The atmosphere at Golden Hooks feels a little shady, with bright florescent lights in the dining area, and staff that is friendly but not at all talkative. The floors feel sticky as were most of the table surfaces. A banner outside proclaims the restaurant serves "Deep Fried Food." You will get your money's worth here. The food was wonderful and the portions are generous. The prices are also quite reasonable. I ordered a wing and gizzards combo, which came with fries and a drink. The food came out hot but was served in a Styrofoam takeout box. There are many basic condiments to choose from. Drinks come from a soda fountain which many selections were "out of order." They serve Coca Cola products. I would go back to Golden Hooks for a hearty indulgence. read more

Nothing really remarkable about this place. Not terrible however not really good. Shrimp and wings were bland and appeared to be pre breaded/battered. I may try the gizzards and livers another time but I'm in no hurry to return. Staff was ok. Friendly and polite. The restaurant was also pretty clean. read more

Didn't hate it but didn't really care for it either. Once I salted my food it tasted pretty good. Didn't like the dine in atmosphere. No salt pepper shakers. I finally found the napkins. The plastic silverware set in plastic wrap only had one VETY VERY thin napkin in it. This is fried food folks. Napkins are needed. Staff was friendly. You can call your order in ahead. This place has awesome buffalo wings. Order them twice fried for that perfect texture. Everything we have tried here has been fantastic, hot, quick, generous portions and very reasonable priced. We primarily come for take out, and I'm a bit surprised at people complaining about the dining atmosphere at a fry shop. Puts Quaker Steak wings to shame if you can manage with out the 40 different sauce selections. read more

Such large portions make the pick 3 combo one of the cheapest takeout meals for my family. The catfish and shrimp are favorites in our home. The catfish is always flaky and moist, with a hint of lemon and without any of the "fishy" flavor. The shrimp are seasoned and breaded to perfection. We also love the fried okra, instead of the fries, as a side. We've never been inside; the drive-thru window is so convenient. read more

Charged me wrong price on my credit card. I bought $9.35 meal but got charged for $13.22. With tax it should be $10.30. I guess they charged me $2.90 for an extra box. Please ask for receipt or check your credit card statement. read more

first time to golden hook. we work out her in sulfer. we live in Beaumont texas. we are so use to drive thru seafood and chicken resturants. I got the fish and shrimp. elated to know for 9.35 I got 8 shrimp and 2 pieces of fish.the fish was terrific! the shrimp almost burned but it was good they were using old grease.my husband ordered chichen wings. found out they were cooked in seafood grease. the wings looked like a very small bird wing. this is Louisiana no seasoning! fries cooked in old grease to dark. no bread no side salad. they will not be in business long. further more lent is next week i.m a catholic I cant eat seafood cooked in used grease from meat. but of course you might not know the true religion of Louisiana. read more
