To be fair- we were by for dinner on a weekend and this neighbourhood is known for being very quiet on the weekends so in terms of atmosphere- it was very quiet, vibe almost non existent- very comparable to dinning in a hotel restaurant. The interior is well decorated with banquet seating and chairs throughout. I imagine if it was busier it would be quite a happening spot. Service was attentive and food came out quickly (again it was not busy at all so would be shocked if it didn't). In terms of the menu- as a pescatarian who likes healthier options there wasn't lots items that stood out, in terms of protein items it would be limited to their salmon, poke bowl or shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, the salmon on beet salad was nothing memorable but also not bad at all. The truffle fries not the best either, the fried cauliflower was DELICIOUS but buttered, fried and drenched in a sweet sauce so definitely not healthy. My friends did love the tartar and commented on how well the steak was cooked. We finished with the chocolate cake and the carrot cake. The chocolate cake was super gooey- good but again nothing special. The carrot cake though was AMAZING. Would I come back? Probably not as there are better options out there but I'm glad I tried it! read more

Went here on st paddy's day. It was pretty busy during happy hour and loud. One friend got the pre fix meal with beet salad, roasted chicken, and cheesecake. I got the braised beef pasta. And another friend got the poke bowl. The beet salad and cheesecake were good, but my pasta was extremely greasy and not that flavorful. For a $32 dish, it didn't really have a whole lot of braised beef either. I wouldn't go back. read more

I had supper last evening with two friends. I had Crispy Roast Half Chicken (buttery mashed potatoes, maple-glazed carrots, smoked chicken gravy), which was delicious. Rona had Fish & Chips (two pieces, Henderson's beer-battered cod tempura, marinated cabbage, thousand island sauce) but replaced the chips with a salad. She said it was good, though the batter was salty. Liz had Roasted Squash Cannelloni (brown butter, monterey jack cheese, sage, nutmeg, pumpkin seed crumble) and said it was good. We'd never seen a Baked Alaska (raspberry sorbet, chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, spiced rum) before so Liz and I shared one. It was tasty and fun! My colleagues and I came for summerlicious lunch. We chose this restaurant as it was one of the restaurants with the most variety of apps and mains. The Joneses had a total of 5 mains to choose from, covering different type proteins and had a vegetarian option. I chose the salmon gravlax for apps, beef tenderloin skewer with potato salad for main, and the brownie for dessert. Out of the 3 courses, my favourite was the salmon gravlax. The presentation was amazing! The smoked salmon was not overly salty and the creme fraiche balanced the rest of the condiments really well. The accompanying toast was very thin, just like potato crisp. The beef tenderloin came as 1 skewer alternating 4 cubes of beef with grilled zucchini. Whilst ordering, the server told us that the beef was cooked medium rare. I'm usually a medium kind of person, but decided to be a bit adventurous and try it a notch more rare. The beef was extremely tender, but I wish there was more grilled flavour to it (e.g. maybe a slight char on the outside?) I was looking forward to the chimichurri and therefore was a tad disappointed when so little was drizzled on the skewer. The brownie was quite thin and s a result, it was not as moist as I hoped. I went for dinner and when we got there, it was busy, but nothing crazy. It is very spacious and has a warm ambiance. Staff is friendly but could definitely use some work. We were neglected a decent amount of the time.. we waited for our drink order to be taken and they just kept walking by, luckily another staff member noticed and took our order. Once our drinks were brought, we asked for a straw and again, we were neglected until we asked someone else. The fried calamari was okay - kind of chewy and salty in some spots so I think it was overcooked. The dipping sauce was really good. What saved it was the pizza, I ordered the Hawaiian bee sting and it was really good. The dough was soft, had a bit of sweetness, spiciness. I usually don't like a Hawaiian pizza but this, I enjoyed. The happy hour is pretty good at The Joneses. But not all cocktails are in the happy hour. I wish they were clear about it. Only mint julep, old fashioned and one other drink was in the happy hour. So it can be a bit misleading. The mixologist, Jeff, was friendly and told us about some other good places in the area as he's been around the Toronto food and drink scene for a while. The cheese bread that looks like cinnamon rolls is so amazing. I think this elevated our happy hour experience. The ambiance is nice but very bright. If they dim the lights a bit, it'll be a more cozy experience. Overall, a good spot for a happy hour. read more

