THR has a very diverse base of instructors and they are keen on training more instructors, basically a grassroots movement to build a flywheel of group fitness in Indy. I miscategorized THR as a crowded Bikram studio for the past few years and holy crap I was wrong! Gorgeous studio, action packed schedule, amazing instructors and very friendly staff to make this an end to end phenomenal fitness experience. Pro tip: The $59 unlimited for 2 weeks is amazing if you need acclimate to extreme heat and/or build stamina for being active in the heat. The studio itself is nice, and the two classes I took were solid, though nothing particularly standout. I purchased a two-week unlimited intro pass and had a sudden family emergency the same day as my first class that required me to leave the country. I returned 13 days later, meaning there was only one day left on my two-week pass. I explained this to the front desk and asked if there was any way to extend or honor the original trial period, since I wasn't able to use it due to circumstances completely out of my control. I was only offered options that would require me to make an additional payment, and when I followed up explaining my disappointment and asking if there was any flexibility, I never received a response. Considering this is a yoga studio, I expected more understanding, compassion, and accommodation in a situation involving a family emergency. My Indianapolis-based sister was celebrating her 50th class and wanted me to join her on this special occasion while I was in town. Now, it has been about a decade since I last did hot yoga (although I practice normal yoga pretty regularly) so I was ill-prepared for my trial visit due to my arrogance. I actually had to tap out a couple of times during this 90 minute class (especially since I had a sugar binge the night before and was feeling queezy). But the very kind and understanding yoga instructor, Liz, understood my predicament and never forced me to push harder than necessary because pushing to my limits would have made me puke. I think this is a very nice business and a great place to exercise but I urge everyone to be conscious of how they feel, especially if they had a wild night the night before, before signing up for a 90 minute class! I definitely plan on coming back for a class next time I am in town - ill just probably stick to a 45 minute session instead haha. Also, congrats to my sister on her 50th class! read more

I wasn't sure what to expect really. I looked at the videos and saw the sweat dripping off but still nothing prepares you. Doing this is nothing like the other Yoga I've done. Patrick was great leading the class. The mirrors were weird at first but they did help me see the moves other people were doing , since this was my first time. I did have to leave the room before the class ended due to feeling a bit dizzy and nauseous. That did pass after cooling down. Only critique would be the men's space is small. Trying to shower and change was challenging with the class ending and other guys coming in to do the same. Patrick and all the staff were very welcoming. I am looking forward to possibly going to other locations to see how they are set up. My friend that took me to this class for my birthday said he like the Fishers and Downtown locations better space wise. read more

Where to start? I love the hot room studio! It's so healing in all aspects of my life. I came back to the hot room as I have been trying to manage my pinched nerve symptoms and also deal with some personal trauma that I've experienced and I am so glad that I decided to return. I was very nervous to return due to covid but then I realized how much I missed it and how much I wanted to practice again. I love what it does for my body and my mind and I go daily! The community is super nice and friendly, classes are efficient and always on time and I love how personable each teacher is. The owners are super helpful and caring, too. When you enter in the hot room, you instantly feel at peace and you detox and remove what doesn't serve you. I'm from LA and had an issue with finding it & parking so I was 6 minutes late, just 1 minute after their 5 minute deadline. So, I was then turned away for that 1 minute and told "thank you for stopping by," ultimately unable to do my workout. That's just ridiculous, I wasted 20+ minutes of driving, money for parking, and I was beyond excited to do hot Pilates! Enough cannot be said about the Hot Room. Yes it's hot and you will get sweaty, but if you continue your practice, it can be so much more...therapy, a place to disconnect and work on your mental and physical strength, a relaxing and/or energizing motivational class. Pro's: + Instructors and staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. The Hot Room is more of a community relationship than the typical client relationship that you would have at other gyms/studios. + Classes- They have expanded the number, 60 or 90 minute, and variety of classes, including adding classes outside ( during the non-winter months) and continue to have a variety of special classes with visiting instructors. What I like is, even though I can attend the same class over and over again, each time is completely different in terms of how I am able to work through the movements based on how I have prepped for class as well as how my body is feeling that day. + The studio, lobby, and restroom facilities are kept clean. It is impressive how they are able to quickly clean the studio between the classes. + App - Their App is well designed and a must, especially if you want to book certain classes. +Parking - There is plenty of parking in the strip mall location at their 96th street location. +Amenities - The restroom has cubbies to keep your belongings and there are showers available to clean up after class. There is a Brita water filter station to fill up your canisters prior/post class. The Hot Room Boutique has mats, towels, drinks, apparel, and other items available for purchase. Tips: * Make sure to hydrate and not eat 2 hours or more before your first class! The heat will expose your weaknesses much quicker, and dehydration and nausea isn't a fun experience * Do NOT be afraid to try it. One of the best this about the Hot Room is how non-judgmental people are. Even if you aren't able to do every posture correctly or at all, just staying on your mat through the whole class is a huge accomplishment. *Go back shortly after your first class! I'm writing this testimony after 29 days and 20 classes of sweating and stretching at The Hot Room. I'm officially a believer in hot bikram yoga! My favorite part of bikram is that by doing the same asanas, I can see where I've improved, whether that be with if I can do the posture or how long I can hold the asana. The instructors have been a big help along the way. My schedule has me doing the majority of classes with Laurie or David, both of whom I am grateful for. They always seem to know the right things to say, especially when I'm struggling. They set the tone in the room, one that is motivating and kind. Most importantly, The Hot Room has changed my body and mind for the better. Physically, I'm down some lbs, my stomach has flattened, I can inhale and exhale longer, and I'm seeing definition in my arms. Mentally, I'm better at quieting my mind, which is a huge deal because most days I feel like my brain runs 100 MPH. I feel the best I've felt in about four years! With one month down, I want to continue a regular practice, so I've sign up for another month. I am eager to continue pushing myself and see more of hot yoga's benefits. read more

