Very nice people there, but the building is in bad shape! I react to mold and there is mold definitely in that place, I can smell it. Visually see where water leaks have been which is prime for mold growth and mycotoxins and the parking lot needs to be redone. It's in really bad shape inside and outside. Absolutely love this gym, I have been a member since 2017. They have everything you need to get a great workout or just relax in the hot tub, pool or sauna. The equipment is older but very good quality and i have long said they have the BEST hack squat machine in town. Comfortable atmosphere with employees that treat you like family, and everything is clean especially the women's locker room. The tanning beds are always available which i appreciate. If you want a chill workout atmosphere without super crowding this is the gym you want. read more

I went to this gym for aproximately eight months. The ONLY reason I continued to go was because I'm a senior and was using my Silver Sneakers membership. For those who don't know what that is, it's a free membership paid for by most Medicare supplemental insurance programs. Because I was getting it for free, I felt like I shouldn't complain. Here's what I experienced on a continuing basis: The parking lot is a minefield of potholes. I don't mean little dips here and there. There are HUGE chunks of concrete that will knock your car out of alignment if you drive through at more than a crawl. The equipment is OLD and constantly broken/difficult to adjust/waiting, and waiting on repair. There's been a broken sink in the bathroom for months. Yes, there are other sinks, but has the owner never heard of the "Broken Window Theory"? It applies to this entire place. It's always a crap-shoot if there will be wet wipes/papertowels to clean the equipment after use. Never once in the eight months I attended were all cleaning stations stocked at the same time. The mats are disgusting! They are old, pitted, nasty-looking and should have been replaced years ago. It's always fun to get on a treadmill and discover the fan doesn't work, so you move to a different one and the incline doesn't work, so you try a different one and the speed button is jacked-up. It would be great if you could get all the options on one machine! The app they use for patrons to watch tv while on the treadmills, bikes, etc., is pretty much worthless, and no one seems to care about figuring out the issue. Others told me they gave up long ago trying to hear the tv, and just look at the screen to pass the time, or listen to music on their headphones, which is what I do. There are safety issues (which I did bring to managment's attention,) i.e., pieces of wood hanging from the ceiling; a large, metal bucket that contains wipes was sitting on a balcony ledge right over the heads of patrons and it wasn't bolted to anything! One bump from a passerby would have sent it careening down on someone's head; chunks of ceiling have water damage and look like they are going to cave in at the next good rain (they keep buckets sitting around to catch the water;) there is a large fan blowing over the treadmill area that looks as if it hasn't been cleaned in years (makes you wonder what you're breathing in while you workout;) there is a large fan in a smaller workout room that is never on (therefore, it gets very muggy in that room.) The patron has to plug it in, and it's always 50-50 whether the fan is going to work. (I was told to "jiggle" the cord. Yeah, that feels safe!) I have had numerous memberships at gyms in the past 45 years, and this place is definitely the worst. I might not have to pay for my membership, but the owner is certainly getting paid by my insurance company. The only good thing about this gym was Garth, who greets you each time you come and go. You know, this is the second time I've been through a bad situation w these People so I had to do a review. Charlie the owner can be a nice guy most the time but this place just broke it for me today. It's pretty dirty and old and it's just crammed and bad in there. Been going for 6 years since the old owners were there but it's by my house so Its convenient. I got a call which was the first to my knowledge, a month or so ago (July ish) from Brandon the account manager. He said that my account was overdue by months and I was going to be sent to collections if I didn't pay. My wallet was stolen in March right around Covid and the shut downs, which meant this gym closed on us. I never gave it thought but the card I had on file w the gym I cancelled due to it being stolen. They couldn't charge me, I havent gone to the gym for obvious reasons during this Covid epidemic. I have to be careful because of my line of work and my mother in law being terminally ill so I cant risk it for their sake. So gyms closed down in March/April by state order. No need to pay for those months. Gyms re open for a month in May, but I didnt know this gym opened. I was never contacted about it. They said they emailed me and called me multiple times but the email was sent to my husband not me and he didn't relay the message, Brandon told me that my husband should have told me. It's not his job to get the message to me Brandon it's yours. Brandon said they only allow one email per account. Sounds like horse shit. Brandon was super attitude problem, terrible at customer service. I've been a customer for over 6 years at this gym with many owners. I've always paid on time and been a faithful customer paying even when I cant come to the gym for months during the summer due to my line of work (firefighter) so even though year after year I dont step foot in the gym for months I still pay faithfully because I like supporting local small businesses. Brandon was not helpful, made me feel stupid, threatened me with collections for a gym that should have been closed during this time but to my surprise opened illegally in June, and even though the shut downs went back into Effect in July, these guys stayed open. Again I had no idea they were even open. So now I'm being threatened with collections. I've been working very very hard to save to buy my first home for my family, I'm almost there and working on getting a loan so a collections ding would be literally devastating to me right now. I have great credit close to 800s and a great record of on time payments. I was extremely disappointed in Brandon's service today, he left me feeling stuck and cornered with no solution. Brandon calls me back later and said that the owner will wave my past due months about to go to collections by deleting my account entirely (mind you months during Covid when they shouldn't be open Anyways and I was never notified anyways, to my knowledge). Anyways the resolution for me was to corner me by saying they will delete my account and not send me to collections but I had to create a new membership and pay the starting and ending fees for my account that I've already paid on my other account when I signed up with them as a faithful customer years ago. Scared to be sent to collections i paid for a new account, paid all the fees, and have been bamboozled. Probably will seek legal action to look into this further. I will also be going to a different gym after years of being faithful. Brandon sucks, he should not be dealing with people. I have years in the customer service industry and he did not know how to handle this appropriately. Iinstead acted authoritarian and cop like towards me which scared me and gave me more anxiety than I need right now. Fuck you brandon. Don't go to this place guys, seriously. Go to the 3 other gyms that are around the corner and cheaper and way cleaner. Sorry Charlie. read more

