The cafe was super cute and had a decent amount of seating! The coffee was delicious and so was the food! Will definitely be returning!

The Judith has firmly earned a place on my personal list of Cleveland gems. The concept follows the classic French café model -- meaning it's far more than a coffee stop. You'll find a thoughtful range of cocktails and food alongside excellent coffee, creating the kind of all-day destination that feels both relaxed and special. Having spent time living in France, I can say the ambiance feels remarkably authentic -- airy, vibrant, and intentionally designed without feeling contrived. That authenticity is paired with serious culinary credibility. The owner's background in high-level hospitality - several years at Grammercy Tavern, crown jewel of Danny Meyer's restaurant group - is evident in dishes that are precise, balanced, and often surprisingly nuanced in their flavor combinations. We've visited several times for brunch and appreciate the flexible menu formats: a smaller selection of sandwiches and salads alongside a tartine-focused offering featuring multiple croque variations. The carrot salad with lemon and lentils was one of the most memorable dishes I've had in quite some time -- not just in Cleveland, but anywhere. Bright, layered, and deeply satisfying. The Bloody Mary - based on a recipe from another NY icon, Gabrielle Hamilton, founder of Prune - is equally noteworthy: bold, savory, and easily the best I've had in Northeast Ohio. I'll stand by that claim. Beyond the food and drink, what truly elevates The Judith is the atmosphere and the people. The space feels joyful and welcoming, and the staff operates with a warmth and cohesion that gives the restaurant a genuine sense of community. A wonderful experience every time. Cleveland is lucky to have The Judith -- and we'll absolutely be back again and again.

Judith truly has some of the smoothest coffee I've had in the area! I've been on a bit of a coffee tour lately, and Judith was such a delight, easily one of my top recommendations. The service was incredibly kind. I went early in the morning, and they were so generous with their time. It's clearly a place that genuinely cares about the people who walk through the door. It's quaint, cozy, and the perfect spot to catch up with a friend or settle in and get some work done.

Always a treat, literally from the chocolate croissant to the welcoming baristas, The Judith never disappoints. It's a gem in a long overdue city revival, nestled on the corner, don't drive too fast you might miss it. Sourdough bread is scratch made, the granola is simple and delicious, the chai is hot, it can never be too hit and my husband loves a Saturday morning espresso.

The Judith is a gorgeous, thoughtfully curated, Parisian-style cafe on the Cleveland westside that marries rustic antique vibes of Cleveland with the sophistication of a European coffeeshop. Service is always pleasant and as efficient as possible-- but it's quality over quick here, so be prepared to wait at least 5-10 mins for your food, if you ordered something specific... The food is luxurious and carefully crafted. My favs are the labne & jam on sourdough and, of course, the Croque Judith. I will say, it's better to come for brunch than for evening snackies because I, personally, didn't think the charcuterie platter was worth it. Brunch/lunch is phenomenal and the coffee is solid. Highly recommend ordering the Croque Judith with a Cafe Miel (honey latte)!

The Judith cafe is an absolute hidden gem tucked into Lorain Ave. it really does have a Paris atmosphere/vibe to it. Everyone was so friendly and gave awesome recommendations. The Croissants were big and buttery and flakey, and I love that the butter and jam came on dishes, the jam was AMAZING! They were also warmed which was awesome. We got a chai, cappuccino, and espresso sparkling water with orange. Everything was incredible and great taste. I absolutely love the glasses and dishes everything came out in. You can't find many coffee shops it seems that truly gives you this type of dining experience and attention to detail that the judith cafe does when sitting in. It may not look like much on the outside but this place is a must!! They have some awesome menu items as well for drinks and food/small eats and more! I can't wait to make my way back over here.

This is a cute French-inspired cafe. I finally visited in December 2024. I love the decor and charm of the place. When I first visited, on 11 December 2024, I ordered to-go (takeaway order) for lunch. I got to meet the owner and he was really nice. He owns this cafe with his wife. When I visited for the second time (20 December 2024), I came to work for a few hours in the morning. FOOD -- I've had the below: (1) Croque Royale ($13) -- prosciutto cotto, tomatoes, persillade, jammy egg (for breakfast) - this is egg and ham on a thick toast. I rate it a 3.5/5 because it came cold and I didn't realize that the egg wouldn't be cooked all the way. (2) Cassoulet Salad ($16) -- kale, corona beans, pancetta, charred tomatoes, bread crumbs, and shallot rosemary vinaigrette (for lunch). I rate it 5/5 although it is quite expensive. DRINKS -- I've only had 1 tea option (I don't drink coffee) (1) Lavender Chamomile Rooibos ($4), Onyx tea brand - a herbal tea that is light and refreshing. Rooibos is a red tea from South Africa. My favourite was the cassoulet salad because it was filled with flavour especially the chunky pieces of pancetta. The shallot rosemary vinaigrette is a game changer that makes this salad the best that I've probably ever had. I tried to recreate this salad at home and it just wasn't the same but it tasted good. The reason it wasn't the was that I couldn't find a version of this salad dressing in my local grocery store plus I used prosciutto instead of pancetta because the same store did not have pancetta on hand (haha). To summarize, they have plenty of options for breakfast and lunch. As a reminder, when I visited the cafe a second time, in December 2024 (morning), the breakfast sandwich was cold plus my friend who joined me said that her sardines dish was also cold. So, that was a bit disappointing. Plus, on that same day, their internet (wifi) was not working so I picked the wrong day to work from home there (fine because my friend I later switched to working at Lekko Coffee shop). Service was pleasant during my two visits. Prices are steep but overall, the food is good. I'll certainly be back in 2025 **** GOAL of 365 reviews in 2025 - 5/365 total reviews in 2025 - 786 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 1 January 2025

