I walked in here visiting from out of town. The staff was so friendly and let me glance at the buffet before sitting down. I decided to order off of the menu. My waitress was so sweet and helpful. She mentioned that they could take the pistolette filling and put it on my baked potato. Oh my goodness it was so good. I ordered a piece of chocolate marble cake with peanut butter frosting and it tasted so homemade like someone made it for a church bake sale. I liked how all of the customers went so friendly and saying hello to everyone. Made me wish I lived in the area as they made the ambiance so cozy and welcoming. read more

Hollier's Cajun Kitchen - Baked potato with pistolette filling on it. This is not on the menu but recommended by my amazing waitress. - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Sulphur, Louisiana

While traveling through Sulphur during the lunch hour we decided to try out Hollier's Cajun Kitchen for some local flavor, the parking lot was mostly filled but we were able to get seated without a wait. After viewing the lunch buffet we decided to give it a try to save time. It seemed today most of the customers were locals comprised of contractors and maybe plant workers, there was no doubt this place is a local favorite. After placing our drink orders we proceeded to the steam table and grabbed our plates, most of the food seemed fresh and definitely hot, the kitchen was in the process of refilling items as we served ourselves. Honestly there was nothing bad here but after trying a few bites I was reaching for the hot sauce to jazz things up a bit. I thought the prices were a little steep considering the portions we chose, if you're one that will make multiple trips to the food bar it's probably a good deal. We felt the food quality and preparation was just okay, it's likely we would not return or travel out of our way to dine here again. The staff was very friendly and accommodating it's just not the type of place we frequent... read more

Hollier's is the go to for a home cooked meal. The staff are very pleasant and will pamper you until you're had enough. The place had a rustic feel offering fried, grilled and baked meats, variety of veggies,, and soda pop & tea. Plenty of parking. Accessible entrance. read more

Good food and good service makes you feel like a local even when you're not. Menu has lots of choices but it seems the most popular is the great buffet options during the week. Each day is different with the exception of Fri/Sat both offering seafood. I haven't tried all the other nights but the seafood buffet is worth an encore lol Crawfish (in season) is very good and the grilled fish, étouffée and stuffed spuds are all solid choices! Seems like a local institution and trust me, you wanna get in on that read more

Always good service and great food! Love the people and the options! One of my favorite places to eat! Even 3 hours from here. So unique! Love the culture of this place and how pleasant it always is. read more

Food was great. Liked the sausage and bought some to take home. Great choices on buffet.

Mehhh. Grew up eating this style food, daily. Nothing special to me. Friendly service. Comfortable like home.

Food wasn't what I thought, buffet had nothing fresh on it. Service was okay. Ambiance was what we expected. Just very disappointed about the amount they charged for that buffet and the food looked like it been there all day and haven't been changed out. Won't be back read more

07.23.25 stopped by here for lunch while visiting lake charles, wanted to see what the local diners are like. BIGGG MISTAKE. on this day they had bbq buffet, they says their buffet varies day to day, and on this day, it just so happen to be bbq. for me was a bad decision. afterwards on the way to L'Auberge, my stomach was churning,... once i got to L'Auberge, had to immediately go to the restroom, then about less than 30 minutes later, had to go again, i felt like i was dying, drank a sprite and started to feel a lil better, once i got back home to houston however, my stomach was acting up again,... never going back to this place ever again. read more

Hollier's Cajun kitchen has the staples in Louisiana Cajun food. From jambalaya, boudin, gumbo, fried chicken and more. I can go on. But if you eat here you will want to try most of the items. You can order from the menu but I suggest the buffet. It does have a good amount of items. The service is just there to fill your drinks if you choose the buffet. The place is a quiet wholesome place in a small town. These are the places that Yelp helps and creates. They can grow to more that just the people who live there. The food and people deserve it. read more

My parents got the Buffett food was ok, seemed like it was out for to long. I ordered the Shrimp Gumbo, shrimp was the size of a dime and it didn't taste good at all. However, my brother got the shrimp Poboy and that was delicious! So get something they have to cook fresh and you're golden. Service was good. The ambiance felt like a cafeteria but nothing bad but nothing outstanding. Would I return? No I'm sorry read more

