Food which is definitely elevated in both taste and variety from traditional pub food. We arrived at opening on Saturday and were glad we did because the place quickly filled up. We shared a flight of truly special beers (Brick Store has a casque mark certification). It was hard to choose a favorite. There was a 2016 La Trappe Quadrupel- strong and dark but smooth. Next was a 2018 barrel aged barleywine, then a 2021 mixed culture saison- sour and tart but flavorful, last was a 2020 raspberry lambic : acidic and sour but a wonderful sweet taste. It was fermented with wild yeast. The inside has a very quintessential old pub vibe. For lunch we ordered sage pierogis as an appetizer and the arugula salad with a balsamic vinaigrette and a scoop of flavorful chicken salad. Both were yummy. The only drawback was that our server seemed aloof and somewhat distant, which put a slight damper on an otherwise lovely experience.

This cocktail lounge is a cool spot! We had a private party for 20 and reserved the "Tight Squeeze"…read moresection which was behind a very nondescript door (like a speakeasy??) and right next to the bar, with a big center table where most of stood around, and then comfy sofas and chairs on the periphery. Since the other side of the bar was pretty much almost outside with a deck, they had heated lamps throughout. To order food or drinks, we went to the bartender - there is no server walking around to take orders. All of us kept an open tab - and they do automatically charge 20% tip. Our bartender was really good and super nice! And they have Happy Hours specials 4:30-7pm - even Sat/Sun ... so I took advantage of that! MELON BALL - $9 I'd never had a melon ball before and it was really yummy :) DOS CONFIT DUCK TACOS - $10 Two corn tortilla tacos w/ duck confit (birria style), NY sharp cheddar (actually I don't remember having cheese in mine), and mango chutney ... good option if you're looking for a lite bite. I enjoyed mine! LEMON PEPPER FRITES - $6 House-cut fries w/ lemon pepper dusting. The tacos weren't enough, lol - plus the fries were a good portion for sharing. I wish they sprinkled more lemon pepper but it was fine. Next time I'd like to try their Big Mac sliders - those looked really good! The shrimp po' boys looked good too! Looking at the regular menu, the food prices are very reasonable. Overall great spot for groups! They are located at Colony Square - although I knew the restaurant location, I did get disoriented after coming from the parking garage and trying to figure out where was 14th Street but a lovely policeman walked me there. Remember to bring your parking ticket and then ask the hostess to validate your ticket when you leave the restaurant - supposedly it's free up to 2 hours but I stayed there for over 6 hours and didn't have to pay for parking, yay!

As the night went on, we ordered more drinks and our server also ordered more drinks for himself (which we could see him drinking). He was incredibly rude and at times would just disappear. Mind you we were one of the only groups in the restaurant... all other tables had 'reserved' signs on them. For who? I'm not sure. He was obviously very annoyed to have to serve us and made rude comments to a few people in our group. For the food - the served actually told us 'you didn't order that' when we reminded him or 2 items that were forgot. They came out about 15 mins later. The 2 pizzas in my photos were the same pizza... not sure what happened there.

They even had games you could play at the table, which made it a cool spot to hang out. The burgers were honestly top tier. Definitely one of the best things on the menu, and I would absolutely recommend getting a burger here. The empanadas were also delicious, and the wings were bussin' too. The only thing I personally wouldn't recommend is the club sandwich, but overall the food was really solid. Great atmosphere, great service, and definitely a place I'd go back to.

My company had a whole spead of food, but my favorites were definitely the coconut curry and the blackened chicken. The curry had great flavor, a nice kick of heat to it, and was filled with tender vegetables. The blackened chicken was very tender and also had great flavor! Of everything I ate, the steak chimichurri skewers were one of my least favorites. The meat was not tender, and I found myself gnawing on the meat a bit. The alfredo was also alright. It was pretty plain in flavor, but adding the chicken helped a lot. I got the Eastern Promise (mocktail) and it was decent, just not a mocktail that really stood out in my opinion. It'd be better on a hot day, as it's more refreshing. There were a lot of bar games to play downstairs (darts, bocce ball, board games, etc.); and some other games were pay to play (skeeball, pinball). I didn't really play any of them, but it's nice that they offer it! Ormsby's validated our parking for up to 3 hours in the parking garage right next to the Flower Child.

