    Newly refurbished lamp
    Kate Y.

Guys, this shop is run by an artist. I brought in a grimy silver thing that I was scared to plug in that didn't have a globe at all. I was told it was my great grandmother's, so wanted to see what could be done. It turns our it was a beautiful brass piece that could be totally refurbished into this work of art! I would recommend this shop to anyone 100%.

Plenty of lamp shades to choose from!

After many years of having used standing lamps, I finally had occasion to encounter a smaller table lamp that needed a new lamp shade. However, unlike the lamps of old that used metal frames or clips to attach the shades to the light bulbs, many of the newer versions have rings in the center that rest on the area that the light bulb screws into. The problem is, the rings don't always match the size of the section the bulbs fit into. The problem? After calls to a couple Home Depots and Lowe's, no one would stay on the phone long enough to even address the question. Once we called The Lamp Shop however, they not only told us they had the parts needed, but also took time to explain the terminology behind it and what to ask for. Once we arrived at the shop (with lamp and new lamp shade in hand) the folks at the store were super nice and patient while they figured out the best way to get the new lamp shade working. Eventually they did, bringing new life to an old lamp! The Lamp Shop has a huge variety of lamps, lamp shades, chandeliers, sconces and filials. I also enjoyed the "mom and pop" nature of the store. If I need these lamps worked on in the future I'll definitely stop by again.

We brought our vintage gas chandelier in for rewiring. None of the several staff in the store were able to help us at all without the owner present, which seemed a bit odd. They promised we'd receive a call back within 2 days. We didn't and had to call several times to speak with him. He instructed me to come in and speak (now the 2nd hour long drive to the store), only to simply repeat everything that had been written down the first time by the staff. The owner seemed knowledgeable. We had a back and forth regarding the decision points. We then agreed to the details. After a lengthy wait, we were told the lamp was ready. Unfortunately, the specifics we agreed to were not done. Instead, the owner decided to go with the approach he initially offered before we agreed to what I wanted. I guess the customer doesn't know best. I also attribute this problem to his not writing down the specifics of what I wanted. The owner wasn't there when we picked the lamp up. The staff understood the problem that had occurred and did discount the cost given what had been agreed to, Regardless, we were still disappointed. I could have gotten the parts for $50, rather than give them the $150 they wanted. Suggestions: - Call ahead to find out when the owner will be there - Force him to write down the specifics of what you want done - Consider other lamp shops

Super nice and competent with reasonable prices. The only place you should go to get your lamps fixed.

Stay as far away as possible. Can't figure out how they stay in business. Slow, rude, disrespectful, horrible.

Last week, I brought a nice table lamp in because it stopped working after it had been bumped.

I would never buy anything from this brand. I am actively looking to buy new living room and dining…read moreroom furniture with a decent budget to spend. There were literally 4 people sitting around when I walked in the store. Not a single one got out of their seats to ask me if I needed help. The only woman who greeted me was working with another customer. So I basically walked out after being ignored for 5 minutes. They had some decent looking pieces but I will never spend money with a company where the service is poor. It speaks to the quality of the culture and that generally also has an impact of the quality of the product too.

Attempted to purchase lamps today....Restaurants are open at 100%. Schools are back in…read moresession....but Serena and Lily is open by appointment only. After three phone calls and fifteen minutes standing on the sidewalk (after a 45 minute trip to get there), the ladies agreed to let us stand in the lobby because "the other lovely lady was good enough to make an appointment and we are committed to keeping her safe". Give me a break. One customer in your store at at time? If it's lighting you're looking for, lots of retailers sell Regina Andrews and Ro Sham Beaux. I left, deeply offended at the way we were spoken to and uncomfortable to be treated like COVID patient zero. I purchased my lighting in person today at a smaller store where my business was appreciated. Rude. Neurotic. No customer service skills whatsoever. Good luck.

Let me add to the other horrible review of this place. Where do I even start. Oh, my first call…read morethere. I called to have someone come to my house and see what I could do for window treatments. They came to my friends house up the street and really helped her. Well Anna wouldn't come to me. She insisted I come to her store in Short Hills. I did want to take advantage of the "sale" and didn't want to waste time, so not only did I agree to go to her store during my work day and miss work, but I even changed the time the day of to make it convenient for her. She was helpful there and we got through what we needed. I got a quote. Negotiated a bit, got me a better price. Still way more expensive then other places, but I was hoping for better service. Guy came the next week. Measured. I had to stay home and miss the morning of work - yes miss more work- because he would only come between 10:30 and 3. Not convenient. But whatever. Then the quote changes to an extra 400$. Now the place is WAY OVER PRICED. Anna said it was because it was an outside mount. However, in the store I gave the correct measurements, but she didn't add on enough for an outside mount. How is that my fault? Or ask where I measured? Warn me even? No, nothing. Then they just cancelled my order, returning my full deposit because they didn't like that I complained about this. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. I hardly write bad reviews, but I couldn't let these people get away with this The one good review that got posted the day after mine (because I told them I was posting a bad review) is a person that only has 1 review on all of Yelp. Don't trust it. Stay away from calico!!!

When I said 'Excuse me..' she continued to walk away and ignore me. The other saleswomen asked how she could help me, then also walked away without me having time to answer. While the store and fabrics may be beautiful, the staff is beyond rude and condescending.
