There was one menu item where I couldn't tell if the lettuce was pale romaine, or iceberg. Hopefully romaine, since iceberg has no nutrition. I'm thankful they're open late, and that food comes in paper-based boxes. BUT I wish they'd pay attention to notes, better yet, add a menu item for utensils and default that to none. For all of my orders, late in the day, I've put notes in the item and order comments to leave out plastic utensils, but they've been ignored or missed. I even attempted to do that in 2-3 other languages, despite the handwritten "Thank you" on the order. I have a big bag of unused plastic utensils and unrecyclable containers that I don't know what to do with, taking up room. I take my orders home, and if I don't, I have camping utensils as well as a metal straw in my car. Besides more prospective trash to pay to have removed, on the business side you're paying for something there could be less of to pay for and pass on the cost of. I've previously contacted the management of east-bay eats, and suggested they configure the restaurant menus, without any positive change. This is state law, and not new, to only give single-use utensils, condiments, stirrers, straws if customer requests them, not the other way around. Many places either don't know, that info hasn't been passed from management to workers, or they've ignored the law. It's really annoying if I don't catch that when picking up (assuming a live person to speak with), especially if I've said something already. Yes, some people on social use a laugh emoji, but it's not funny. Think of all the trash from takeout when every order has plastic thrown in. And there's nothing I can use a plastic fork for. At least with wood chopsticks I can use them to clean mud from the bottoms of my boots.
