During that appointment I felt very comfortable with the facility and with talking to the owner, Ryan. I decided to sign up for the Semi Private Training. This was the best decision I made for me. I work hard. I do things I did not think I could do. I see positive changes in my body. I have made new friends with both staff and others that I share semi private training sessions with. The training is consistent no matter which trainer you are working with that day. Trainers Ryan, Caleb, Collin, Liz and Marianne have all been great to work with. They check in with you often to make sure you are OK. They work with you on your limitations and help you overcome those limitations. They push you to do better. And they congratulate you on your success. Co-owner Katie Smith offers nutritional support for a total package. I could not be happier with Smitty Built Fitness.

I recently joined Everyday Fitness; I selected them for several reasons:…read moreThey have a wide variety of fitness equipment, much of which appears to be newly installed. The center is clean and well staffed with knowledgeable trainers who are able to offer direction and assistance. The gym has a "clean" scent; it appears to me that they give solid attention to maintenance. Gyms oftentimes appear not to have a scheduled sanitation routine in place and you can sense it as soon as you enter the building; that is not the case here. Kudos to the staff and management. Easy access via their code-reader located at the front desk, where you'll be greeted and acknowledged by name. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

I was delighted to see that they had a stair climber and rowing machine, although the stair climber had one issue. The left handle on the machine has (+) and (-) buttons on it and the (-) button does not work. I discovered this when I was at the height of my climb/speed and tried to slow down and the button wouldn't work. In a panic I just pressed the red 'emergency' stop button until I could acquaint myself with the touchscreen controls. I like that they had the water bottle station and the sweat towels and female hygiene products were a nice touch. There is a lot of signage in this club, which I'm unsure if it's because they have so many issues or they are just trying to stay on top of things. If I had to leave a suggestion I would say buy a squeegee for the showers. There is a sign asking patrons to clean up water that inevitably spills out of the shower (because there is no lip) but the only thing available to clean up is paper towels (which were empty during my visit). Anywho, overall I had a pleasant visit. Bonus points for the photos hanging of the gym/community members running a race together - it showed a real sense of community.

I normally don't leave reviews, but the experience I had with the Redding Anytime Fitness…read moreowner/manager deserves to be known. She has single-handedly turned what should've been a simple Active&Fit membership into a headache built on lies and control. The gym is still publicly listed on the official Active&Fit network, but she decided to "make her own rules" and deny access anyway, claiming I'd used the location too much -- even though I pay through an approved program. That's not policy; that's power-tripping. It's the kind of shady behavior that makes you question how a franchise like this is being run. She knew exactly how much effort it takes to get a workout in -- the pre-workout, the scheduling, the childcare, the balance between work and life -- and still didn't offer a single complimentary day or ounce of decency. She chose to make things harder, not easier. That's not customer service; that's ego. I actually had to call Anytime Fitness corporate myself, and thankfully they were professional enough to refund me the last three months. Still, that doesn't give me my wasted time back. Now I have to start from scratch, hunt for a new gym, and rebuild the consistency I already had -- all because one owner/manager thought she was above the system. If you value honesty, accountability, and fairness, stay far away from this location. It's run by someone who believes rules don't apply to her, and that's not the kind of environment anyone should have to train in.

I give this 5 star review wholeheartedly for a number of reasons:…read more- the training (evaluation and instruction) - the relationship (coaching conversations) - customer centric (while they MUST charge a fee for their membership, I don't feel like I'm just a number or a paycheck to them... They're sincere in serving me) My story: I have prior injuries: severe soft tissue injuries (strain) to my bicep tendons, cervical spine, and lumbar spine. Also lifelong pain in right hip flexor. Scoliosis. Thoracic spine stiffness and pain. And difficulty supporting my own breathing. Cumulatively, I've worked with 5 different physical therapists for a total of 10 months (broken into 2-4 month intervals) for different injuries between 2016 and 2019. None of those experiences really "put me back together." After all of this, I eventually joined Align via their remote coaching membership option. Started in January 2021 and have continued to now, December 2021. When I started, I told my coach "I feel fragile." And I did. I felt weak, imbalanced, had constant pain and felt insecure doing many normal activities, like lifting something overhead to put on top of the fridge. I had pain with walking. And I was only 36. But after years of sedentary jobs, sedentary schooling, and significant injuries at part time jobs during school, my previously athletic self now felt frail and weak. I was devastated. But I had seen the educational material that Align publishes for free on their social media. And something in me knew... If anyone could help me, it was them. So I started. And it has been hard work. I learned quickly that my coach can encourage me and teach me, but ultimately I'm the one who has to do the work. And within several months of following the program and working with my coach, I found I was making more progress than I ever did with the physical therapists. Who are DOCTORS...! I felt stronger and more stable through my whole body than I had in the last 15 years. 15 years! I was hooked by that point. The intrinsic reward of stable joints, feeling enormously more capable, enjoying the aesthetic changes, and also the new found self respect... And the pain was decreasing. Align has been giving me the tools and support I need to build this aspect of my life. They are respectful, honest, encouraging, and ridiculously intelligent. I've been a client for nearly 12 months and hope to continue training with them for years to come. What I'm saying is, if you feel weak or in pain, you should call them. Be ready to work. And yes, if you're doing it remotely, you may need to buy some equipment but so far the recommended equipment has added up to like $120 for me and that is very doable. Uneducated trainers are frankly dangerous and can lead you to injury (happened to me in 2012 at an gym in Washington state... While she was watching!). Don't be fooled by their "less expensive" so called "services.". If you are already in pain or feel unstable in your joints, then what you need is a really intelligent trainer who will help you get better, not expose you to further risk for injuries. Which is why I recommend Align. Sorry this is so long, but I'm a words person...!!! Take it or leave it, this is my experience. - Michelle M
