Dark chocolate Carmel turtle. Sorry, I don't have a picture of the white chocolate my husband ate it before I could take a picture.

OMG! This is a must stop if you want some great sweet treats. The first thing I noticed as I walked in to the store was Carmel turtles on the counter. The white chocolate caramel turtle was the best ever my husband says, I also agree! They have a great assortment of home made pralines. They were also outstanding! I got the original and it melts in your mouth. I also got the maple and it's so good. Great customer service as well!

After reading the rave reviews, we had to get off 95 and have a look. Place is pretty nifty. Your one stop shop for whatever you wanna take home from the south. You can even fill up your tank while you have a look about. Homemade pralines, fudge and turtles! Lots of souvenirs, fireworks, locally made sauces, pickled stuff and peanuts. You can even get magnets from other states. lol It's worth the stop especially for the candy samples! They have beer and wine, soft drinks and hot drinks. Real friendly folk too.

Decent gas station, but cash price is lower than credit price. Close to interstate. Clean and safe.

Whatever you need, or don't, Smith's has it!

Who would have ever thought I'd be reviewing a gas station?! But, once I walked in, saw all of the South Carolina paraphernalia for sale, sampled some amazing and very varied in flavor fudge, and then bought probably the best pecan pie I've ever had, I decided that I could not keep this to myself. Follow the gigunda billboard directions on I-95, going north or south, and pull off to stop in at Smith's for almost everything "country", friendly folks, freshly made fudge (the gas station owner makes it on site!), maybe even a pie (the bakery that is attached to the gas station creates these pies!), and whatever kitschy, or unique items you find on the very full shelves here.

We thought we'd stop here when we were out and about checking out the area. The store also had a gift shop. We purchased a nice floor mat for in front of our camper door and I got a t-shirt. We purchased the fudge sampler and it did not disappoint. It was very good and rich. Yum!! The folks at the counter were also very friendly. The gentleman let us know they also ship their fudge.

Absolutely friendly people, clean store, AMAZING fudge. Churro fudge is absurdly good. Just a great experience.

There wasn't as many snack options I hoped or compared to as other gas stations. I did get a drink and a bag of Chex mix. At the register, there is a sign stating that there would be a charge of $0.60 for credit/debit transactions under $7, which I think it high. I've seen $5 at some places but never $7. What I ordered was under $7, so I had to pay that $0.60 charge lol. Cashier was friendly.

What really struck me was the service. My spouse stayed behind to pay while I took our child to the car to get buckled in. Someone came up behind me yelling and startled me. It was a store employee angrily saying something about a receipt. Long story short, my spouse put his card in at the register, the employee handed him a receipt, and he left. After looking at it, it wasn't even our receipt. My spouse went back inside and attempted to pay again, using two different cards, but they wouldn't work, even though he had just used one outside at the gas pump. He paid cash to settle the transaction. However much of an inconvenience that was, it wasn't the problem. The problem was the employee's behavior. He was angrily yelling and behaving in such a way as to imply we were trying to steal from the store, when in actuality, it was a complete misunderstanding. The employee didn't verify the transaction cleared, nor did he verify the receipt he handed out was the correct receipt. On the other end, we should have also verified the receipt we were given was the correct receipt. IMHO, this behavior isn't acceptable and this store is definitely not somewhere we would stop again.