We love all O&B restaurants. But this one may need some work. We invited a few friends to a bunch on a Friday morning, and the restaurant was relatively quiet. The service was subpar in comparison to other O&B experiences. Even the manager was grumpy as we told her one of the dishes (roasted mushroom side dish) was not very good as the pressed mushroom was so chewy, I thought I was not meant to eat it, but our server and the manager said it is eatable, to a point I don't think anyone cares. This place is trying to keep up with the Joneses, and it may take a natural leader to get there. My partner complained about the $32 Hawaiian Bee Sting pizza not being a good value as it is a super small pizza. Having said it, the kids enjoyed the Mac & Cheese. Will I go back? The great: Such an absolute beauty of a restaurant. The cheese bread, like everyone says, is incredible and worth the hype. People seem to hate on the beef tartare, but I thought it was unique and delicious and fit in well with the restaurant's theme. Like fancy deconstructed Big Mac style. I would go back for these two things alone. The drinks were excellent. The customer service was great. The medium: Tried both sushi options (torched salmon and spam misubi) and neither are made with sushi rice, which is an obvious miss when it's the bulk of a dish (clumsy larger size grains that don't stick together properly). We received an incorrectly punched in salmon dish, which was waived with no issue, but we tried it anyway and if we had ordered it, we would have been disappointed as the whole thing was pretty bland. The bad: Totally understanding how insignificant this is, but in this stunner of a restaurant, with gorgeous bathrooms, the soap is pink Softsoap, just in its original container plopped on the sink. That is an absolutely insane choice. read more

We decided to have a girls' dinner here. While the restaurant offers the level of customer service you'd expect in the area, we arrived at 5:30 pm before the rush. As the restaurant got busier, our lovely server was overwhelmed, juggling multiple tables while also acting as the busboy, water refiller, and order taker. I was surprised they didn't have him in the back preparing meals. My friends ordered a burger and fries, and a pasta dish, while I chose the torched salmon. My friends complained about the saltiness of their meal and how bland the burger was. As for my meal, which was $21 for six pieces of torched salmon, it was the worst I've ever had! It was completely bland. The torching added no smoky flavor to the salmon, and worst of all, they didn't use sushi rice! The rice wasn't marinated at all, and it was cold. I've had better sushi at the mall, and it didn't cost me $21. The most disappointing part of the meal was the dessert. I ordered the coconut cream pie. Having made this dessert from scratch myself (including the pie crust), I can confidently say that coconut cream pie typically includes a pie crust, coconut custard, and whipped cream. To my surprise, there was no custard! It was more of a tart filled with coconut-flavored whipped cream, like the kind you buy at the grocery store. My friend was so upset on my behalf that she called the floor manager, who apologized and said the dessert wasn't explained to me properly. I don't think my expectations were unreasonable; a coconut cream pie usually has three key elements! In the end, they were kind enough to comp the dessert and give me a new one. I opted for the carrot cake, which was actually pretty good. Overall, our server was lovely, but the restaurant definitely needed more staff, as the wait times were a bit long. read more

This restaurant felt hugggge like way more seating than most places i've been in the city, so i think it may be catering to tourists and corporate meetings? but the decor is quite cozy and nice. we each ordered a cocktail and they were super yummy. we opted to share the cheesy bread, a ceasar salad, and the ribeye with two sides. i wanted to be hater so bad (just naturally how i am lol) because it seemed like the place you took pics for instagram rather than enjoy the meal too much, but the food was actually very good. the peppercorn sauce you can order worth the steak is a star, and the warm cheesy bread is a must!! because of the prices, i don't know if this will become a go to spot but if you are going out with a bigger group or are entertaining visitors i think it's worth checking out! read more

Decided to try The Joneses with a friend. We started with cocktails that were quite enjoyable, then we split a bottle of wine with dinner. We had the warm cheese bread (delicious and highly recommend) as well as the prime rib pressed sushi. Starters were very tasty. For our mains, my friend ordered the lobster gnocchi and I ordered the steak tartare with beef fat fries on the side. The gnocchi were tasty but not outstanding. Steak tartare was great. Service is friendly and they were still working out some kinks. I think once they've been open longer it should improve. Interior is warm, with a few different spaces. Music was a confusing mix. Go there a little early before going to see a show. First time there. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. However, once it starts to get a "little" busy it all changed. Took over 20m to get 2 beers and one cocktail. I ordered the smash burger and fries. They did not bring any condiments for the burger and I wasn't going to ask for fear of how long it would take. I'm convinced the fries were from the frozen section of the local supermarket. The burger was basically tasteless. Bland, bland, bland. For the prices they charge I would expect a MUCH better product. I will not be recommending or returning. read more
