My daughter and I had a really bad experience here. Pros: the woman of the two folks running the place is awesome. Cons: wow. I don't know even know how to express how disappointed I am. Situation: there were two kids only were in the whole place - right next to each other. It was very quiet so everyone could hear everything. Also: the place looks nothing like the pictures. It's not high end but it's really easy, affordable, parking, not crowded at all (we're getting to that bit). Soooo: An older man (I assume it's a husband and wife owner) was coaching a young boy in the cage next to us. I made sure to tell my daughter -- who has never batted before but is a Black Diamond skier and a champion gymnast -- to check out how awesome the young boy was. We were giving the kid props, he was awesome, it's what you do. They never said a word to us. They ignored us. Whatever. THEN: The coach/owner's very audible instructions to the boy, right next to my daughter: "Don't swing like a girl." Wait. Whaaat? My girl has overcome things that would bring that guy to his knees. Promptly at closing we cleaned all our stuff up and were done without being asked: Model clients. But: I grew up hearing that crap - you can't play, you're a girl. It literally brought me to tears. What the hell kind of message is that for my daughter and for that young boy? And: you hurt a child's feelings, my child's: Get a clue, words & actions do matter. I talked to the woman. She seemed to kind of maybe to get it sort of? She was nice and said she'd say something to him. But I figured I should express a calm message of support for my girl as well as express my disappointment to the older man doing the coaching -- we could have an exchange, learn from each other, all would be good and we would be repeat customers (because my daughter loved it other than his arcane & hurtful comment). His response? He shrugged and said, "It's just an old saying." He smirked, didn't sit up straight much less stand up to talk to me, had his arms crossed. He was a rude jackass, honestly. He didn't care at all. And that's not a great message for girls or boys, in my opinion. My response: I turned to the little boy and told him he was awesome. I then turned to the owner and explained that girls are 1/2 of your potential business and this is both wrong AND bad business. I also may have told him my daughter is an epic athlete who could literally eat him for lunch. I will advocate for my kid always, as every parent would. We won't ever, ever be back. We will be all over other batting cage businesses. So: They do business with and for boys/men only, apparently? The softball stuff must be there for them to make fun of girls. Gross. : ( read more

Just love this place! A hidden treasure! We tried going to BLD down the street but you always have to call first to see if the cages are open.. Nor Cal.. always! The owner was super cool, we paid $20 for a full hour of hitting. We had our own cage and he showed us how to set it up and work the pitching machine ourselves so we could change from speed to speed with no problems! They even had bats there so my son could choose several bats to hit with. I highly recommend this place to anyone of all ages, even the little ones. Practice makes perfect! Can't wait to try out their new location when it opens. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome this place actually turned out to be. I had called ahead of time to see what their hours and costs were, and the gentleman working was very nice and helpful. When we showed up it was empty and we had the place to ourselves. The owner was awesome. He got us all set up to hit a few rounds and let us have at it. Great customer service and we're looking forward to visiting them once they get relocated to their new spot! read more

Vern and Carol are wonderful. We have been going to Vern for years for private pitching lessons and it is paying off. He is very patient and enjoys watching his students/clients succeed in pitching. Vern will also teach catching position and batting. We enjoy going and it is a pleasure. Unlike most lessons, my daughter never complains to go. She is excited and willing to learn from Vern. It is always clean and both have smiles on their faces when you arrive. They are very pleasant to others coming into the facility when lessons are going. It is a place to go when you want to increase your playing skills and/or to hit a ball to let off steam. It is also fun with a group or family. You get a private lane and your own pitching machine. We highly recommend Nor Cal Complex Batting Cages. They also have equipment or supplies to buy for baseball or softball, so check it out! read more

Wow. Great place to get some quality time in. Owner is a great guy who has a lot of experience and expertise. I would recommend you going here for batting practice, private batting lessons, and I think they even do pitching lessons. It's cool they even have live pitching to hit from if you scheduled it.