I was up in the Shasta area for a quick day trip and had about 2 hours to kill. Because it was colder than the North Pole, I figured I would kill 2 birds with one stone and get a little workout in. Let me begin by saying the only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because the older gentleman working behind the desk (his name slipped my mind) was very friendly. Location- the place didn't even look like a gym from the outside, more like a warehouse. Only due to the fact google maps told me I was there did I know. The majority of the parking is behind the warehouse, but there is a row of sports along the side of the building as you pull in. My friend working behind the counter greeted me and said I had to pay $10 to workout for the day. Understanding, I shuffled over a wrinkled $10 and asked for 2 towels. Locker room- even before I made it inside the locker room, as I am turning the corner, I smelled this horrible, piss-like aroma emitting from the men's locker room. With ever step closer, the smell was more and more potent. Literally had to hold my breath to change into workout clothes. As I go onto the workout floor, I noticed the place had 2 levels. It was more of a let's throw machines, weights, and any other shit we bought off Amazon's "fitness" search in random spots. The machines were old, place was hot, muggy, and just generally dirty. If it wasn't for the nice gentleman at the front, I would not have one good thing to say about this place. If you're looking for a membership, or just a one and done workout, I am sure there are better choices else where. read more

Best gym I've ever been to. I love how the gym has so many rooms and you don't have to go outside like Sun Oaks to go to each class. The gym has many events that unite each and every member. The support and friendships that have developed have really helped me since the loss of my son. I live to look out at the people in the gym and know that at one point I have said hi to each person at least once. Working in the weight room used to intimidate me until I realized the folks are so friendly and love to help. The gym is constantly maintaining the old buikding...even has brand new flat screen TV's. UPDATE: Had a problem with my membership here and Charlie handled it like a true professional. I barely go here, but my wife loves the place. She takes 3 of their classes and she looks forward to it. Especially Pilates on Tuesday. They have a lot of good gym equipment and a few raquetball courts to play on. I reached out on Facebook for some potential racquetball matches and got a pretty decent response from their community. I signed up for the basketball court but there are to many classes that use it. The roof leaked all winter amd was never fixed and there are atleast 7 large mirrors that are broken or cracked in the free weights area. It's a dirty tired gym and it seems as though the owner could care less or just doesn't have the money to maintain it. Save you money and go someplace else unless you want racquetball then it would be worth it. read more

