    Llamas in love
    paul g.

I adored this place. The decor was impeccable! Like walking into an artsy aunt's beautiful bohemian flat, but not in Greenwich village, and rather in the Hudson Valley. There were llamas and they looked they might also be in love. I would return in a second if I had the chance. They even set up a bonfire down by their lake during the reception. Highly recommended. I photographed a wedding here, as I am a professional wedding photographer with Hazelphoto do tcom.

We stayed here a few times over the years. It's very boutique ish. Beautifully decorated rooms. They have original art in every room. The bathrooms are fully stocked with everything you need. It includes a few mini bar. There are animals on the farm. The views from the rooms are incredible. The in innkeeper I'd very friendly and helpful. Great for a couple. And to top it off, every room had a Jacuzzi with candles. Highly recommend.

    Our kitty enjoying the view!

I don't quite know how to describe our getaway to Winter Clove Inn this December. My overall sense…read moreis that many guests are returning families, for whom Winter Clove Inn holds special nostalgic memories, and they love it here. However, new guests that are expecting a 5-star resort based on Google classification will likely be pretty disappointed. The main Inn is old and charming, but it and the adjacent property buildings are showing their age in a not-so-charming way. For example, two of our five guest rooms in Oak Lodge had broken heat, which the property was certainly aware of as they had placed space heaters in the rooms before our arrival. During our last day, there was no water at all in the Carriage House, so guests could not flush toilets or wash hands, even after bowling! Really basic features you would expect in even a roadside motel, such as tissues in guest rooms, were not provided. Toilet seats that needed replacing are mismatched, with oval seats on square front toilets, and the toilet cover in the main lodge was broken and not repaired during our stay. Despite being "pet-free," blankets smelled like dog. Despite the rustic accommodations, our family created our own fun together. Our reserved table in the dining room was uncomfortably tight for 13 guests, which was continually apparent during the slow food service. The amount of food at each meal was plentiful, but servers were poorly trained as they repeatedly failed to clear place settings from one course before bringing another course, and repeatedly miscounted orders bringing the incorrect number of soups, desserts, etc. Aside from some disappointing low points, such as the embarrassing frozen mixed vegetables being served as the "vegetable of the day," or uncut unripe honeydew wedges served as the fruit option, the meals were basic but acceptable fare.

Prior to the wedding, she is a wealth of information and resources for clients and vendors alike so you never have to start from scratch. As a Planner I know that working with experienced, vetted vendors is worth its weight in gold and Kerri helped make that happen. It's honestly a great venue for "the destination couple" who wants a beautiful rustic wedding at a great venue, without having to worry about a thing - trust me, Kerri will take care of you. Owls Hoot Barn even has an in-house planning team you can hire, that is dedicated to serving OHB couples who need additional support. The Wedding Weekend (helped along by great weather!) went even better than I hoped for this client! I worked with Abigail to get some early setup done and she is a gem! The day of the wedding I was thoroughly impressed with the Venue's Staff, including the in-house food and beverage staff that worked seamlessly with the preferred catering company Forno Rosso. Ashley was such a huge help all day and quickly answered all my random questions and requests throughout the day. Our bartenders for the evening were Brandy and Terri and I never saw them without a smile as they helped guests. The F&B Staff were - always attentive and willing to help with small adjustments. From Jessica who helped make sure everything looked great and went according to plan, to Kerri's own daughter - everyone was polished, professionally dressed, and overall incredible. The guest experience was perfect. Our clients were happy and their guests had a blast!

Kerri stopped at nothing to make sure we felt taken care of, that every detail was handled, and that our day ran as smoothly as possible. Even when some very unexpected rain hit right in the middle of our ceremony, her team was incredible. They transitioned everything inside without a hitch and made sure the celebration continued seamlessly. We never had to worry about a thing. The property itself is stunning beyond belief, and having so many of our closest friends and family stay with us on-site made the entire weekend that much more special. It truly felt like we had this beautiful little world to ourselves for the weekend, and we couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to get married. We would not change a single thing. We are so incredibly grateful to Kerri and her entire team, and I would recommend this venue to absolutely anyone. Truly the best weekend and the best day of our lives!

Deb and Steve were so welcoming and helpful in answering all of our questions, and their property is absolutely gorgeous. While we ended up going with a different event space, closer to our ceremony site, I would recommend Stonehouse Gardens to anyone looking for a unique and rustic place to host an event, particularly if you are looking to be in the natural beauty of the outdoors. Everyone is shocked when I tell them that we stayed inside what was the giraffe house. The rooms are well-appointed, and the communal are spacious. There's a full kitchen for you to use, couches, tables, a coffee bar. But for the people who are here to explore the modern ruins, the real appeal is outside the inn. We probably spent 5 hours exploring all over the abandoned zoo, and I'm not sure we covered everything. Almost everything is open, so you can go into the buildings, inside the fences, even inside the cages. It's spooky, but so cool. And since the inn has only five rooms, we hardly saw anyone while we were out there, since you can only explore the property if you're staying there. It's only about 20 minutes to downtown Catskill, where we went to eat both nights, but while you're on the property, it's completely quiet, except for the creepily atmospheric sounds of the gun range down the road.
