Wanted to try this place and waited patiently for the food. After about 30 minutes we got our drinks and then waited another hour at which point it was past my son's bedtime. I was so disappointed because no one ever came by to apologize for the delay or offer a refill etc... I left a 5 dollar on the table and left! So awful and it didn't appear to be that busy so I don't know what happened. I might try it again but honestly the customer service wasn't all that. Great little place to eat and the food is delicious. I do have a complaint though. The salad I ordered was tiny and expensive. Although it was very tasty, it was not worth the amount of money they charge. Service was nice and they were so kind to my toddler. My husband ordered some kind of platter and they loaded it up! Wasn't super happy with this place. Got the fort mill platter and feel like I didn't get enough meat. They also didn't have regular fries. Pretty disappointed to say the least. Between the food and the service this place is way overrated. I went online to check out the menu and noticed the menu online in cheaper then the one at the restaurant. We had the twice baked jalapeños. We were told 4 come in one order but it ended up being 4 halves of the smallest jalapeños you can find. Very bland and didn't taste like much. We also had the St. Louis ribs which were very difficult and chewy to eat. If your looking for ribs that fall off the bone these are not for you. I myself had 2 meat platter for $19 which consisted of about 2oz of brisket and 3 oz of Luke warm pulled pork. Flavor was good but cold and left hungry. I am a big fan of "value". Went for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and after a minimal wait got a table. Waitress was very attentive. Drinks came quickly followed by Mac n' cheese appetizer in a sizzling skillet. My son had the Salmon and I had the Fort Mill plate with Brisket/ Sweet Potato casserole. All food was delicious and in a nice atmosphere. Not the biggest place but you will understand why there is a crowd waiting at the door everytime you pass this place! Can't wait to return to try something more off an extensive menu. Went there for the first time last night (January 12) and like the atmosphere and decor. We waited close to 2 hours for a 4-top table. It was very busy so the wait was somewhat expected. We sat at the bar for the entire time and it was enjoyable; however, we ordered hush puppies and edamame as appetizers at the bar and it took over 30 minutes for them to arrive. No apology for the excessive wait. When we were finally seated, we ordered quickly since it was almost 9:00 and we ordered 2 pork sandwiches and 2 salads. Pretty simple and basic things and again it took over 30 minutes to receive our food. Again, no apology for the excessive delay and the rush had certainly slowed down so there was no real reason for such a delay. I've heard of this place for a while. So when I heard it was to coming Ft. Mill I was overjoyed. I've had friends rave about the skillet Mac-n-Cheese; so I had to try it. I wish I could say it was mind blowing; the dish had great texture and a nice sizzle but utterly flavorless and bland. I've had better out of a box. I also tried their Twice Baked Jalapenos with chorizo...now that was Mind blowing delicious. I will be trying their entrees next time. read more

We had Tyler as our server who was AWESOME sand super attentive and all around a great guy so ask for him if you can too :) Y'all, they have the BEST service, food, and niceeee portions. My friends and I were anxious to try this restaurant, so we had a girl's night out. The staff are very nice and welcoming. The atmosphere was nice with a cross between a rustic and nostalgic feel. Very clean. Service was good. Our disappointment came with the food. My pork platter was quite dry. The side of baked beans were very liquidy and soupy and no flavor. Another side of mac-n-cheese lacked complete flavor as well. We were also surprised that a BBQ place only offers sweet potatoes rather than baked potatoes or both. My friend's wings were dried out as well. The mixed drinks were great. I get the purpose of paper straws, but they definitely destroy the taste of the drink. Perhaps a different manufacturer or straw option. Definitely need to get rid of the ones being used. Hopefully, they will periodically review their menu and make modifications for their customers. We want to see them succeed. Of course, this is only our opinion based on one visit. read more

We decided to grab a quick bite to eat during the recent Octoberfest event in Fort Mill. Surprisingly enough there wasn't much of a wait for a table and we were seated within about 10mins of arrival. Our waitress was right over for our drink order and back in no time for food order. The location always has a decent selection of local brews and I enjoyed a sycamore mountain candy(yum!). Our food order was out about 10 mins later, which was good because the kids don't typically enjoy waiting too long to eat! They both got the kids ribs, which they devoured with the help of some of the Queen City bbq sauce. Our meals came out with decent temps and were ready to eat upon arrival. The entire staff was great, from the GM who interacted with our kids and came and checked on our food, along with the waitress as well who checked on us a few times. All in all we had a decent experience here. We have visited about 3-4 times now and the food and service is good enough to have us back again. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars here was the pricing. It is a bit expensive for meals and sides for a family 5. read more

We had been enjoying this restaurant until our last trip. I had the smoked half chicken and was served a black piece of dead meat. Awful. It tasted like it had been smoked for a week. So dry it was like eating sand. I mentioned it to the server, she acknowledged it and then went about her business. Usually they are very contentious and on top of things. We went here after seeing it on Diners Drive ins and Dives! We were greeted and seated right away by a friendly hostess and spunky waitress. We orders some cocktails off the menu and although they weren't correct, they were still pretty good (not a big deal) the pulled pork was amazing especially after added to my side of Mac n cheese !! My boyfriend had the sweet potato casserole and I had died and gone to heaven after 1 bite ! The home made Cesar salad wasn't a hit, but our awesome waitress saw I didn't enjoy it and removed it from the bill without us even asking! I can't wait to go back! read more

We just ate here for the first time tonight and are disappointed that we have not been here sooner. I really love the food, the environment and the drinks. On Saturday nights they have late night dj with music and it's fun. The only part that is bothersome is that they don't take care of their customers. Since the Improper Pig had just open, we decide to give it a try. It was very busy when we arrived and we were told there would be a 20 minute wait for a table. Luckily, we were able to snag 2 seats at the bar and ate there instead. We each ordered a glass of red wine, I couldn't tell you which one but it was pretty good. My mom ordered the beet salad with pulled pork and I had the Fort Mill plate with pulled pork, the smoked tofu, collards and sweet potato fries. The food was great! The beet salad was awesome and the smoked tofu was surprisingly wonderful. Don't get me wrong, the pork was great but I really loved the smoked tofu. Glad there is another restaurant choice in Fort Mill. We tried the Improper Pig on a recommendation. Love the decor! Our waitress, Brooke, did a good job. We we underwhelmed by both the barbeque and the pulled chicken; both were dry and my husbands bun wasn't real fresh tasting. Now the sides were excellent! My husband really liked the sweet potato casserole, and I loved the collards and Jalepeno grits! Kudos there! The portions weren't real generous, and for the price, it would be nice to have some complimentary hushpuppies or some bread. read more
