and gave us great service. I even got two t-shirts for the wife and I, and they were only $11 a shirt, which goes along with their low food prices. You can literally spend more money at Arby's or other fast food than here. It is really just a great place that I wish was 3 minutes from my house instead of 3.5 hours. But, I can see some road trip coming up and trekking over with the whole family. So do yourself a favor and drive out of the way to The Lemon Drop. You will be glad you did. read more

What a terrific surprise! We stumbled upon this cute little vintage restaurant - and it did not disappoint! We had the onion burgers with fries and onion rings - we split a medium milkshake and a small chili. Everything was fresh and piping hot. So much like how we remembered hamburgers and fries as children. We will definitely come back! I also had a cherry phosphate. Everyone was so friendly, too! read more

Classic Indiana burger joint. This place is a holdover from the auto industry heyday. Formerly a blue collar diner, now it is a nostalgia-laden classic. It is a colorful (yellow, of course) cinderblock building with a great sign outside. It is surprisingly small inside, but very authentic. The stars here are the burgers. They are thin and prepared as burgers were 50 years ago (so I've been told! I'm not that old). I highly recommend the cheeseburger on toast (which is exactly what it sounds like) or the onion burger. The cokes have the good kind of small, slush-like ice. The waitresses are super nice so tip them well. The only thing you have to be careful of is that it might be closed around major holidays! read more

The Lemon Drop - Decorated for Halloween - Burgers Near Me - Anderson, Indiana

The lemon drop is great. It has that old school diner feel to it. They even have a cute train that goes around the room. The food is what you would expect at a diner. They have burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, fries, onion rings, etc. The onion rings are big and delicious. I also really enjoy their chicken fingers. The only thing that would make this place better is if they somehow added additional space. I get the building is a landmark Anderson thing, but it is hard to eat there a lot of the time because it is always packed. read more

The Lemon Drop - Burgers Near Me - Anderson, Indiana

It's an out-of-the-way greasy spoon burger joint that is steeped in Anderson history. I've been going here since I was a little kid, and I still love it. Very tiny, very tasty, and very yellow. Burgers are smallish & flat and are served on buttery toast unless you order a bun. I usually order the double cheeseburger, or I sometimes get the grilled tenderloin. Lemon Drop is probably most famous for their onion burger. Onion rings, fries, malts, flavored cokes, ultra chewy ice, and even their salads are all good too. Service staff is fast, attentive, & friendly. read more

Great local diner with nostalgic appeal. I love bringing my son here for a burger and a chat

My son and I stopped in for lunch on our way back to Muncie, I've passed by several times and was never able to stop so we finally decided to and so glad we did! The spot is very small only a few booths and seating at the bar but we came around 3 so it wasn't too busy. When we ordered we asked the waitress what the best 3 sandwichs were and she told us the onion burger, the toasted cheeseburger, and the tenderloin so we ordered all 3 and an order of fries. The service was friendly and fast. When we received our food the kitchen had cut the sandwiches in half for us and put one of each on both of our plates! All of them were great but the onion burger was both my son and I's favorite! We will definitely be back the next time we are in Anderson together. read more

Amazing amazing amazing. I cannot say that enough. The food was excellent and so was the staff.

Step back in time!!! Small hamburger joint that was packed and we know why...it was delicious and personable. We sat at the bar and watched them make our burgers and visited with other patrons just like we were regulars. It was great! Food, service, and people! Recommend the burger on a bun and the patty melt on toast, fries, onion rings, and definitely the chocolate shake. Yummy! Don't miss this gem! read more

Good food and a small establishment! Good old fashioned vibes! It was my first time eating here and I recommend trying it!

Historic restaurant, noted for the people who have been there maybe more than the food, however don't go at lunch, unless your prepared to wait, outside, extremely limited seating, but a good place to eat and say you been there an dine it! read more
