Small ice cream shop attached to a seafood restaurant. We actually ate elsewhere and just popped in for an ice cream. They have the Hershey ice cream and about 32 flavors to pick from. This is also a gift shop as well with lots of cute gifts to purchase. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and she patiently waited for us to decide what flavor we wanted. I was curious to see what a Southern Ice Cream Parlor looked like inside. And it was everything I imagined it would be. A few older people sitting around chatting. Rows and rows of old school Ice Cream flavors. Fresh made Cakes, Cookies and Pies. A friendly cashier with the biggest smile! I didn't really want Ice Cream, I went in looking for Pecan Pie. But I found something better than the Pecan Pie. They had these Pecan Cheesecake chews. OMG, when I tell you I got super excited, that would be an under statement. I love easy made desert. I bought 3 bars because I had to eat one before I left the parlor and I wanted to bring some back home. In all, I LOVED the experience I had when I went in. I had stopped for gas on my way back from Charleston to Raleigh and noticed their sign. On closer inspection I saw that they carried Hersey ice cream , OH BOY do they!! They must have 60 different flavors! They offer cones, cups, sundaes , and shakes. The young lady that took care of me , Bailey I believe , made me THE MOST AMAZING sundae!!!!! Hun, thank you for making a weary traveler so happy!! She is absolutely delightful, and so very sweet! She represents exactly what I pray this generation will be! We're camping at Santee State Park and the hubby wanted ice cream. We've passed by this little place coming off the interstate so we figured we'd give it a try. This is a pretty standard little ice cream shop. They serve all Hersheys's ice cream (quite a few flavors). It's later in the day so not many pastries or cakes left. Great customer service. They will let you sample any ice cream you like. The brand is Hershey's and it is pretty good. I had banana pudding and other Flavors that were tried were raspberry, key lime pie, caramel cheesecake Cookie Monster and cotton candy. There were no complaints. They also sell pecan pies and cupcakes as well as slices of cake. All cakes and pies are baked in house. We tried the pecan pie. It was good, not too sweet as some pecan pies tend to be. Self proclaimed as the "Best of the South" and they aren't kidding. Just stop in, gas up at the filling station and go get some pie. If you are just passing through the south, know that the ladies represent the best of southern charm and hospitality. They are smiling, pleasant and so very nice. Not only that, these ladies bake up a storm and are offering some of the best cakes and pies around, all at very reasonable prices. There are no rip-offs here and everything is home made and delicious. Cake is sold by the slice and you can enjoy things for $1 to $2 and not feel bad about the price or the calories. Classics like coconut lemon, red velvet and carrot cake are just a few of the pieces of heaven that are on the counter. The pecan pie is the best around with a tasty interior and solid pecan topping and one of the best pie crusts I have ever eaten. Because of how good everything smelled, we could not make it to the car and had to stop outside the door at one of the open tables they had in front to jump into our treats. Second time visiting here on our way south. 1st time was pleased to see that they sold Hershey's ice cream as we had it a few years ago near Pinehurst. They have a lot of flavors. This time I had the key lime. Excellent. The only negative on both visits is that the ice cream seems like it isn't kept cold enough because it is pretty soft. The servers are very pleasant. The location also has bakery items but we have not tried them. If you like ice cream, get off 95 at the Santee exit. read more
