Right off of Route 2, this bake shop/gift shop/ice cream store is cute outside and inside. I don't think you can find a place in the state that sells this amount of homemade Scandinavian baked goods. The Finnish coffee bread had good flavor, though a tad dry. The Scandinavian almond cupcake is a bit sweet for me but has a strong almond flavor. You can find a variety of local food , Scandinavian, and other gifts at the store too. It's a nice place to get a gift on the way to visiting someone. They have dairy products and other perishables as well. There's some outdoor seating at the store and the abundance of flowers outside was a nice touch. I guess, hence, the Kitchen Garden... Service was friendly and helpful. I wished they had some limpa or Finnish rye, but I came pretty late in the day. Maybe I'll try the ice cream sometime, though it's from Bliss over in Attleboro, which is closer to Boston. This general store is a nice stop along Route 2. read more

This place is is great cute store with lots to see. I ordered a pie on a Thursday to be picked up on Sunday morning upon opening. when we arrived the pie was ready and warm . I highly recommend Kitchen Garden the service is fabulous.! As for the pie it was a blueberry pie and it was amazing!!! Their coffee and breads are spectacular! I especially liked the maple flavor. The Finnish bread are great, also the scones and cookies. I did think the cookies are a little over priced.They also have a great gift selection even kids toys games books. Be sure to stop and take a peep. read more

The ice cream was fresh and delicious.There was beautiful scenery and was in a very open area.They sold flowers that were so pretty and perfect.That almost everyone loved they admired the perfect condition they were in.The people there were so kind and understanding.They seemed like the people that you would have a talk with and enjoy the company of them.The service was very fast even with it being packed.It may have just been two orders but they were excellent.I enjoyed my time being there and the beautiful scenery.I recommend coming here if you want flowers or ice cream or anything in the shop. read more

Love this place. Used to go with dad for coffee all the time. But now that I'm a grown up, living in metro west, I don't get out here very often. Literally right of the exit on Rt 2. So convenient- if you happen to be in that area of the state. Get one of the Scandinavian Almond muffins. OMG. So good. To die for good Coffee is self serve out of those thermos dispenser things. I LOVE this place! It's so cute and quaint with nice outdoor seating among the plants, flowers and trees. They bake the most delicious homemade muffins that are made in-house. They also have some Swedish baked goods and gifts. Coffee is always great, local brew. I Love just stopping in for coffee and a muffin, looking around the store then sitting outside where you can just relax. So peaceful!! They are always very friendly there too. This is a cute little business with easy highway access. I tried some of the baked goods and they were tasty. Expect to pay tourist prices. There are also other Scandinavian themed items for sale. While there is outdoor patio seating there is no restroom for customers to use. I don't know how you can offer sit down dining and not have facilities. The Board of Health must be real lax. This is in the country and there aren't any nearby supermarkets or fast food restaurants where you can go either. In the era of covid being able to hit the bathroom and wash your hands before you eat seems pretty basic. For this reason and for the pricing I had to take off a couple stars. read more

I first became addicted to the sticky buns..but seriously, the Finnish coffee bread is the very best I have ever had..baked fresh every day.. Holiday times it is best to order ahead to be sure to get your favorite , but the owner Joyce and staff run the assembly line and kitchen with perfect timing and like a well oiled machine . That clearly comes from years of experience and expertise. I was hopeful about this place based on the reviews but did not have anywhere near the same experience as others. Maybe the baked goods are the key which we didn't have. My kids and I walked around the store part but didn't see much. We waited at the counter for a few minutes to buy a couple of drinks but the people working in the ice cream part didn't seem to notice us. We decided to go outside to the window to get ice cream. The 2 young employees took our order and almost immediately came back to tell us one of the kinds was all melted in the tub so we needed to pick something else. The ice cream was mediocre quality and it seemed the place didn't have any adult presence. It's super cute from the road and has potential but missed the mark for us. read more

In regards to The kitchen Garden its food is shoddy at best the customer service staff is great if i based this review on their merit alone it would be five star. To continue why this is a one star review, on my visit the store was overall bland lacking any direction in brand other than being a store with knock knacks on the shelves the baked goods are okay but often over priced with the amount of effort put in. But the most egregious thing i witnessed was the owner making an enployee cry for mentioning how there is a tip jar in the ice cream section and not the main store. A simple statement caused the employer to demean and degrade this poor woman I asked the other employees if this was a regular occurrence and that seems to be the case. If you are looking for ice cream go to any other shop i recommend kays or lees hotdog stand, also the ice cream is extremely over priced. Truly deplorable!!! read more

We stopped by on our trip across the state bc of the yelp reviews- perfect place to stop and it is just off rt2- the baked goods were really fantastic! How often do you get Finnish baked goods? They were fantastic - my German husband devoured half of what I bought before I even got a chance to try the- said they were too good not to eat. The Finnish coffee bread, the almond cake and cupcakes, what ever those little toasts where.....sure wish we had something like that close to us in the Lowell area. I loved this place. What happened??? I haven't been able to get there for several months, I used to stop while traveling back and forth for work as a visiting nurse, but my schedule changed. I was so happy to finally be able to stop the other afternoon, to stock up on all my favorite items. I was shocked to see the braided Finnish bread (which I would buy 4-5 at a time) is now much, much smaller than it used to be ... and for the same price! I'm talking noticeably tinier, not just a little bit. This is a major change, and I was not at all pleased to plunk down that amount of cash. As my family was expecting it, I still purchased three loaves, but was rather upset at their size. On this visit things were pretty wiped out, but I purchased potato bread, almond muffins, a raspberry muffin, and a few cookies from about a dozen total that remained still in the display case. I ate two cookies on my long drive home; they were good, but smaller and drier (baked longer?) than all those I've purchased from there in the past. The almond muffins were tasty, the raspberry a bit overdone on the edges. The potato bread basically crumbled and fell apart after cutting, so was impossible to make sandwiches with (or anything else besides tasty crumbs). And last but not least, our beloved coffee braid was soft and tender, but with a barely sugared top AND missing the cardamom, at least none of us could detect it! And again, so tiny that we could no longer slice and put it into our standard toaster. This was the hugest disappointment to have this favorite bread changed in size and flavor so drastically. I can't imagine what they were thinking to shrink the loaves to that ridiculous size. Overall, very upsetting and disheartening. My family was very disappointed. read more