Absolutely loved my visit to The Hot Room! The yoga class was what you imagined it might be -- very hot. The instructor did a fantastic job of motivating everyone. Although some of the moves were pretty difficult, I felt very enabled to at least give each move a try! (I'm always amazed at how difficult yoga can be when you're not a regular.) When I'm going to a hot yoga practice, the practice is important, but I also care a lot about the heat. Basically my criteria is this: if the class alleges to be hot, it better be inferno, red-faced, dripping sweat hot. These classes definitely fit that criteria! A couple tips: - This is one of the most packed studios I've ever been in. Be prepared that you won't have a ton of space around your mat, and you'll likely touch your neighbor throughout your practice. - On that note, it can be challenging to get into classes. Sometimes classes are totally full with no option to waitlist, and that can get frustrating, because if you're not on the waitlist, there's no notification that space has opened when people inevitably start dropping. A common boutique fitness issue, for sure, but it's still frustrating no matter how many times I experience it! - Towels *are not* provided, and trust me, you'll need one for how much you sweat in class! There are showers in the locker room, so be sure to bring an extra towel or two if you'll be showering! - You *cannot* be late to this studio, or you won't be allowed in. I was about 3 minutes late for the first class I booked and the door was locked, so I wasn't able to get in for class that day. On the one hand, it's nice because once the class begins, you know you won't be interrupted. On the other hand, things (traffic, general lateness!) happen, and it would be nice to know if you're less than 5 minutes late, you could still get in to class. The Hot Room is definitely going to be a regular part of my workout schedule going forward, and I'm excited to try the rest of their class offerings! read more

I've been going to the Hot Room for almost a year now and I can say it has completely changed me (physically and mentally). The people are incredibly friendly and the community is supportive. As someone who had nearly no flexibility - it is a constant challenge...some days are great and some are a real grind but the positive impact it's had on me is crazy. Prior to yoga, I'd lift at my local gym and run regularly but the stress from the daily routine would still be there. I've cut my running times down considerably & feel as strong as ever but the biggest benefit has been the positive impact it's had on my emotional mindset. If you're thinking "I am not flexible" or "I'd be terrible" - give it a shot! You won't regret it! read more

The Hot Room is an exceptional studio on the North-East side of town. I've gone to both the downtown and this location, and would have to say I prefer this location. The hot yoga class on 12 on Thursday was PACKED (47 people). it almost seemed like too many people for the room, but there was still a good amount of space between us all. The studio is within a strip mall and has lots of parking available. There is a shoe rack upon entry, an iPad to check in for studio regulars, a lot of retail options, the counter if you need to check in, buy water/mat, etc. As a cool tip: they have a pregnancy book that those who are pregnant can use to help them understand how to modify certain moves during their pregnancy. I've done hot yoga a few times now and while the class is typically the same moves it is still challenging and a good way to work yourself into better postures and breathing. The room is HOT. I got lucky enough to be near the door to get a little bit of wind when the instructor opened the door for a few moments. Make sure to bring a towel to place over tour mat and another one for your face, etc. if you are exceptionally sweaty. The class was full of women and men, of all shape and sizes - I never once felt intimidated or felt bad about not getting fully into a position because everyone was at different levels within the class. Way too hot and humid for me. With the temperatures and humidity levels not being explicitly stated, I did not realize it was going to be a hellish experience. I am a mostly beginner Yogi and have done several other forms of hot yoga and can do a fair amount of positions. Here, I could barely finish a session without feeling like I was going to pass out at least four times. Great for most people, but way too intense for me. -Vinyasa is 98 degrees and 30% humidity. -Original Hot Yoga is 102 with 40% humidity. The staff was very very welcoming and accommodating and friendly. The dressing room is very compact/cramped but has several bathroom stalls, shower, and ample cubby holes. read more

