Many of my injuries have been traced to stiffness in my tendons and lack of flexibility. I researched options for increasing flexibility and avoiding injuries. People's testimonies about Pilates intrigued me. Being a guy, I wondered about it though but thought nothing ventured, nothing gained. Well, a month and a half into it, going twice a week has convinced me. I am able to touch my toes and then some. My lower back no longer feels tight and stiff every morning. (I used to dread getting out of bed. I immediately felt pressure in my lower back). An instructor shared her experience of being able to reach her car dome light natural her first month. At the time, I thought, how could someone move from joint pain to fluid movement that quickly. I was skeptical of how much it would help and how fast. However, I would have been happy to see any progress. Then, I experienced results that surprised me. Pilates makes me move joints and parts of the body that I rarely focus on in any routine. I can be fairly regular with a Jillian Michaels workout or my free weights on my own. But, without a class and instructor, I would not move and stay as focused in Pilates. With aging, stiffness has lead to injury and down time each year. I find Pilates to be an answer to staying on the court and enjoying life.

The ACSM certification is what I personally prefer and was happy to find someone to work with at Body Outfitters. From Bachelor degrees in Exercise Science, ACSM certifications and Certified Strength & Conditioning coach credentials to being a well rounded staff of athletes, Body Outfitters has a trainer or coach for you to help you with your athletic and fitness needs. When seeking a personal trainer, It is important to know the background of the trainer you choose to work with and I feel all staff at Body Outfitters are professional and more than qualified in their trade. I am working with Eric Thompson and like any new trainer/client relationship, we are in the grace period of where he is getting to know me and I am getting to know him. A good trainer wants to keep you safe, teach you good form, make you grow, build & tone your body, keep you smiling & motivated and train you to keep you in your athletic endeavors you love for life. I want to sweat, be pushed, work in proper form, laugh and feel a sense of accomplishment. Eric and I are slowly finding this groove as we start to work together this summer. A good trainer is a good accompaniment to my athletic lifestyle and all the other things I do (hiking, biking, yoga, boxing, Pilates, etc) and I have found that with Eric and Body Outfitters. They have personal training starting around $33 (which is a steal compared the costs I am used to paying living in larger cities!), in addition to small group training, family workouts and training geared towards working through an injury. Body Outfitters seems like they are going to work with you on whatever fitness need or goal you have. When I initially reached out over e-mail, I heard a response very quickly. The small facility in the cute city scape of downtown Zionsville is clean, welcoming and functional. They have all sorts of loose weights, weight machines, TRX equipment, etc. to build a program full of variety. By appointment only, so check out their website and contact the owner or staff to make your initial visit. My first visit/consultation was at no cost. If you are seeking a personal trainer and live in the area, Body Outfitters would be a good spot to start your fitness journey (regardless of level!).