    CASSOULET SALAD
    Monique W.

Found this cute little spot on a Sunday. I was hungry, but wanted something light but most importantly I needed coffee and the Judith has both. So far my coffee is amazing (I'm still here sipping.) For food, I had the CASSOULET SALAD. I love kale so this was quite a treat, but I'm not a mean person so I kinda had to force my way through them. But to my surprise even they were kinda good (... Like I said, I'm not a bean person so not even tasty beans can change my mind.) I also tried the LAVENDER HONEY THYME LATTE-- delicious The only thing I will say is that as a first time patron, I really was not sure how to proceed with sitting and or ordering, but eventually a staff person was friendly enough to guide me through the process. Looking forward to coming back with my laptop and maybe getting some reading and much needed writing done. P.S. Seems like a great spot to meet up with friends you have not seen in a while or maybe even see all the time--and just need a chill spot to have a drink, a great cup of coffee and good laugh.

Such a great cafe! The menu is limited but the food never disappoints. I love the croque monsieurs. Sometimes hard to get a seat during busy time.

I haven't gotten a chance to eat a meal off of their main menu, however I have had a sample and I'm super excited to return. A friend invited me to a summer garden party the owners of The Judith were throwing in the empty lot next to their cafe. I originally went inside the restaurant which was closing. It's super cute and quaint inside. There's a bar that isn't too intrusive and several bistro like tables. The restaurant gets a ton of beautiful , natural light. This was my first time at the restaurant and I was initially surprised by the location. It's right off the highway on Lorain Avenue. I was expecting it to be near the other restaurants in the more developed portion of the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood, It's not far, but feels pretty different. My surprise quickly turned into happiness, as it's nice to see more great locally owned businesses spread out across this neighborhood. The empty lot next to the restaurant is just a basic green space with a few big trees that provide shade to the back. It would be lovely if they built out a patio in this space. The event was a welcome to summer party, they served grilled oysters 6 for $20, citrus olives and some type of nuts. There was also Aperol spritz', some beer, NA beer, and wine. The oysters were absolutely delicious. They were fresh and made to order. They put some type of butter herb sauce on them that I literally could have drank from a bowl. The olives were also phenomenal. I loved the hint of citrus and rich oil. This party was a beautiful little sample of what this place is all about. Delicate, fresh food in a calm space. Can't wait to return.

Judith is a beautiful place to go out and dine. I took my mom here one week ago for the classic cold weather dish beef bourguignon. We had some nice wine to go with the meal and split the bread and butter app. I cannot wait to come back and try more dishes. It also seems like a great place to hang out during the day time and have some drinks and work from the old laptop. People keep raving about the place called Jaja and how beautiful it looks. To that I say jajaja in Spanish. This place is more beautiful and authentic.

One of my fave spots in Cleveland! So cozy and cute. Really feels like a European cafe - and the food and coffee are great. Love that they're doing something unique here.

I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

I think I've tried this place enough to finally declare it an overall disappointment. Today I tried…read morethe hoisin tofu sandwich. The bread was fresh and crusty, there were two small strips of tofu that had maybe been dribbled on by hoisin sauce at some point, some lettuce and jalapeño slices, and carrots. The sandwich was dry as a bone and a really sad empty version of a banh mi. The chocolate rye cookie I bought as a back up was thankfully still deliciously chocolatey and soft as usual. The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.

Weekends, espeically in the winter, will be more crowded so be aware if others make you nervous. I personally get nervous about gaming when others are around. My brain shuts down and I loose critical thinking skills necessary to win. And winning is life. Onward, the food was meh. I ordered the cheese flatbread 'Za, hoping to channel my inner teenage mutant ninja turtle and smash my fellow turtle completion. But the pizza was bland. It was like pita with cheese on. Now, back to the games - I will say, some of the games are very advanced and will require extensive set up and knowledge on how to play. If there's game you're interested in playing, and you have little knowledge, I recommend looking up the rules first and checking out tutorial vids. Otherwise, you'll waste a lot of time figuring out the logistics. If you wanna go from bored to board games, I recommend this place!
