I went with a friend, and even though I was running a few minutes behind, the setup was flexible enough that she was able to save a spot for me right next to her. Our instructor was fantastic, kind, funny, professional, and incredibly patient with everyone in the room. She made the process look effortless but was right there to help us whenever we needed it. We were given a few different options for what to create, and I chose to make a set of coasters. My only minor critique is the time management for the workshop. I wish we had a dedicated few minutes just to brainstorm and sketch out our designs before the actual crafting clock started ticking. Because brainstorming ate into our studio time, it cut it a little close at the end and I felt a bit rushed to finish--though my coasters still ended up turning out pretty great! Once you finish your piece, they kiln-fire and glaze it for you, and it's ready for pickup in about a week. Overall, it's a wonderful creative outlet and a perfect activity to do with friends. It was fascinating to see how each person interpreted their significant other through their painting, with the reveal being the highlight of the night. This is definitely a class worth experiencing. As someone who is far from an artist--I can barely manage stick figures--and who doesn't practice meditation, I found the sessions incredibly relaxing. Watching myself create 'art' by choosing and applying colors, seeing them flow across the canvas under my control, was immensely satisfying. The absence of any need to conform to mainstream definitions of art was a revelation I never knew I needed. I enjoyed the freedom to create without pressure. Overall, Crystal, was a joy to work with. She provided all the necessary materials, explained the concept clearly, and then allowed everyone to explore it at their own pace. Crystal, the owner, offers so many different and unique…read moreexperiences at her studio--everything from fluid art on canvas and cool figurines to a mental wellness session using tactile finger painting. There are just so many cool and different activities to choose from! I tried both the fluid art experience on canvas and the "bear brick" figurines in the sip and drip session, as well as the mental wellness exercise on canvas. Both were quite different but super relaxing, calming, and just plain fun. I'm not naturally super artistic, but Crystal makes it all fun and light with no pressure. The pieces I created came alive right before my eyes. The fluid nature of the art really let me "let it flow," and Crystal's prompts and guidance on creating something display-worthy were perfect--not too overbearing or stressful. The great thing was I was able to meet other like-minded individuals and groups in my session and was able to see their beautiful and creative creations as well! I definitely want to do this again and bring a friend or five :) It's a fun idea for a date night or a friends' sip and drip party! I might even bring my work group here for a team-building event!! New ceramics studio just opened in Cupertino! They offer both adult classes and memberships (with…read more20% member discount for members). They have 12 member wheels and 10 class wheels. There is a slab roller, extruder, and wedging table available for use. They have 16 glazes available. Clay will be fired to Cone 6 (currently they have BMix and Speckled buff for now but will expand more in the future.) Member hours are 9am-9pm starting in July. And of course they have a friendly and welcoming staff. :)

I love it because I can go in anytime during the member hours to practice throwing. It's brand new and it is really clean, organized, and overall well maintained - something that you don't find often in pottery studios. The ambiance is very calming which is perfect for throwing in my opinion! There's lots of natural sunlight, airy, and beautiful plants. Basics: -23 wheels (12 member only) -16 glazes -multiple clay options (including b mix, speckled buff, porcelain) -2 kilns -member shelving 18"x 36"x12" Aside from membership, they also offer classes for beginners, intermediate, and hand building. It looks like they will be hosting a few workshops for specialty techniques which will be super cool! I am definitely signing up for those. Highly recommend you come try out Common Clay! I was doing some late night surfing on LivingSocial when I stumbled upon the Art Glass center…read moreoffering me the opportunity to be a glass artist for the day. Lots of fire and pretty glass. Having done a little glass work in the past and find I'm fascinated by the fire even if it scares the heck out of me. I was willing to try glass work again, as both a creative outlet and a way to do something other than sit around all day. The building itself is tiny, which is the result of multiple moves for the company. It only has non-metered street parking so you just have to find a place. I was greeted by Janet, the owner, when I entered and only waited a short time before the 5 other students arrived. We had the opportunity to experience and work with 3 glass skills: soldering, fusing, and torch work. I got to experience torching first and let me say that was scary as heck working with the torch! Tony, Janet's husband, worked with everyone to make sure we didn't burn ourselves or ruin our honey dipper that we ended up making. I was pretty proud of myself mostly because I didn't burn myself. We then had the opportunity to do some soldering to make a small stained glass piece. The last thing we did (but couldn't take home because it needed time in the kiln) was the making of a plate with layered glass. That last project will be mailed at a later date after the run through the kiln. It was a great experience. I felt like both teachers took the time to teach both safety and make it fun. Professional also. I would definitely investigate more available classes at this location.

We had a great time learning stained glass, glass mosaic, and blow-torch glass projects offered as artist for a day. Janet and Doug were attentive and informative instructors. Low-key, easy going. They shipped our mosaic glass panes to us at no charge. No hassle. We called back the day after class and asked that our panes not be slumbed into dishes and they accommodated us. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Definitely coming back for more projects.
