Their coffee is fantastic (I recommend the Maude's Iced Coffee or the lavender white mocha), I love the novelty of their DIY Italian sodas, and their hot teas are made nice and strong, but I would skip the chai latte because it is a little too weak. Many of their food items can be made gluten-free (my favorite is the Turkey B on a gluten-free wrap) and the staff is familiar with allergy precautions. Service can take a while sometimes, but it isn't so bad if you don't come during a rush. However: avoid at all costs during Fest, it gets crazy crowded for the entire weekend!! I love the atmosphere of Maude's--it's one of my favorite study spots, and it even has a shaded outdoor seating area--but new customers should know that there are only two bathrooms that require a key from the register, and parking is paid but the first two hours are reimbursed. The last, and biggest, downfall of Maude's is the prices: expect to pay around $7 after tax for a small latte. Not unusual for downtown Gainesville, but definitely a stark contrast to more budget-friendly places like Coffee Culture.

One other thing, we are a husband and wife with a toddler and we were literally the only ones there that were a family. It was absolutely crammed pack with college students and they were all in athletic gear. I don't know if we came at the time of an event or something. That's my bad for not reading the sign taped to the table, but at this point there aren't any groups of friends coming in to have personal connections. But okayyyy so I move to the bar seating and it hurt my back to sit there. Since I have a glass, I decided to move to the outdoor table until I finished so I could go work somewhere else? The outdoor table is super sticky and also not comfortable (very flimsy metal patio/cafe sets. Not a lot of space for your belongings). Not only that, a toddler in the "no laptop" area is hitting a wooden car on the windows and tables and I'm not sure how I'm not allowed to sit there, but unruly toddlers are. Very glad to have those personal connections. Anyway, I've been here a few times and the coffee has always been good and I like to get the interesting flavors. I've never had food here, but as someone who grew up eating tacos constantly, my friend's breakfast taco that she got once looked standard but personally I can't speak on that, but I think if you're just looking for a coffee it's fine? But if you're looking for a cozy place to work, the furniture is super uncomfortable and just be wary of their no laptop tables. If I had known this would be my situation, I probably would have chosen one of the other coffee shops in Gainesville that has cozier seating and more free work areas.
