The process is fairly simple, you go in and pick your ceramic pieces to paint. Each ceramic piece has a different cost, and then there is a fee charged on top of that per painter. You get unlimited paints and tools to use, as well as unlimited time for painting. When you are done, you leave it with the front desk to fire up and pick up the finished result several days later. On a Friday I called ahead to check and see if there were any openings and was pleasantly surprised that they did! Color Me Mine Sunnyvale has a vast selection of different pieces that you can make! I chose to paint my dog and my girlfriend chose to do a vase! My recommendation would be if you're new to painting, choose something with a shape i.e. a dog, lucky cat, or garden gnome. This makes it easier and takes the stress away of creating something completely original. If you're looking to be more creative and have more time and experience, try creating something original on a simple solid piece such as a plate, mug, jewelry box, etc. Paint options here are awesome! There is a stone tablet that shows how all the colors will appear after glazing as well! The turnaround time is quite short only 1 week. (We're still waiting for ours lol) My one gripe is that the brushes here are incredibly worn out. It's hard to get good details when the brushes aren't good quality. The first 20-30min was the demo & we wish that it could've been interactive 'follow along' exercise. Great way to get your hands working & molding. NO STUDIO FEES, so all you are paying is the price listed on the pottery itself. The store has a good amount of tables for parties of 2-4. And also 2 rooms dedicated for birthday or corporate parties. There's also 1 restroom onsite. As well as a separate sink outside the restroom to wash your hands when needed. They have a small selection of snacks and drinks for purchase, but still a nice option. It's a clean environment and the young staff are very friendly. Music is often playing in the background while you concentrate on your painting. My only recommendation for improvement is to provide a more sturdy plate or tray for the paint. Currently customers just squirt the paint on a card stock paper (similar to the size of a large index card) and are supposed to take that back to the table for painting pottery. It would feel much more secure and sturdy to carry with an actual tray or paper plate for the paint. I also felt like the paint was dripping off the edges of the paper since there was no lip and paint colors kept merging together since the paper index card wasn't laying flat. They also could have offered a few more paint color options. All in all, it was a great experience and so nice to have a crafty activity close to home. Pottery is usually ready for pick up within 1 week. Candles are ready to be taken home same-day.

Initially I was very excited to take a 4 week pottery class because it was a hobby I have been…read morethinking about trying for a long time but my experience here has honestly dampened my interest in pursuing pottery further I'm unsure if it's typical protocol but essentially the instructor would do one tutorial and then let the class figure it out from there. He would then focus on his own pieces instead of checking on how to students were doing. The classes rarely started on time because the instructor would be eating their late lunch and would consistently forget what he taught us the previous week. Because there was poor time management, we would be working on pieces and then 15 minutes before the class would end, we would be told we have to start cleaning up so everyone would rush to finish what they were doing Because there was barely any hands on instruction, I was constantly watching online videos from other pottery instructors before class to teach myself the tips I was missing from my own instructor The studio also lacked a proper storage system, so every single week we came in, our pieces were in a different place which made it extremely difficult to find our work -- I lost a few pieces because of this The overall experience has been so disappointing and a waste of time and money - if you are serious about making pottery a hobby, I would suggest looking for a different pottery studio

However there are several additional and unexpected cost, a $10 or $12 fee to upgrade your container, the one included is very small. Once you upgrade to a more decent container there is a $10 fee for extra wax, $1 fee to dye your wax, $1 per dried rose buds, $1 for 5 small stones ( smaller than an ant size), and $1 for 3 small wax charms. (3 charms included in the original fee) 2. The class is advertised as one hour long, but after pouring the wax into the container you have to wait one hour for the wax to harden to add your decorations. The employee said we can leave and come back, but we opted to stay. Total time: approx 2 hrs 3. The music is not child appropriate. They were playing an Ariana Grande album with explicit lyrics, including the 34+35 song where she repeatedly sings "fuck me all night" . It was uncomfortable hearing that type of music with children around. In addition, the scent selection included: Sex on the Beach. Which i didn't like when my child asked innocently "i wonder what sex smells like." 4. There was a daycare or maybe a summer camp and there were several kids who were horse playing and being loud . Now Im all for summer camps and i understand kids are having fun but for them to be in the same area as the candle making area made the experience a bit chaotic. The employee did ask them to quiet down, and eventually another employee moved them to another location. 5. There a large scent selection, however most of them smelled unpleasant. The employee was nice, and offered a free rose bud and a free wax charm. Overall, I would not recommend the candle making experience.

Took two classes here and had very different experiences…read more The first class I went to was a resin workshop with Punky Power Productions and it was fun, engaging, and interactive. The instructor was very fun and really willing to help out and inspire. 5 stars. The second workshop i took, just this Sunday, was not great at all. It was a mosaic class and it might as well have been self led. The instructor gave us a brief 3-5 min tutorial on how to place the tiles and then did nothing else except sorted tiles the whole time. She never came around to see how we were doing or if we needed help. We had to keep asking her to come over if we had a question and she didn't really offer too much. She never told us what color we could use, and kept coming over and collecting the extra tiles as we were working. She didn't help us finish up and left before we were done. It was super disappointing.
