The food is good and a staple for the students at Trinity and UCD. The pitcher of margaritas make it fun and easy going. When my son was a teen I wish I knew about his place. The crazy name caught my attention. Food was full of flavor. I had a burrito. I'm planning to return to this restaurant in the future. There are actually many restaurants in Dublin that say they have Mexican food. This is the only one I ate at so I cannot compare. My burrito was grilled and it was delicious. It was around 8.30 pm and it felt like this could be the fastest sit down place to get dinner. All 3 of us entered hungry. Feels like a very Small place, but got to know later there was a group of 16 sitting inside. Anyway - with dinner ordered, we started the infinite wait. They would not tell us if the food is going to be delayed. But in 45 min, everybody in our party started getting super hungry. We wondered if we should leave and quickly grab anything else that could take another 10/15 min. Nobody at the restaurant is trying to ensure we understand the delay. They are not throwing in any side items just because their chef is delayed. We had ordered only dinner items and had not ordered any munching items thinking this could be fast. One of us got up who was super hungry and went outside as sitting at the table became unbearable. This is the worst situation if you enter a restaurant hungry, thinking it will be quick, you don't order munching items, the food is delayed and there is no idea how long it will take and the owner is not communicating or throwing in munchies to keep you from going crazy. Finally we asked how long will it be just for 4 plates. After 5 min we got to know that they are delayed because of a large group. Finally food was delivered, no apologies for being late, exactly after 1 hour. One item was supposed to have something extra bit did not have it. Few other items had to be asked after food was delivered. 1 hour for 4 items - without great quality or apology or any free stuff. They never came back to ask if we need anything else, even water. We had to ask for water too. Would never go back to this place - especially if you are hungry. Don't think Mexican food is just putting pre-cooked items together inside a wrapping. It has a process but this was the first time in Dublin to wait for 1 hour for just 4 plates. read more

This is not typical Mexican food. This is an Indian man version of Mexican food, and it's fabulous. I had the enchiladas with Verde salsa. Nice slow burn with loads of flavor. They have spicey salsa too. It's definitely spicy but flavorful. I need 2 beers to put out the fire on my lips. I loved it and would definitely come back. I went in there to see if it is a 'workable" Mexican go to restaurant in Dublin since I moved here. Answer is: NOPE. The table service was horrendous. Like it took forever to get a margarita (it was good). I think it's a family business and the mother finally saw me sitting there for a long time and told one of the sons (?) to wait on my table. The chips and salsa are pita chips (not kidding) and some weird sauces that were not Mexican. The enchiladas were some loosely wrapped stuff with a tomato sauce and no cheese on top. Like, I even mentioned this and he said these are traditional enchiladas and they aren't made with cheese (but it said cheese on the menu). I grew up eating Mexican all my life and the end, the Enchiladas were not good. I still have no idea wht "soya chilli sauce" is and pretty sure I don't want to know. Nothing here was very Mexican. My friend likes chimichangas, this place does them, so off we go for a try. We both tried the chimichangas and while it was slightly different than I was expecting, it was delicious. (I've previously had in america where they were smaller, but you got a couple of them and there was more sauce on them.) I could have asked for more sauce, but I was content with what I had so I didn't. I got the chipolte fries. Guys, I'm STILL thinking about them. They were divine. You know when you'd like to order more food, but you don't wanna look like a total pig so you just suffer and tell yourself you're coming back next week?? Mexican food in Ireland! Gotta love it! Well, we are from SoCal, so that is my starting point. Right on the Mexican border. Great Mexican food there of course. The Hungry Mexican is a good place, with great staff, casual atmosphere, and quality ingredients. Our experience was hampered a bit because they asked my wife what kind of tortillas she wanted and she said "flour". So, everything on the table was thick flour tortillas. I didn't think fast enough to catch that until everything was served. Even chips were flour chips. Never expected that. Also, the chimichangas are not THAT large as you may think, reading the menu, and they did not appear to be deep fried, as is common near the border. However, there are regional variances so maybe that is part of it. These are more similar to a burrito in our nechk of the woods. I think free (corn) chips and salsa is pretty universal in every Mexican restaurant I have ever been in. That would be a great a$ition here. That said, the ingredients were fresh and aside from the tortilla issue the fajitas were great. The do have corn tortillas by the way. I asked for one at the end and it was great! They could add quesadillas to the menu too! Lots of potential. Just be ready to say "CORN!" right at the beginning or you might end up with flour! Flour nachos are not normally on the Mexican menu, and I think I know why. We will be back, and pay better attention. read more

I went here with my friend on a whim. I got to wear a sombrero while dining so that alone was amazing! We both got enchiladas, I got shredded beef with salsa verde and she got chicken also with salsa verde. They were super tasty but could've used a touch more salsa! The service was very prompt and friendly with the waiter going above and beyond to make our experience great. The owner was also working at the time and we got to hear a bit of their back story and where they get some of their more unusual ingredients. Unfortunately, a great experience didn't make up for our disappointment in the food. To be fair, we are very picky when it comes to Mexican food being born and raised near the border of Sonora but what we got here didn't resemble anything we've had before. We have tried it in different countries for a laugh and for the experience and since there were a couple places along the river that served it, the name of this place took us in. The food: It was so inundated with chipotle seasoning, it all tasted the same and was too spicy and smokey for my tastes. The chips in our nachos were fried flour tortillas instead of corn and had a kind of chili chipotle rub mixture for seasoning and were covered in jalapenos. My mother's tacos were in thick flour tortillas (probably the same used for the chips) and the meat was saturated in chipotle. My "enchiladas" were just the tacos on my mom's plate but rolled and again, a thick chipotle paste squirted on top. I even ordered them "verde" but didn't see anything resembling a green sauce. An appetizer, two entrees, a margarita, and a daiquiri came to an astronomical $72 after conversion with tip. I feel like crying a little when I think about how much I spent on food I could barely eat. I can get amazing Sonoran Mexican food I can barely keep from devouring like a Hoover for a quarter of that price with fresher ingredients. Came here today and was so good, really recommend. Probably my favourite Mexican place, and is really suitable for vegans, I would say more or less than half of the menu is vegan or can be an option. The food is colourful and pretty creative, and the price is reasonable per person. It's pretty casual but really nice, a good place to sit and chill. The staff are really friendly and helpful, they also have a cocktail bar. It's also handy and right on the Liffey, I just relaxed there while waiting for the bus. We stumbled upon this place because of their sign saying vegetarian mexican food and we were not disappointed! The food is fair priced, not cheap but they do a lot of specialty vegan and vegetarian dishes so it's understandable. The owner and waitress were super friendly and very helpful with special requests. We shared the amazing passion fruit margarita pitcher. I am a bartender myself so i know how to make a drink, the nachos and jackfruit tacos and enchalidas are also vegetarian and not afraid of spice (like most of ireland seems to be lmao) but also very delicious. I bought 2 Groupons for this place as my partner and I eat Mexican a lot and I wanted to give this place a fair shot. I had 2 Burritos here and the type of rice and cheese used were not good. The quality of the meat was fantastic so its a shame that there was a melted style of what tasted like American style cheese on the Burritos. The side salad that it came with was fantastic. This place has potential but unless they switch their ingredients around a bit I don't see this place staying open which is a shame because it could be a great place to eat. read more