This is where I get my racquetball on. For the unacquainted, RB is a dying racquet sport that peaked back in the 70s and 80s -- along with feathered hair, country rock, Pac-Man, Alf, cassette mix tapes, Miami Vice sport-coats with rolled-up sleeves worn over T-shirts in tropical pastels, and powdered cocaine. RB tournaments were relished for their wild Bacchian excess, featuring bottomless kegs of beer, tequila shots, fat rails (for the record, never my thing), hot women with flexible athletic bodies and equally flexible moral standards, great food, and all-night parties at the hotel or all-night campfires in the club parking lot. It was crazy -- sex in the jacuzzi was not an uncommon occurrence. Today, racquetball is primarily played by old (50+), balding, Advil- and Viagra-popping bastards who were formerly good athletes. And some of us are still decent, but the rare young guy who has somehow decided that RB is his sport -- for whatever his hugely confused and misguided reasons -- can pretty much hang with the old dudes with little more than pure athletic ability. Watching your age cohorts play from outside the court is kind of sad, really. Father Time, that fuck, runs down everyone in the end. Also, it's pretty much the case that women no longer play RB, especially around here. The best female player in the world is from Mexico, and she's freaking adorable. (http://goo.gl/cYOV70) But don't be fooled by the lovely Paola Michelle Longoria López -- if you're looking for a social pastime where you can meet women, forget this sausage-fest of a sport. You might be better off taking up rugby. I don't want to give you the wrong impression. The filthy degenerates on the RB courts are the exception -- most people are here to get heathy. Shasta Athletic Club has friendly staff, nice facilities, a multitude of great fitness programs, plenty of cardio equipment and weights, a coed jacuzzi, a nice lap pool, and all of the other stuff other people need to get fit and limber and swoll. So, I was a member at Elite Fitness. The day they locked their doors on Eureka Way, I drove over to the Hilltop location and cancelled my membership. Those people did not turn the paperwork in and then sold/transfered my membership to Shasta Athletic. The first call made me believe I would be getting two months of erroneous billing refunded.($175) I was misled. After a week of no refund I called and was informed that they were not going to refund ANYTHING as I only cancelled on June 15. Do not join a gym that would be so dishonest and not customer friendly as this place. Greedy greedy greedy. NOT TO BE TRUSTED! If I had WANTED to join this place, I would have. Completely unprofessional transfer of members. I am not the only person they did this to. I believe there should be some kind of legal action that can be taken. read more

With your wallet...We moved from Redding about a year ago. I dropped by the "club" that I had belonged to clear back in old Kangaroo Courts Days and informed the office that we were leaving....I discovered lately that I was still being charged for a locker for over a year since we left. I called and talked with a rep and told there "will be no refunds" because I didn't get it in writing...nobody told me that a year ago when I spoke to a person in the office and verbally told them we were moving. But I can't prove it....even though my use of the club fell to zero of course for over 12 months. I hope they didn't continue charging Senior Sneakers (my wife and I were in that program) for over twelve months. I am very disappointed and out over $100 for my trouble...Stay away from this place...money counts more than people here! read more

I LOVE this gym....Such a win-win under one roof.....The atmosphere, the people, the wide range of amenities and private club space and feel. The jacuzzi is massive and the 65 plus foot heated pool is awesome for any kind of hydrotherapy, if you are looking for a place to do laps or nurse an injury. The yoga classes are great for any beginner, intermediate or advance level due to the outstanding instruction from experienced staff who safely guide you. Wallyball on Friday nights is a favorite for our 2 teens (Play Volleyball inside a Racketball court....VERY fun and great cardio). There's always free fresh coffee or crushed ice water, as well as clean towels available. The annual membership for a family is very reasonable, making it accessible for everyone to try new and different activities. The staff is hard working and pleasant. Love this club. All the members and staff goes above and beyond trying to keep their members happy . They are all super friendly and very personable. There is plenty of equipment and you will rately have to wait around for a machine. The zumba class is great I love audrey and lisa. Super energetic and positive. Tons of great classes here. All the members are like a family. I see so many giving and nice people go here and the owner is hilarious. Staff is fun and dedicated to helping you. Trying to find a suitable gym. Tried out Shasta Fitness Center, They have a woman's weight room that is just for woman but, they allow men to use it. It has weight equipment that is designed for woman that they allow men to use. The men are rude and disgusting. When I asked them to do something about it they said no they wouldn't the owner allows it. Why have a weight room for woman if they allow men to use it. I guess the owner has no respect for woman. The place is dirty and equipment is old. The staff isn't friendly either. The pool is only three lanes and old. I don't recamen this gym. read more

