About a year ago, my sister-in-law purchased me a generous reformer package from Invoke as a gift. At the time it felt like a one-off splurge to treat myself and here we are a year later and I'm still attending weekly reformer classes. Invoke has been such a blessing throughout this second pregnancy. Between the reformer classes and prenatal yoga, I feel physically better (and more prepared) than I did for my first kiddo.  I especially want to thank Rachel Weigler for the modifications she offers in her reformer classes. She is very knowledgeable in what to avoid/modifications, etc. for pregnant women and it's clear that other pregnant women have taken note as I often find that I am not the only pregnant individual in the intimate four person classes.  I'm two weeks out from baby #2 and grateful to know that "on the other side" there will be monthly "mama and me" yoga classes and postnatal pilates classes to get me back on track and feeling strong. I already have a note in the calendar to sign up once it gets closer. ;) Feeling incredibly lucky to have this studio walking distance from home in the Old Northside. My first encounter with Invoke was just recently, when I booked an outdoor yoga class with them at Eagle Creek Park. I have been practicing yoga religiously for almost 18 months, but I had never experienced an outdoor yoga class. It was time! I'm so glad that my first outdoor yoga class was with Invoke, because the instructor who led us (Jill) was so amazing. She challenged us and encouraged us, and she also adjusted my poses a couple of times and it helped me a lot. One of the adjustments during savasana helped me to relax deeper and release the tension I was holding in my shoulders that I didn't even realize was there. The outdoor yoga class was held at the marina in Eagle Creek. It was a beautiful spot to gaze out onto the water and into the trees as we breathed deeply and moved our bodies. Be prepared to deal with some goose poop and ant hills, though. But that's part of being outdoors, right? We, the people with yoga mats, are invading the space of animals and wildlife -- we are the interlopers here. If you take an outdoor class, I suggest bringing a big towel to lay on the ground underneath your mat. It will help. After this class, I now want to practice outdoors more. It was so nice to be in a plank pose and see a roly poly wander near my mat, and gaze at the clouds while in sky archer pose. I also want to visit Invoke again (maybe during one of their indoor classes) because I felt so welcomed and left super smiley and centered. read more

I visited Invoke for the 1st time. Friday evening for a sound bath. Meg Hovious made the entire hour so beautiful that we slept through in relaxation. Meg starts with breathing exercises and getting into the present moment. She then walks through a variety of sounds. This is an all senses test which leaves you focusing on the sounds and drifting off to a light sleep. The ambience and additional items like pillow, blanket make the experience more worthwhile. Before visiting invoke for the first time, I had only been to one yoga class and to be honest I wasn't the biggest fan. I reluctantly joined a yoga studio per my physical therapists recommendation after cutting back on running due to an injury. Since then I have discovered my love for yoga and Pilates! Our instructor Laura both challenged us and eased our tension with her instruction and soothing voice. I'm fairly new to yoga and truly got a lot out of the class. At the end of the class, we simply laid down and cleared our minds, while also putting a soothing eye mask on. It smelled INCREDIBLE. Need to get one of those for my home! Prenatal Yoga with Tess was seriously a GAME CHANGER for my second pregnancy. I attended nearly every class from week 19 through delivery & sometimes it was the only thing that made me feel like my body could keep going. The first 10 minutes of each class (affectionately called "therapy") was one of my favorite moments each week. I love yoga. I don't get to classes as often as I'd like, but when I get to go, I'm in love. Since I moved to Indy over the summer, I haven't had much chance to explore yoga studios. That changed tonight with a visit to Invoke. I took a yin yoga class. While it was my first class here at Invoke, it wasn't my first yin class. The Instructor, whose name I believe was Michelle, did an amazing job of leading us through the class from beginning to end. Her instruction was so attentive - from how to get into the poses, to how to use props to be most comfortable in the poses, to how to safely let go of the pose and give your body time to settle. It was so relaxing, and I may have almost fell asleep. Maybe. But I didn't, so it's fine. I'm definitely coming back to try out some of the other classes - and to get some more dimly lit, deep breathing, long holding yin yoga in. A couple things I made a mental note of - the parking lot is small, so unless you arrive early enough, you'll probably have to park elsewhere. I ended up parking by some houses off a side street and walking a minute or so to class. Not a problem, but good to be aware of. I hear you can park in certain neighboring lots after 6p as well, so that's something to keep in mind (see their website). Secondly, there is a fire station nearby. And fire trucks do come out of it. The sounds of sirens may have helped me to not fall asleep during my yin class tonight. But if you're easily distracted by things like that, be aware that's a possibility - at least in studio 1. That said, it wouldn't keep me away from such a comfortable, clean, and friendly space. Especially not when it seems like the teachers really know their stuff! read more