Was staying in hackberry for fishing trip, came in town to score food and found this place on yelp and glad I did! They had an all you can eat buffet with fried shrimp, boiled shrimp, fried fish, baked fish, fried frog legs, dessert etc. I think it's only on weekends idk tho. Price was really reasonable for the food you get. Service was good and so was the quality of food. Very very impressed with the place and hope to get back that way soon! It was a big place with banquet rooms if you have a party. Will be back every time I go to hackberry! Didn't get many pics bc I was too busy pounding the frog legs and boiled shrimp read more

In town fishing and wanted some Cajun food to start the trip. It did not disappoint. We got the mild Boursin to start. It is mild but still has a tiny kick. Then got the Buffet. They were switching to the dinner Buffet at 2pm. It seemed to be about the same foods. Good variety and good flavor. Nothing seemed to have mild flavor, everything had really good flavor. And they do have dessert with the Buffet. Our waitress was very nice and attentive as well as the whole staff. It's worth a try! read more

Ordered a hamburger steak, I have Ordered it before and it was great, but now it's just a heated up frozen piece of meat that taste just like those little frozen Salisbury steaks. I could have saved 10 dollars and a trip to town. read more

Let me start with the buffet was ok, not great. The gumbo roux was a little too dark for my taste and had a slight burned flavor. The cocktail shrimp were floating in water, so I passed. The fried fish was ok, tasted like Swai, which is a Vietnamese catfish. There menu just states fried fish and not the place it came from. The fried shrimp were ok. Frog legs were good and fresh. The other seafood buffet in town closed and it's hard to believe this one is still open. I thought the other was better. I would work on the gumbo roux. Just country vegetables on the buffet and most were just plain that seemed out of a can. For $22.00 a person I expected more. Probably will pass on another try here. read more

Stopped by for lunch because I was craving seafood. I found this on yelp and the reviews seemed good. I ordered the seafood platter and it was partially okay. Batter was decent, however there was no seasoning. That blew me away. I drove from Texas to Louisiana and for the 1st time I picked the worst seafood restaurant. My waitress started off real good then disappeared, I had to ask another waiter for a refill. Did I mention they put frog legs on my platter and no shrimp. Didn't eat those and neither did the cats. Hmm 10 minutes after leaving I had to go potty. That food went right through me. Stomach started grumbling again. Had to stop again. Got home barely to go again. I promise you I had to have lost 5lbs. Best place to go if you want to diet. read more

Too salty. In past ate etouffee on regular basis but in last couple years have gone way over board on salt. Try every few months to check for improvement but none noted to date. Fried shrimp is usually good. read more

I stopped by Hollier's on my way from New Orleans to Houston. I was looking for authentic Cajun food, and I could not have been happier with my choice. When we pulled up for lunch, the parking lot was full so we thought we'd made a good choice. They have a menu with a lot to choose from but we chose the buffet. It's not a huge buffet, but the selections were plentiful; the food was fresh, hot, flavorful and delicious! The wait staff checked on us, mostly to refill drinks and asked if we needed anything. We got a great food at a great price! If you're thinking about going ... just go! read more

Great food! On Wednesdays they have a "big meat Wednesday" as they call it, lol. It's a LOT of meat on buffet, available for lunch and supper, also for take out. My husband loves this, he gets all barbecue meat. The seafood is great too. Try the crawfish ettoufe, the crawfish pistolettes, or the boudin balls, they are all awesome! read more

A must stop for great Cajun food(except for the gumbo), it was so good that we went back the next night. The fried catfish and shrimp platter was worth the price($16). They had a buffet that looked good but I could not eat enough to justify the price(21.95). Very Good! read more

Their seafood is imported. All except the shrimp. Fish comes from Vietnam. Will not be back.