Good club for the money. Racquet ball courts, yoga studio, pool, hot tub, sauna, plus all the equipment. It is a bit dated. The ceiling occasionally was leaking from the rain. The parking lot is small and they do have theft problems when parked in there. They overall keep it very clean. Staff is always friendly. They do have a really bad habit of letting people bring gym bags into the work out area. So you will find bags against the wall, under machines/benches which is unfortunate because they do have big locker rooms. The only other thing is towards the end of my membership they had a gym grunter who joined. I'm talking about the guy who you hear do every rep of every set in the whole gym, from curls to pull ups you knew how many reps he did..... I understand some reasonable grunts if you're working hard but there's a limit it was disturbing and the staff did not ask him to tone down the volume of his grunts. Hope this helps! read more

Won a lifetime membership to this club back when it was fit one. The place is full of broken machines and your feet will rot off from the athletes foot that spawns upon the floors. But hey, free is free. So they send me a letter telling me we should pay to go, because even though they've been honoring the membership, and even explained that they would honor it with the buy out... So... No thanks. Been a member for over 5 years. Be sure and take 2 sets of work out clothes as you never know what the temperature in the gym will be. The weight rooms are good. Don't think the men's sauna or the tile floor from the men's locker room to and around the hot tub has been cleaned since I became a member, getting more disgusting by the day. This gym is pathetic. I have never been treated as horribly as I have been by this staff. Even when I attended there I was treated as if my presence was a nuisance. They are unfriendly, unhelpful, and also lied to me when they said my membership had been canceled. I continued paying for a membership without my knowledge, and it only stopped when I was forced to cancel my card. This company stole $300 from me and is telling me I am shit out of luck, when they are the ones that made the mistake and stole my money. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more

We have been coming here for a few years now and was very satisfied with the wonderful staff. A lot of the staff has changed and the owner was sneaky cheating on my membership price. If I didn't catch it on my checking account I would have never known and he would have gotten away with taking extra money out. They would not refund the money and said they would give me future credit and drafted my account for a lower amount the next month. Then the billing company was consistently calling saying that their was a balance on the account that was due I explained the situation to them and they said okay, they would look into it. Then I would get another call and have to explain it again. Finally I told them that I wanted a call back from a supervisor after they do their research and the calling stopped. The showers are never cleaned and growing mold. After the hassle and dishonesty with the owner my family didn't even feel comfortable going any longer. read more

Had a Gym membership with another gym and somehow they sold my contract to this gym. I tried to cancel my membership with them but they do not do cancellations over the phone, so I had to go in. So I go in....I am glad i was cancelling, this place was packed and loud. I informed the front desk lady why I was there and she paged the membership lady. from here on out nothing was in a timely manner, talk about dragging your feet. When she first came out it was why do you want to cancel we are awesome!! I said sorry I do not wish to go to your gym I wanted something closer to my house and my contract was somehow sold to them. She said I could cancel but would have to pay the next two months...I asked why, she responded that it was in my contract. I told her my contracted ended with the last gym...back and forth for awhile...then she could drop it down to me just paying for this month. Back and forth...back and forth....goes in the back...15min later okay we can do that for you....I just need you to wait while I go and get some papers...wasting more time...15min+. here you go...They do not care about customer service just money...I think the term gym rat came from staff members like this. read more
