Extremely disappointing experience -- serious concerns about child supervision and communication
I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this daycare. As a parent, the most basic expectation I have is that my toddler will be properly supervised and that I will be immediately informed if my child is injured while in the daycare's care. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
While playing on the daycare playground, my toddler had an accident and suffered a cut to his lip. The injury was significant enough that there was a visible mark, and two days later, his lip still has a mark from the accident.
What was even more concerning than the accident itself was how the situation was handled.
No one from the daycare called me to inform me that my child had been injured. I only learned about the incident when I arrived to pick up my toddler. As a parent, I find this completely unacceptable. If my child is injured while under someone else's supervision, I should not have to find out about it at pickup.
I immediately brought my concerns to the director. Unfortunately, the response was extremely disappointing. Instead of apologizing or showing concern for my child's injury, I was told that teachers normally send an incident report and that, because they did not inform us, the daycare was "not at fault."
That response was especially upsetting. Regardless of whether the daycare considers an accident their fault, the issue is that my child was injured while in their care and I was not notified when it happened. A parent should receive prompt communication about an injury involving their child. At the very least, I expected an apology and genuine concern for my toddler.
The lack of communication, the apparent lack of accountability, and the response from management completely destroyed my confidence in leaving my child in their care.
Because of this experience, I immediately discontinued services with the daycare and requested a refund. I did not feel comfortable continuing to leave my toddler there after what happened and how the situation was handled.
Accidents involving children can happen. I understand that. What matters is how a daycare responds when an accident occurs: proper supervision, immediate communication with parents, transparency, and genuine concern for the child. In our experience, those expectations were not met.
I would strongly encourage parents considering this daycare to ask very specific questions about playground supervision, teacher-to-child supervision, and the daycare's procedures for immediately notifying parents about injuries.
For us, the lack of notification and the response from management were serious enough that we decided we could no longer trust the daycare with our child. read more