As Katy E. mentioned in her review, Invoke just celebrated its 15th anniversary - which is a huge feat - so congrats to the team and staff for sticking around and being a leader in the Indy yoga movement! That being said, I won't lie - I was always intimidated by Invoke. Why? I've literally no idea. Maybe I felt like I wouldn't be "good enough"? Rest assured: my doubts were silly, and Invoke is a great place to practice. Take one of their community classes that are discounted to try it out or do an unlimited month for $39 (a STEAL). The reason I love this studio compared to others is the options. Don't like warm/heated yoga? No biggie, they've got 2 other rooms to try other things. Pilates? Check. Intro classes? They've got 'em. Classes outside of the studio and in the community? Check out their sunrise yoga on the canal. The one piece of constructive criticism for the Invoke team is their lack of diversity in staff I've noticed so far. This is something that could really be a focus in their future. Another thing that I have noticed that I'm not fond of at the Fort Wayne location is the traffic noise you can hear quite loudly during rush hour in the front yoga studio. The instructors seem to turn the music up a bit to drown it out, but it's something I've noticed. That being said, the studio is a great place and I'm excited to continue to meet new people and friendly instructors, sharpen my practice with the highly-knowledgeable staff, and hopefully one day master the inverted poses! read more

I have been practicing yoga regularly for the past year, and as of November, Invoke has become my home studio. I first started with the Sunday $10 Community classes and then purchased a $39 intro month. During that time, I attended as many classes as possible to get a feel for the studio and decide if I wanted to commit long-term (and pay full price). Here is why I decided to stay: -Option to take a heated or non-heated class: if you do choose a heated class--which helps with flexibility and sweating out toxins--the room can get up to 105 degrees. I will note that the humidity is that as bad as other hot yoga rooms I've practiced in. -Overall instructor knowledge: I notice that most of the instructors really know their shit. They will not only call out the asana and how to get in/out of it, but also they know the little details to help you get the maximum benefit out of each asana. Therefore, I would best sum up their instruction as detailed and refined. My preferred instructors: Megan, Yvonne, Jole, and Jay. -Variety of classes and workshops: Invoke offers leveled Vinyasa and Yin classes, and there are also workshops and special events offered monthly, whether that be hip hop yoga, myofascial release, or an intro to the practice of yoga. If you prefer a slower flow or what to work on the foundations of your practice, then the best place to start is the Level 1 and 1/2 classes. If you like an athletic flow with a steady pace, then you'll be comfortable with a Level 2 class. If you want to focus on a calmer practice that will stretch you out, then you definitely want to check out one of the Yin classes. If you become obsessed and want to deepen your practice, then you're in luck, as Invoke offers teacher training. Right now, Invoke is the best $120 I spend per month for my body, mind, and spirit. With the wintry months upon us, do some good for yourself and give this yoga studio a shot. read more

I was gifted a free 30 days of yoga for being a front line worker and I'm so thankful! I had been wanting to try Invoke and this could not have come at a better time! I have really enjoyed trying different classes from different teachers in the comfort of my home. I had never done mat pilates before and I feel like both of the teachers, Glenna and Kelly, are both easy to follow, cue well, and explain things so they are easy to understand. I have really enjoyed the level 2 vinyasa classes by Megan. They are a great workout and she cues well so it's easy to follow without staring at the screen the entire time. I also liked Yvonne's class because she offers modifications that I have never seen before, but aspire to work up to. I would definitely recommend Invoke to any person looking for a new studio and hoping to amplify their practice. read more

