They're really organized and have very secure processes for checking kids in and out, they secure the entrance and exit, they are very strict about dietary needs (e.g., they don't allow any peanuts/peanut butter to be packed for any kids regardless of allergies on the off chance that a child with an allergy would take another child's food) and they have really thorough daily reporting. My daughter has a big smile every time she sees her care provider, and my toddler son loves his teachers. He always talks about the activities they do, gets excited about snacks, specific toys and friends. The care providers are thoughtful and strike a great balance between being gentle and patient while establishing boundaries for my son, who can sometimes throw tantrums. This isn't the perfect gauge of attention, but my kids never have a diaper rash, which tells me they're attentive and that they never sit in a dirty diaper for long. Also, they're tuned into my kids and have called me when their behavior/demeanor has been off or when they're sick and need to be picked up. I'd recommend this place and I go there now because we have a close friend whose son goes there and who recommended it to us.

This personally resulted in 2 medical incidents for my child at Everbrook within 48 hours of each other, the second requiring a stay at the ER. The response from the admin, Angalissa, was that it was not her fault and the other caretaker in the room was picking his nails not helping. The director, Marla stopped talking to us once she realized they could be held liable. This was in the infant room. While there are perhaps a handful of staff that try and are kind, they have such a high turnover of staff, people will not know your child, they will not provide consistency or structure, they will not thrive and for our child, he almost didn't survive. Everbrook has taken no accountability. They are under current investigation by Denver HHS and the state licensing board. Have previously been on probation. And the video system is a "guise" of safety. It conveniently purges in 48 hours, so if your child gets hurt, they will have no record of it so they can't be held liable. Run away. Do not walk.

I don't trust the current leadership, the high tuition rate that they keep raising, the consistent billing issues, the lack of support for the teachers and any students that aren't following "marching orders". They don't want to be bothered with handling kids who need more care or support.

The kids spend a large portion of the day outside, in this beautiful fenced-in property in a safe and vibrant neighborhood. It is tranquil and calm both inside and outside Sunflower Hill. My son enjoys daily circle time, songs and books, and crafts (they even bake bread and plant flowers with the kids). "Squirrel Nutkin" comes alive from the book they read, and munches on sunflower seeds outside the center. We have attended a few of Sunflower Hill's festivals, which are a great opportunity to meet parents and watch your kids thrive together. The lantern festival was a time to pause and reflect on the darkening of the seasons, and how the light is inside each of us. The kids each made a lantern and we walked around outside singing songs. It truly is as magical as it sounds. Kathy and her staff have a holistic approach to childcare, which isn't what all families are looking for. The "curriculum" is not structured or rigid, like many schools are. Each family should choose what works best for their child, and Waldorf isn't a good fit for everyone. Kathy provides flexibility in choosing days of the week, and the opportunity to re-arrange your days if needed. We looked at several child care centers in Denver, and Sunflower Hill has very reasonable pricing. They are open long hours, and it is a very convenient pick for working parents. Also, the center is housed on a sleepy neighborhood street without traffic, so you don't have to fight to find a parking spot. Pickup and dropoff are always easy. When we started at Sunflower Hill, Kathy would send us photos of our son and encouraging notes about how he was acclimating to the group. Kathy always texts me if our son is hurt (a self-inflicted scratch while playing with sticks, and a toy sharing incident that turned into hitting), and sends us photos of him with an update. I am so impressed by this attention to my child's safety, and trust Kathy immensely. Kathy has asked for feedback from parents in several of her weekly emails, and shows genuine humility and a desire to continue changing and adapting as needed. Though I don't pretend to know half as much about raising young children as Kathy, I wouldn't hesitate to speak to her if I had any concerns. The staff are fantastic, our son especially loves Warren who sings cowboy songs to him and is so attentive to his language development. We are overjoyed that our son is blossoming here. He comes home from school each day chatting about his friends, and has started pretend play at just over 2 years old, which speaks to how healthy and supportive this center is for his imagination.
