    Clam roll

I was delighted with clam roll and onion rings. Outside picnic tables and one can bring their own beverages. Clams were light and the roll filled with them. Could there be more clams? Yes but probably higher price. Onion rings NOT greasy!

There isn't much out here in this area. My brother lives a couple of towns away w my Mom. So when I said "lunch" we came here. It is takeout winter cool months or sit down picnic table with a roof connected to kitchen for warmer seasons. We brought home: clam chowder, clam rolls onion rings and fries. All pretty reasonably priced. Cooked fresh and delicious. S and S Lobster in Fitchburg owns Kay's. The menu has many seafood offers which are very tasty here too, shrimp, scallops, fish, all kinds of seafood. S and S does a brisk business in Fitchburg and has a good reputation. Here at Kay's, a similar offering of clams whole belly or strips, scallops, chicken fingers etc. kinda the same menu here. We like whole clams. I had a maple walnut ice cream cone of Gifford's from Maine ice cream that was delicious, todays special $1.99! Pretty good! The counter woman is very efficient and gets the order done quick and correct. The phone orders coming in every 2 minutes Five stars for her too!

    Spicy chili garlic tenders

Went to Kay's tonight after seeing a post of their specials. Fish tacos and the spicy garlic chili tenders. The fish tacos we liked but definitely want to try them again, as they ran out of grouper and they were made with haddock instead. Would definitely pair well with a nice cilantro, lime cream sauce. The boneless spicy garlic chili tenders were Ah-Mazing sweet to start and then spicy.. definitely recommend getting them with their ranch, it makes them taste similar to the old Border wings! Trust me you won't be disappointed if you like spicy chicken with flavor. Never disappointed whenever we go to Kay's, so we will definitely be back.

Multiple order and pickup windows confusing.

Lots of everything! Lots of parking, outdoor seating, ice cream flavors, food, and workers. Also, lots of people in line (I waited 25 minutes around 1:30 pm). This seemed to be because of the general incompetence of the staff. They could not keep orders straight, we're confused by a request to pack ice cream to go, and all took their breaks at once. Ice cream was fine. The turtle sundae has peanuts, not pecans (which is traditional). The boats take extra time, I believe because they had to go to the wharf searching for them. Order simple and you should be happier.

So good from icecream to lobster/steamers and even the lobster bisque. I'm glad to live in town and have this nearby. Been going since I was a kid

Too bad you have to pay before you receive this sorry excuse.

Disgusting! Food was so soggy. The boxes were so full of water. Made the food mush. Was way to overpriced.

The sign says Fish Market & Chowder Company, but what you walk into is 95% restaurant, 5% "technicality fish market," and that last 5% is doing the kind of work that would make a union rep cry. Let's be clear: The Angler is no longer selling fresh seafood. Not in any meaningful, market‑based, "take this home and cook it" way. What they are selling is the idea of a fish market -- the ghost of one -- while running a packed dining room full of people slurping oysters like it's a Cape Cod tourist trap in July. And speaking of tourist traps: They've got a tour bus parked outside. A tour bus. For a "local fish market." That's like seeing a stretch limo outside a Dollar Tree -- you immediately know something is off. As a chef, my time is valuable. As a food reviewer with an actual show, my time is documented. And nothing ticks me off faster than false advertising dressed up as nostalgia. If you've abandoned the fresh fish counter because the restaurant side makes more money? Fine. But update your signage. Update your branding. Stop wasting people's gas and goodwill. I walked in looking for fresh haddock. What I got was wall‑to‑wall oyster eaters and not a single square foot dedicated to what the sign promised. You can get oysters anywhere. You cannot get a proper local fish counter everywhere -- and certainly not in a space this cramped. If ownership wants to reach out and explain the pivot, I'm open to it. I'll even give them a redemption arc on one of my platforms. But right now? This new direction is the wrong fit for the location, the footprint, and the legacy they're trading on. Call me when you're ready to rebuild. I'll help. But today? Today was a misstep -- and an avoidable one.

Gardner Ale House at Moon Hill Brewing gave us a nice evening of good music, cold brews, good food,…read moredollar oysters! (Apr 2026). We came here to try out their Monday Blues, and happened on their Monday Buck-a-Shuck oysters! We found a long room with over 70 seats set up at tables for four that looked combine-able, about 20 seats at the bar and at 2-seat hightops, both rooms with a wall of windows. The band set up in the bar window, but sit where you like, we found that we could hear the band everywhere! There's also a small enclosed outdoor patio with about 30 more seats at umbrellaed tables. The Jim Atkinson band is a foursome of Boston-area musicians that has been cranking out great blues, rock, & roots since 2017. We loved them, especially enjoying the creative keyboard and a real live sax! Their music selection was amazing, more their favorite solid blues than old-standbys, so we didn't recognize every song. But that's real music :-) The $1 New England oysters were big and juicy! They started at 4pm before we got there, and they still had plenty for us after 7pm! They say the variety changes with availability. These were not overly salty. This was dinner for us, and we started with their hot-skillet "Mexican Corn Dip" with zingy pico de gallo salsa and fresh crisp corn tortilla chips. We got a "warm energy" bowl of quinoa, fresh tart cranberries, baby spinach, roasted sweet potato, and goat cheese, flavored with some scallions and garlic-butter. Huge, delicious, and very satisfying! The Fish 'n Chips was a full-foot-long full of their own Moon-Hill-beer beer-battered haddock, piping-hot fries, fresh crunchy coleslaw, with tartar sauce. Yep, Huge, delicious, and satisfying! We tried their parmesan-garlic wings, but that wasn't our favorite. They were ok, but not crispy which we expected. Came with crunchy celery and creamy bleu cheese. Of course we leaned on their in-house Moon Hill brewery for several dry IPAs, their luscious Candy Mountain blueberry sour, (which could have been colder), and a very tasty non-alcohol Blueberry (Not)-tini, a bubbly beverage crafted with "Reàl Blueberry Purée", fresh lemon juice and lemonade. This is a nice community bar, brewery, restaurant, and patio. We are already looking forward to their big Octoberfest!