The amount of prep, technique, and patience required for clarified cocktails definitely isn't lost on me, so I naturally gravitated toward those options. MidCity clearly puts serious effort into the details and the server was well-equipped to discuss and help guide me to the right decisions. I tried the Peanut+Butter, Mangorita, and Pear Matcha Fizz. The Mangorita was the standout for me. The rum brought a deep, complex backbone while the mango rounded everything out with just the right sweetness. Super balanced, layered, and honestly just delicious. The Peanut+Butter reminded me a bit of a Boulevardier variation, with the Cynar adding that earthy, slightly bitter edge that kept it from leaning too sweet. Really interesting drink with a lot going on. The Pear Matcha Fizz was refreshing and easy to drink -- definitely tasty -- but felt a little less complex and developed compared to the other two cocktails I had. Overall, very impressed. Creative menu, thoughtful execution, and a clear respect for craft cocktails. Already planning to go back tonight to work through more of the menu. This is a gem on the cocktail scene in Atlanta and deserves the glowing reviews that it has here on Yelp.

I waited for 30 minutes, watching 3 tables open up, and he never mentioned anything. At some point he seated a couple at one of the tables, so I came up to ask why he hasn't called my name yet, to which he moved his arm toward me in a gesture as if he was getting rid of me, saying "you can sit wherever you want to" with an attitude. I requested to speak to a manager, and all the manager did was offer me a table. At this point I was no longer in the mood to relax and enjoy my night, as I didn't feel welcome at this place at all. After a five-minute conversation with the manager and no result, I left. Very disappointed, and not coming back here. This was my first visit to Highland Tap, and I came on a Monday with a friend who visits regularly…read moreand highly recommended it. He specifically wanted to take advantage of their Monday prime rib special, which is just $20. I'm not much of a prime rib person, but I decided to tag along--and I'm really glad I did. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. It wasn't overly loud or crowded, and the décor created a relaxed, comfortable vibe that made for a great dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. My friend ordered the prime rib and requested it Pittsburgh-style seared. I ordered the steak burger cooked medium-well. Unfortunately, my burger came out a little more well-done than I prefer, so it wasn't as juicy as I had hoped. My friend also felt his prime rib was a bit more undercooked than expected. Neither dish was bad, but they both missed the mark just enough that I'd give the food a 3 out of 5. One thing that absolutely deserves a shoutout was the tomato jelly that came with my burger. It was incredible! It tasted like the perfect blend of ketchup and jelly--slightly sweet but not overly sweet, with just the right balance of flavor. I ended up dipping my fries in it, and it was so good that I'd gladly order it again. It was easily one of the most memorable parts of the meal. What truly elevated the experience was the service. Our server, Sam, was outstanding. He was personable, attentive, friendly, and genuinely enjoyable to interact with. Great service can completely change a dining experience, and Sam did exactly that. Overall, while the food had room for improvement, the atmosphere and exceptional customer service more than made up for it. I'd definitely return to Highland Tap, and thanks to Sam's excellent hospitality, I'm giving them a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

The large L-shaped bar has plenty of room to belly up (pro tip: the left side provides the best people watching) and the old beer labels under the bar top are great nostalgia. There are a handful of dining booths in the bar area and eating at the bar is also an option. For the dining room, a wait is common on weekend or special nights. Currently Tuesdays are steak burger night, which is an absolute steal with today's prices. The steaks are also great; not the finest in town, but a solid value for the money (the filet is my go-to). If you aren't up for red meat, the iron skillet fried chicken is a sleeper hit. For drinks they have a solid lineup of beer and cocktails but are famous for their martinis. If you want a memorable, old school night out with friends or a date then check out Highland Tap...you won't be disappointed.
