It's clear they pay close attention to our daughter -- they notice the little things, celebrate her milestones, and care for her as if she were their own. We feel like part of a real community rather than just a drop-off and pick-up. We've been blown away by the level of care, communication, and joy that fills this school every day. We really wanted to be at Goddard for the long term, that's what made our experience most…read moredisappointing. We had made the switch from another school for our daughter after receiving subpar care. We were excited to hear that Goddard had tenured teachers and a positive environment. This changed three months in when our daughter's teacher left and a replacement was not immediately found. Within that month, our daughter had a concussion under odd circumstances and we were encouraged to sign a document testifying to the circumstances that we now regret. Let alone she had the concussion in the morning and were not told about it until we picked her up. We were told that our medical expenses would be taken care of and that the owner wanted to speak with us. The latter never happened and the former was referred to the insurer. The fact that I sit here six months later and only now have been made whole should speak to how taken care of we felt. The issues did not end when the teaching position was filled. We were confounded to hear that my daughter was being put in time out (something we were told did not happen and something we do not agree with). When we asked why, we were told she was copying other kids and getting close to an external door. When we were asked by the teacher for an alternative to timeout, the teacher seemed offended that we actually had an idea of what they could do differently. This didn't end that form of punishment as our daughter was put in a corner for having a cold less than a month later. Our child's teacher was often late and were left to guess where to drop our child off. When she was there in the morning she often smelled like cigarettes. People's personal choices are their own, but don't take them into my three year old's school life. We were unsure what my daughter actually was learning. Goddard sends you a weekly curriculum that is supposed to be followed by teachers to a T. When we were asked to bring in objects for that week's lesson our teacher seemed confused and unsure of what to do with them. That made us quite concerned that our daughter's time was being wasted. In the cutthroat world of Denver childcare, I understand why some folks will continue to send their children to Goddard Park Hill, but I hope this final anecdote will make you think twice. Our daughter's demeanor and behavior has improved drastically at home since leaving Goddard. We will never look back and regret our decision to move her out of that school.

And shouldn't they - they've been helping to raise our children and prepare them for everything that comes next. The front office staff has always listened to any concerns we've had (our son has special learning needs) and we've been very grateful they've helped us work through a few things - making us feel like they're truly invested in his success and development. Leaving your newborn baby somewhere because you have to go to work is hard. Like, really hard. Especially if you're like me, and your brain is constantly thinking up horrific scenarios of "what-ifs". Explore & Discover made us feel comfortable, safe, and like family the whole way through, and made that transition so much easier. Before attending I did my research on all of our child care options, because I understood the gravity of leaving my incredibly tiny, vulnerable baby with a stranger, and wanted to be sure I was making the very best choice for us. I went through years of all of our daycare option's state audits and incident reports. I also weighed location, and the fact that E&D was a co-op. In the end, Explore & Discover was the clear choice. They had a massive wait list (get on early!), but because I only needed two days a week I was lucky enough to be called up to the plate, and I am so glad that I was. My daughter's teacher has not only taken amazing care of her throughout her time with E&D, she has also been my best resource for how to be a parent. I was one of the first of my friends to have a baby and the parent figures in our life were offering very outdated advice, but our baby's teacher taught me how to get her on a nap schedule, how to feed her solid foods, and gave ideas of activities that would stimulate her. She was an unending source of patience and knowledge, and really began to feel like an extension of our family. Because the center is parent-run, the parents are much more involved than I imagine they would be elsewhere, which creates this amazing community of people who genuinely care about their children. There are mom's and dad's nights out, group meet-ups, every-other-month parent meetings, and monthly newsletters created off of contributions of the parents. Having access to this community means that there is always someone there to help you if needed. They cheer each other on when there is a life event, they donate and contribute if a fundraising event is planned, and they rally whenever anything is required for the good of the community or the center. It is something so unique to E&D, and something we felt so lucky to be a part of. We were there before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, and because of E&D's attention to CDC guidelines there was not a single positive case within the community. I already mentioned this, but E&D was definitely the best child care decision that we made. Leaving my child at daycare was something I dreaded in the beginning, and grew to be something I (and she) looked forward to. She squeals when we get into the parking lot! I am genuinely disappointed to be leaving this community, but want to be sure to share what an absolutely amazing experience we had here in the hopes that someone like me, a new mother trying to make the best decision for her new baby, will read this and know she found the right place.

This personally resulted in 2 medical incidents for my child at Everbrook within 48 hours of each other, the second requiring a stay at the ER. The response from the admin, Angalissa, was that it was not her fault and the other caretaker in the room was picking his nails not helping. The director, Marla stopped talking to us once she realized they could be held liable. This was in the infant room. While there are perhaps a handful of staff that try and are kind, they have such a high turnover of staff, people will not know your child, they will not provide consistency or structure, they will not thrive and for our child, he almost didn't survive. Everbrook has taken no accountability. They are under current investigation by Denver HHS and the state licensing board. Have previously been on probation. And the video system is a "guise" of safety. It conveniently purges in 48 hours, so if your child gets hurt, they will have no record of it so they can't be held liable. Run away. Do not walk.
