This shop renewed my faith in humanity! My car key broke in the ignition in a parking lot in White Plains. The Locksmith (sadly I didn't get his name) let me borrow a pair of pliers. He didn't ask for anything (no driver's license, money, nothing! The pliers did the trick! When I returned them, I tried to give him a tip which he flatly (put politely) refused. A true gentleman! Worst person to do business with. Undependable . Non responsive and never keeps appointments or his word. He was hired to replace locks in a multi condo building. Would just show up without appointments or made appointments and not show up. I called keymasters locksmith a week ago due to not hearing from my tenant for a few months and now I know why , she skipped town and nystate law protecting tenants means I can say goodbye to April, may, June , July , August rent . It's ok but I must have the door locks changed and Keymasters locksmith are nearby and reliable and rates are reasonable . In less then an hour the locksmith changed both locks and I don't have to worry about my former deadbeat tenant trying to come back inside unless she wants to slip the back rent under the door which is not going to happen ever. I was quoted $75 service call for the job. My Emtek lock was not opening. I emailed photos of the lock and did to know if they had one. Serviceman arrived on time this morning and opened the door and said I needed to replace the lock. (at the end of the job he said he did not know if the lock was broken but he did not want to try to put it back together). I made a mistake not asking about the charges in advance but my experience has been that locksmiths charge by the time it takes. He was at my house for one hour. When I got the bill I was charged $495 for the lock which included a service charge for installing it, plus $75 service charge, $90 deadbolt rekey charge, plus he tried to charge a door open charge but removed it when I protested. Total $718.59. This lock has a warrantee but he said they will only cover one year and will not accept the manufacturers warrantee. He also said they do not care what other locksmith's charge. And I had to remind him three times to wear a mask. He arrived without one. Do not use this Locksmith. read more

If a person is providing a service you should not have to chase after them to get them to do a job for you. I went back and forth for over a week over trying to arrange a day for them to do work for me. Multiple times they tell me they would contact me back with availability then never doing so. I had to send follow up texts several times asking for availability and never getting a straight answer. It was like pulling teeth! Why am I twisting your arm to give you my money? Awful customer service. I went with another area locksmith and got better service and an appointment within 24 hrs. This experience was frustrating enough to have me write only my second ever review on here after several years. read more

Got locked out. Poop. My local locksmith didn't have availability, but Keymasters was able to dispatch someone fairly quickly which was appreciated. He opened my lock in less than a minute. Great (I think?) My issue is with the pricing. I was quoted $85 over the phone--not cheap, but this is my own fault and I agreed to it. However when it came time to pay a $20 surcharge was added. When I asked what it was for I was told that the $85 is just to open the lock and the surcharge is for gas, etc. Sooo, you never factored in gas and such into your original quote because somehow you thought I'd bring my locked door to you? Sorry but I can't deal with businesses who have shady pricing and hidden fees that only come up once the job has been done and the customer has no choice but to pay. I called back and the lady who picks up the phone was VERY nasty. Eli, who stated he is the new owner of the business, did offer to come back and fix the issue after he saw my Yelp review but the damage is already done. I found a new locksmith to handle the situation. They told me that the prior locksmiths, who were to only change the cylinders, actually shaved down the metal plate hence why my door now has play. My door is now forever damaged. I will gladly point out that Eli was NOT the one to do the original work on April 22nd. I don't know the names of the 2 individuals that showed up but I dealt with Key Masters on April 22nd so whoever they sent did a shoddy job. read more

In and out in under 5 minutes. I lost my spare set of house keys (I know, ironic) and needed a copy made. I got 2 new ones for $4 in literally 3 minutes. I'd put 15 minutes on the parking meter and it had 12 left when I returned. Wow. Granted, I haven't had a chance to try my keys at home yet because I'm on a business trip, but I will leave an update after I do. Keep in mind that the price I got may not be the one you get. I've used Keymasters before with success. But yesterday, I became locked out of my house. Now, I fully understand and I expected to not be able to get away on the cheap. And they dispatched a technician quite quickly who was very nice and able to resolve the situation. But the technician insisted on adding an extra $25 service fee that was not included in the original quote ... despite my telling him that that's not what I was quoted. I needed Medco keys made and no one else I went to made them. I entered Key Masters and they were happy to make the keys and even provided a generous discount since I was making many sets. In addition, just days later, a painter who was working in my place had left and somehow locked a bottom lock from inside and we have no key! (They were given the top key only and instructed to use that lock only). In a panic, I called Key Masters and the owner, Eli, not only agreed to help me, but worked with my schedule and my urgency to help me gain access to my home just a few hours later. He was kind and helpful. He even checked in with later me to make sure I was ok and the lock and keys were all working well. Had them rekey my lock and asked for five copies of keys, thinking they would be around $2-$3, which is what they charged for a copy of the same key for the same lock (omnia). They did a reasonable job of rekeying and coming in on time, but instead of bringing generic (schlage) copies, they brought genuine omnia keys without informing me that they would cost $8 each. Wouldn't matter for one key, but 10 keys ended up $80 instead of $20 (what I paid when I made copies of omnia keys in the store two years ago). 4 stars for service, -2 stars for predatory pricing w/o informing the client ahead of time, thus average of 1 star. read more

I called Keymasters in early April to rekey the locks in my mother's house. The technician was very professional. He had a problem with one of the locks and had to change the part at no cost to me. Almost a month later I called and asked if someone could come back to the house. We were unable to open the deadbolt on the front door after locking it. He came within half an hour and worked on the lock for quite a while. He finally got it fixed at no charge. We are very happy with the prompt and professional service of this company.