Best hot yoga classes in Indy! I have attended the north side Hot Room location only, but I genuinely love this place. It is clean, plenty of room, and they have wonderful staff/instructors. I usually attend the Wednesday night Community class in the evenings - these classes you can attend without a membership; they just suggest a $10 donation that goes to charity. It's great for someone who may only have time to come to class once every few weeks. During the class you can expect to sweat, stretch, strengthen, and clear your mind. I leave every class very relaxed and accomplished, feeling like I can tackle the rest of my week. The Wednesday night class is candlelit, so I can really focus on myself and the movement without worrying about anyone else. I would highly recommend you try the hot room as you are guaranteed a wonderful experience that will leave you craving more! read more

Im pretty physically fit I would say. I train in self-defense several times a week and also teach it. I was looking to work on my flexibility and core strength so decided to try out The Hot Room (Uptown) on a Groupon. Im addicted! The overall energy is very positive and welcoming. My body and headspace feels amazing after every class. I've tried a few different classes and they're all awesome, however, pilates is my favorite and I love that they play music. Kylie is an amazing instructor so kind, positive and full of great energy. No matter what kind of day you've had, once you see Kylie you can't help but feed off of her contagious smile & positive vibes! I've had a few different instructors and they are all wonderful. The facility is very clean and well maintained. Tons of parking and people are in and out. Classes start and end on time, with me being a mother of 3 time is important. I love that I see the owner in there often and she also instructs, I'm looking forward to trying her class soon. I highly recommend you try out The Hot Room, you will NOT regret it! read more

Here are some things I've learned in my brief stint at THR: - The two classes I personally recommend are the Hot Pilates and Hot Power Sculpt. They have music which is helpful! - Hot Pilates is good for beginners (in my opinion) because there are few technical yoga terms so anyone can easily get the hang of it. - Take off your shoes when you arrive. - Yoga is for men too! It's definitely predominantly women but you're not a creeper if you're a man and do yoga (unless of course you're a creeper). - When in doubt, look at what others are doing! - Bring a towel to sit on in your car for the ride home, unless you change (they do have locker rooms). - Bring water. It's not exactly socially acceptable to leave mid-class for a refill. - Download the app and sign up for classes! - When in doubt, look for Kylie or Katie's classes. Namaste. read more

I'm a Hot Room believer! As a longtime runner, I want my cross training workouts to be worthwhile and make me sweat. My Hot Room workouts check both of those boxes and more. After a year of hot yoga and Pilates, I feel so much stronger and my breathing, especially while running, is much more effective. I have moved to Indy in 2018 and later on one of my friend introduced me to come with her to do yoga that I never had before. So I have signed up to be a member, my first day I thought I will never make it, but after a while that I have been to a few classes I really enjoyed it, I have relaxed and full of positive energy as well meeting a friends in yoga community. The group of teachers who cater to all levels and interest levels of yoga. The classes are also long enough to really feel the benefits of stretching, relaxing, engaging and letting go. I started at The Hot Room nearly 5 years ago with my mom, but it wasn't until mid to late 2019 that I started a regular practice. Health has always been important to me but I hadn't found my calling. Without a doubt, THR is the best studio for me. Very welcoming and friendly staff and nice bathrooms/locker rooms. Wasn't a fan of the instructors style of teaching. Spoke way too fast, couldn't understand his directions. Very bad first impression, and I won't be returning. I was late for the class, as I drove past the location. Class had JUST begun, i.e. the breathing exercises, but I was not allowed to enter. The person at the desk did not bother to inquire if it was my first time, and did not seem at all welcome. She offered a flippant "come back" as I exited, but that is one thing I will definitely not be doing. I have been going to THR for almost a year now. Every class is an amazing workout but more importantly, an opportunity to become stronger, physically and mentally. The work is challenging and it only becomes more rewarding. I come to class on my good and my bad days and find that each time I leave, I feel so much better than before I came. The instructor Kellie was so calm and relaxing. She was patient with all the new faces and we had such an amazing session. I won't lie, the classes can be a struggle at times and you have to get accustomed to being covered in sweat, but you feel so great after each class! I have tried hot Pilates, hot yoga, hot power vinyasa, "Run, Tone, Flow," GLOWGA, and my new personal fave Inferno Hot Pilates! Inferno is like hot pilates mixed with interval training to the tunes of Zumba music! I'm in love! All of the teachers and staff are amazing and very helpful.