For anyone familiar with the chain Core Power Yoga, Invoke is basically a more improved & personal Core Power. For anyone that loves a nice heated vinyasa class, you really can't top this experience! The heated room has an amazing HVAC system set just right with awesome Feng Shui, staring at a fireplace. The ceilings are a nice height, the walls / flooring are spotless. Most importantly, the instructors are AWESOME. (If you're feeling room temperature yoga, the main room is awesome too with the converted warehouse feel) If you're looking to get started, they have amazing level 1 classes. If you're looking to sweat, the heated room is hot but isn't unbearably Bikram. If you're a gangster yogi the advanced classes here are incredibly challenging. If you're just a chill yogi that likes to change up his workout and likes a challenge but hates inversions this place is DOPE. Basically this place is awesome for anyone in Indy that wants to get down on some yoga! They also have some special events, like practicing on the War Memorial when its not freezing cold! Pro Tip 1: They have an awesome $39 introductory membership & also have $10 drop in classes without commitment! Pro Tip 2: The level "2/3" classes are seriously amazing for most levels with some experience or tons, with tons of options for modifications (I am clumsy / hate inversions) but always with a nice flow. As a member of Invoke for about 10 years I was proud to attend a donation class yesterday that Invoke and Elizabeth Heidari hosted for Color of Change, an organization in support of racial justice in the black communities. As a women of color I have always felt incredibly welcome at the studio, especially as I've seen the ongoing, dedicated support of marginalized communities over the years. One thing I love about attending classes at Invoke in person is the opportunity to be surrounded by a diverse group of people; from age, race, gender and sexual orientation. It is a welcoming community of people that I wish I could encounter in more aspects of my daily life. Invoke has now officially been around for 15 years and I'm a little ashamed to say it took me until just recently to try them out. I was initially intimidated by the price point, but have been attending their $10 community classes on Sundays and LOVE them. All of the instructors I have encountered have been really skilled and do a great job of making you feel comfortable. There's a chip you can put on your mat if you don't want hands on adjustment. If you want to get both your brain and your body in a centered place (and don't mind sweating), check out the heated classes! The studio space is clean and beautiful. It took me awhile to find a local yoga studio that I felt most comfortable at. It wasn't until I found Invoke that I felt at home. The first class I took was Heated Vinyasa with Erin Morgan. 10/10 experience. I couldn't remember the last time I took a yoga class and felt at peace in shavasana (no thoughts about anything/anyone). Since then, I signed up for a lesson via Zoom during COVID-19 with Cheryl Milton. She is great and instructs a variety of courses. If you have a package through Invoke and are unable to attend live sessions, they offer an on-demand option, too. These are pre-recored sessions that are available online beyond the scheduled time. I became a member of Invoke when they first opened over a decade ago, and it instantly became my yoga home. The staff are amazing, everyone is warm and welcoming, and the instructors are the best I have ever encountered. It always seems like I get exactly what I need from them. Let me take you on a journey to what led me to Invoke. In 2017, I said I was going to try hot yoga. Since I have a tendency to pass out when hot (LOL), it seemed unwise to try, but I'd heard so many great things that I really wanted to make it a goal to try it. So for 2018, I put it on my goals list. And then the year started passing... and passing... and passing, and I found myself at December without ever trying a class (despite signing up many times!). On New Year's Eve, I finally got fed up and decided it was absolutely necessary to complete this goal before the end of the year, and so I went to a class at Invoke. And it was EVERYTHING! One of the best yoga practices of my life! In a beautiful, hot space, with lots of other practitioners who were deeply invested in the group energy. Since then, Invoke has become my favorite space to practice yoga. Their classes are insanely good every single time - there's never been a miss for me in their studios. Every instructor has been lovely, and I'm a Megan Z. stan, so highly recommend putting her at the top of your list to try! I typically attend the 86th and Ditch location, but have been known to venture Downtown when necessary! Make sure you sign up for their email newsletter and follow on social media, because they often have sales on class packages and info on their upcoming special events and workshops. They also offer $10 community yoga at both locations a few times a week, so that's an awesome way to attend on a budget. Those community classes are some of my favorites, because there are SO MANY people in the rooms - it's great energy! I am a yoga and pilates novice, and when a friend suggested we take their Intro to Yoga Workshop ($55 for 4 classes, plus your first regular class), I was a bit nervous and intimidated. I'm not that flexible and don't have much balance either, so I was afraid I would make a fool of myself. I probably did a few times, but it didn't matter. Many of the teachers have studied yoga in NY and LA and the students are really into practicing yoga, but none of them seemed to have the yoga-snob attitude that was making me nervous! A great place to go if you don't know much about yoga or pilates but want to give it a try! We took the beginning classes with Amy, the owner. She is a fantastic teacher. You will get a great workout and she'll offer tips on how to get the most out of your poses. By the end of the class series, she even had us standing on our heads! I recently went back for a Saturday class - basic vinyasa yoga. Ahna, a new instructor taught it. I highly recommend taking one of her classes - she is fantastic! She seems very calm and earthy, taking a spiritual approach to yoga, but you'll be sore the next day from a vinyasa session with her. As another review noted, Invoke is a little pricey. However, you will get top-notch instruction, a clean and modern atmosphere and a great workout. Check the website and sign up for their email newsletter - they have good promotional prices from time to time. I have been coming to Invoke for about 3 years now and there is no other studio that gives me the variety of classes and a great work out than here! The package I have allows me to do all of their studio classes (excluding reformer) both downtown and at their location up north which is usually not a common thing with most places. The classes available to me are all of their yoga classes including hot yoga along with my favorites, barre, Pilates, Core HITT and Core Heat. They also have various workshops and other classes you can partake in for a small fee. The instructors are all fantastic and switch up the rountines daily so you never feel like you are taking the same class twice. Bailey's Core HITT class on Thursday's is one of my favorites along with Lindsey's barre class on Wednesday's. I always leave feeling accomplished and ready to take on the day. I have tried many many MANY studios but this is the only one I have stayed with because the classes are truly effective.