Good service, waitress was fine. Food was bland, cold, and needed spicing. I had to pay $1.50 for bottle water because the water main down the street was broken. That should not have been on me. I'll never stop here again. read more

First time here and it did not disappoint! The seafood buffet looked amazing, however we weren't in the mood for seafood. We started with fried pickles. Yum! Then I got the burger which was so good! And my husband got the chicken fried steak sandwich with a side of white gravy that he put on top of the steak. He loved it. Our waitress was so nice and friendly. She was so sweet to our son who kept insisting on ketchup. If you are in Sulphur, I definitely recommend this restaurant. I wish they had one in Moss Bluff! read more

Nice little treat to find! We came in at the end of the night and the staff was super friendly and not trying to rush us out like some can. All the food looked amazing. Large portions and the quality of it all was above expectations. The owner, I'm assuming, checked with tables about their experience. Super nice folks! We had the fried fish, shrimp, and grilled shrimp. A mountain of onion rings and baked potato was yummy! read more

Food is always good. Have to get to go order(cold) if pistolettes to bring home. These are the best in the area.

Well it's been many years since I have had dinner at Hollier's. We arrived around 4:10-4:15 we were immediately sat at a table in the back section. Note we were the only people in that section when we arrived. We ordered appetizers, around 4:20 and at about 4:30 we placed our entree orders. Unfortunately, it seemed as if every waitress had a chip on her shoulder tonight. The thin woman with dark hair and glasses seemed aggravated when a customer asked what was on the buffet, yet had no issue toting a toddler on her hip the entire time we were there which turned into almost 2 hours. My husband ordered steak and shrimp, I ordered fish and shrimp. You will see on our ticket that we were given the senior citizen discount for the horrible service. Instead of a manager and I am assuming it was the toddler toting woman with the walk-in talkie coming and apologizing for waiting about an 1 1/2 for a steak that arrived cold and about 1/4 inch thick and steak and shrimp they could have clearly gathered from the buffet, after waiting 1 1/2 for our food and salads she graciously approved the senior citizen discount for our waitress. I have attached the receipt which clearly shows we ordered at 4:29 pm not what the waitress wrote. Because ordering at 4:57 would have to mean we were there almost 45!minutes before she took our order. read more

This was our first time here as we are not locals. I will begin with the service. Shelly was our waitress. It was her 2nd day but she was great and friendly. It was truly a pleasure to have her as our waitress. If she didn't know an answer to our questions she was happy to find out for us. The other waitstaff was friendly and helpful also. When they weren't busy waiting on tables they were busy cleaning and taking care of things. NOT playing on their phones and treating you like an inconvenience. My meal came with a salad, gumbo and entree. It was properly served like a fine dining establishment. The salad came out. After we were done the gumbo was served. Then our entree was served a little bit after that. Our salad was served and we actually got to finish it before they brought out the gumbo. Then our entree was properly spaced out from our salads and gumbo. It really displeases me when I pay for a meal that has multiple courses and it's served all at once. The staff and cooks have a very good understanding of timing food. Now onto the food. I ordered the seafood platter with a side salad and onion rings. The salad was simple but the veggies were fresh. The croutons were really good crunchy and garlicky. The ranch dressing was a little thin to me but it wasn't overly sweet as many places are. The onion rings were great. I prefer my onion rings on the thin side and these were perfect. The batter had a great taste and stayed on the onion ring instead of crumbling off. The fried shrimp were cooked perfectly! They were plump and juicy while the crust was crunchy and not caky. The fish were cut and cooked just to my liking. It was white and flaky with a breading not to thick. The frog legs were the best I have had in over 15 years!!! They were meaty and had a clean flavor, not fishy. The hush puppies were really good as well. The outside was crunchy with a moist, crumbly inside. Really, really good. Wish they gave me more than 2 on my plate. For the parts I could do without. These are the reason I did not give a 5 star review. The crab cake was nice and crispy on the outside and had lots of crab in it. Sadly it had lots of other things in it which made it too busy on the pallet. Also the filling was too gummy for me. The seafood gumbo was missing flavor in the broth. It had enough heat but was missing the extra notes of goodness. It was made with salad shrimp which was sad and left them over done. The roll they serve was terrible. One bite was it and I'm a bread eater. They should just skip the roll and give extra hush puppies. I will definitely be back again next time we are in town. If you are in the area I would strongly recommend this place. read more
