I have consigned items and was treated in a businesslike way. I liked it. No emotion, no fuss: yes to this item, no to that item. The consignment agreement (which is on the web site, btw) plainly states that items not picked up after the 12 week selling period become the property of HAD. So I am mystified at the other reviews. A consignor should pick up his/her items or expect them to be forfeited. That is the deal. Anyway,I am off to Summit again today with two hooked rugs and a lot of crystal, hoping to consign. Maybe the angels of consignment shops will have a great dog bed....

My husband and I called them to see if they had the exact size love seat we were aiming for before we made the effort to drive over. Cynthia spent the time with me on the phone to go over her inventory and the prices. We decided to show because she said regardless they had a lot of nice things. We found EXACTLY what we needed and then some. Our living room is adorable now and I have to refrain myself from going back to this shop too soon because I'll max out my cc. The only woman who greeted me was working with another customer. So I basically walked out after being ignored for 5 minutes. They had some decent looking pieces but I will never spend money with a company where the service is poor. It speaks to the quality of the culture and that generally also has an impact of the quality of the product too.

I procured an old floor lamp that has a very antique period piece look to it. When trying to adjust…read moreit one night it snapped in two. I didn't want to just let it go since I really liked it's look and how turning it on was activated by a floor switch is unique. I brought in the lamp and the techs looked it over described what appeared to happen - where the break was, the condition of the cord, the hinge and the adjuster. They seemed to know what they were talking about as they went on to describe to me what they were going to do to repair it. They quoted me and gave me about a week of time to do the job. The followed up with me and called when the lamp was ready. After picking up the lamp I am very pleased with the job, they made it so the lamp can be adjusted as I tried to do before breaking it, albeit I have to be careful as it never really was meant to be adjusted. So if you have an antique-y lamp or light device or just a lamp you like in general that needs service try here. My price I felt was fair but hear they can run high on some of their repairs, but there aren't a whole lot of places like this either. I can say though, they did a good job with my lamp.

She insisted I come to her store in Short Hills. I did want to take advantage of the "sale" and didn't want to waste time, so not only did I agree to go to her store during my work day and miss work, but I even changed the time the day of to make it convenient for her. She was helpful there and we got through what we needed. I got a quote. Negotiated a bit, got me a better price. Still way more expensive then other places, but I was hoping for better service. Guy came the next week. Measured. I had to stay home and miss the morning of work - yes miss more work- because he would only come between 10:30 and 3. Not convenient. But whatever. Then the quote changes to an extra 400$. Now the place is WAY OVER PRICED. Anna said it was because it was an outside mount. However, in the store I gave the correct measurements, but she didn't add on enough for an outside mount. How is that my fault? Or ask where I measured? Warn me even? No, nothing. Then they just cancelled my order, returning my full deposit because they didn't like that I complained about this. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. I hardly write bad reviews, but I couldn't let these people get away with this The one good review that got posted the day after mine (because I told them I was posting a bad review) is a person that only has 1 review on all of Yelp. Don't trust it. Stay away from calico!!!
