Perfect place to introduce yourself to Southern food if your not from the South. Also some of the best ribs and chicken I've ever had. I Loved it and would recommend it to anyone passing through the area. So I wrote this review back in 2015. I still think about the food I had from this place. When I was there is was a roadside shack but very clean. And the service was great. I need an excuse to drive 17 hours to eat it again. read more

Anytime we might be in the area, we try to stop and grab something to eat here. You have to try the pit master sandwich with smoked turkey. It is sooo good! The jalepeno bun is fantastic. I got the loaded mashed potatoes and they did not disappoint. read more

Got my lunch here at the Hut today. I ordered the sliced brisket sandwich. The meat was sliced more thinly than I'm used to and it was a bit dry. The sauce, which was served on the side, helped. The sauce was good, but thick and room temperature; I wondered if they made it or bought it. Sandwich also came with pickles and onions and a bag of Lays Potato Chips. Overall, it was good. With a cup of (unsweet) iced tea, the price was $9 and some change. (The tea was excellent!) I walked up to their take away window instead of using the drive through. Service was friendly, but the gal who took my order must've forgotten about me because I waited a while to receive my food, which was handed to me through the window by another employee who just happened to notice me and amicably asked what I was waiting for. Was it the best BBQ experience to be had in Texas, no. But it was good. So yes, I'd eat here again. read more

My husband and I took our friends there when they we're stopping by on a long road trip, they still talk about how good that place is and that they want to go back. I've never had anything there that was bad. Delicious food! On our way home in the middle of an 8-hour drive from New Orleans, we dropped in and got The Pitmaster sandwiches for lunch. One turkey and one pulled pork. Wish I could've tried them all. I bet the beef ones are amazing too. Tried both kinds of beans for sides and they were good. We could only eat half the giant sandwich and saved the other half for dinner! The cashier was extremely polite and friendly. If you're just passing through town like we were, don't hesitate to stop here for a quick bite. The only thing I wish is that they had tables to eat at. It's strictly a carry-out place. We picked The Hut to try bbq while passing through eastern Texas. We pulled up to the window as was greeted by a young lady who was on the phone yelling at someone. That should have been our cue to exit. 3 out of 4 orders ended up being incorrect- no customizations- we ordered straight off the menu. After leaving and checking our receipt we were charged a different price than what was listed. As for the sandwiches, they were good. The (lack of) service just left us disappointed. read more

Love this little gem! We always make a stop when we're passing through to Lake Charles. Food is good and very reasonably priced. This place has some of my favorite crawfish in the area. Seasoned well and they don't weigh your bag down with a bunch of claws and empty heads. Put this on the to-do list of any BBQ lover around. Stopped here today from a recommendation from a woman at the Texas state rest stop. We asked her where the best local Bbq was...she told us hands down it was The Hut. She suggested the Pitmaster bbq sandwich which was absolutely delicious. We also had the coleslaw which was perfect and the potato salad which is the mustard style and my preference. The only challenge with the Hut is the access of it. You have to get your food in the drive thru instead of sitting to eat. But the food is worth it! read more

I loved this place. I had the boudin and crawfish. Both were cooked to perfection! There was so much crawfish I can honestly say that I couldn't eat it all. The service was great, but the only down side is that the restaurant is exactly what the name is - a hut. You have to take your food to go. That ended up working out ok but I might be more inclined to return more frequently if I could sit down to eat my meal. I do have to brag on the service.... I had mentioned that a friend wanted me to eat at another BBQ joint in town for breakfast. Encouraging the friendly competition, the waitress gave me 2 ribs for free to compare. Just picked up 10 lbs to eat at the boat races and these bugs were cooked perfectly! Not too spicy but excellent taste and texture and only one of two straight tails in the whole mix. Love their pulled pork sandwiches topped with pickles and coleslaw oh my! Great place to pick up food when you aren't in the mood to cook dinner.
